Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Dec-04-15 08:24 PM
Considering they offered Cueto 150.
2499922, I read they offered Cueto 6/120...so maybe they hit Zack with a buck fifty

No blame at all lol, that's just silly money. Do your thing Zack.
2499928, It's a lot of money and they could be good in a year or two
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Dec-04-15 08:52 PM
Hard to turn it down, really.
2499935, Yeh, and from what I just read, it's actually 206
Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Dec-04-15 09:10 PM
34m per year.
2499953, I didn't see that coming
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Dec-04-15 10:45 PM
I know he had an incredible year but a long-term, big-money commitment to this guy still scares me a little. Surprisingly that the DBacks paid like that for any player, let alone a pitcher.
2500034, They're flush with cash after their Fox Sports TV deal
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Dec-05-15 04:01 PM
1.5 billion over 20 years
2500188, yeah i mean i figured they'd be aggressive but not like this
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Dec-06-15 11:39 AM
i dont know their team that well but it seems like spreading this sort of investment over a few spots would make more sense given their performance in recent years
2499954, hope his arm goes dead, the contract hamstrings that franchise for years to come...
Posted by DJR, Fri Dec-04-15 11:05 PM
and the Dodgers pee all in that pool the next time they clinch on that field.
2500023, So what's the narrative, OKS? Is it LOLdodgersLOL or is this a bad deal

2500206, in no way is it LOL
Posted by justin_scott, Sun Dec-06-15 02:12 PM
he wanted 6 years, they were cool at 5. he's 32 now. smart decision by the dodgers. sucks to lose him, but in the long run, too many years, too much money.
2500209, RE: in no way is it LOL

LOL Dodgers because they keep jettisoning guys that have success and bringing in guys who can't really play. They let a batting champ and a Cy Young runner up go but they have Utley, JRoll, et al. In terms of starting pitching, the 1-2 punch that scared everyone in the playoffs is back to "yeah but they only have one pitcher." This guy also signed in the division.

But it is a bad deal because Greinke is 32 years old and he has had some inconsistency in his career. The Dodgers lose big short term here but the DBacks will also live to regret the deal one day, probably about halfway through it.
2501081, Magic done turned into the Mikhail Prokhorov of the MLB

At least the Dodgers have their prospects
2501071, add Shelby Miller to the rotation (link)
