I said it last year, but in general guys are getting better at this. We'll always have Magilla in the bottom tier but then you have a solid group in the middle who need a lot of luck, followed by a solid group that will win games but not consistently enough to be real contenders. This year we have a group of 8 that can win it all.

I remember after the first 2 rounds I was like --OK-- almost all of us got a nice base to build around. After the draft before looking at all teams I felt mine was more in the middle of the contender pack. However, after looking in detail at all the teams, everyone had some holes, my big one was covering all my minutes - which ive since addressed.

Ceej has built a solid team if KD can get back to form. His key is whether Ty Lawson and how he plays with Harden. If Ty balls out that pushes Ceej up a bit. But overall unspectacular team that will generally lose to the top 8.

Not really impressed by this team. Dwight already injured. I like David Lee in WS, but that pick was a reach at that point. Even if Rondo is better, I dont know if he's 1.3 better and he needs to be if TJT wants to push into the next tier. Has Wade who he made lots of jokes on ernie (with me) about last season. Jokes on you this year.

11 Longo
Frank kinda went against the grain this year without Cp3. He went to a "safer" less upsidey draft. Every year Frank picks and tells me how so and so was a part of his championship team 3 years ago. Harden is gonna have a drop in WS but still good. Teamed with Lowry (franks best pick) they will be one of the best backcourts. However his front line will not do shit. I know he's going for the Favors upswing and the Oquinn continued efficiency, but thats solid at best. Enjoy!

10 Ryan
I loved his team last year but he wont win it all this year. Drummond was nice, but dont really love any other pick here. Dame is gonna put up numbers but whats his efficiency gonna be? 37 mpg? more turnovers? I see Payton doing the same as last season. I dont know if his shot and scoring has gotten enough better for him to move up another tier. Terrence Jones is solid but him and Rudy as your lead F's :(

9) AB
Russy and three other starters will carry this team. Russy, Hill, Niko, Dray. I really wanted Dray with my pick but ended up being happy with Horford. Dont know why AB went with 2 C's. Probably the 2 wrong ones -well at least Al. After his first 5 AB basically took a nosedive.

8) RBO
Solid draft but didnt love it as much as RBO did. The C corps is solid but expect Tyson to go back towards his 1.1 days. Duncan will be fine, KAT will have some huge games but also some poor ones with too many TOS. Kris humphries is always underrated. Worried about this teams Guards. Tyreke has been good in the past but hes hurt. The Mechanic and Dragic arent gonna do anything for you as your lead guards. He can see a huge boost if Clarkson lives up to his potential, but that will be harder at SG.

7) Cenario
This team really contending will depend on Mudiay as a 2nd G. If Mudiay can ball to his potential early, Cenario is in the game. Bogut and Nurkic (when healthy) will be a top efficient C corps. I wanted to get Bogut but missed. I expect a big season from Bron early on if he can stay healthy.

6) Boogs
Deandre, Monroe, Bosh, Hill, Biyombo - Nice. MCW and Kemba with Mccollum and Mcconnell as backup--not so nice. I really hated MCW last year. He wins you some games, but then loses you others because instead of being a consistent 1.2 He's 1.4, followed by .8. His shooting and turnover issues still seem to exist. Mccollum is a SG and will only score. Great for Yahoo leagues though

5) Ern
Dont love the Koufos, Ibaka, Turner Centership. Really like Faried and Trob at the F. I dont know if Faried hits pre-Brian shaw numbers (he may need new scenery altogether0 but he will be better thanlast year. Kawhi, Rubio, and Schroeder at G make this team tough. If Kawhi ready to take that next step into a top 7 type of player?

4) Shelly
Came out of nowhere and had a atypicla nice draft. Was on fire early on I thought with Reggie, teague, Gobert, Speights, Henson but by the second half of the draft you saw Shelly's draft start to fall off almost as bad as ABs. Still the first 7 wll carry this team

3) Theo
I can see why people like this team, CP3, Rose, Whiteside, Zaza Zach. Theres a lot to like. I still have questions though about Brandon Knight in our format. he saw a dramatic falloff in Phx last year. If it wasnt for the milwaukee start his numbers would look undraftable. I think Rose ends up being a helluva value and Theos second Guard. jack will be nice. I dont see old Kevin Love coming back, but thats the key. If Love gets anywhere near old Kevin Love, this team is #1.

2) Beathustla
Playing fanduel has helped Uncle mel see more value and efficiency.
I love this frontline based on potential and what I expect this season (though I wouldnt order them this way).
Mahimi and Dieng will have good seasons and were a value wher ethey went.
Thadd and Capel at backup is the weak spot here, but if Capela can continue from last season and preseason he will be key (esp with Dwight missing games). Wall and Batum with Parker backing them up will make a nice crew of guards. Watch out.

1) Shawn
Like I said my main hole was worrying about minutes because Portis and Huertas' minutes are unknown. I was able to fix that with sessions, and now it seems like Huertas is the backup pg. The team is relatively healthy and sully hopefully played his way back into 10-15 mpg the last 2 preseason games. No injuries right now (Knock on wood). AD will be on another level.

Last year I was too top-heavy on Gs too-- I didn't have any depth. That was my biggest problem-- not the forwards or centers, but needing 30 minutes out of fucking Zach LaVine for a month and a half.

This year, I've got guard depth covered. Not making that mistake again. So I should be good.

two great guards, one good F and a bunch of F's that might be 1.3 or might not play.

And that formula won me a title not too long ago, so I'll stick with it and let Shawn get his chuckles in while he can.

I do. Serge should have no problem getting back to the 1.2s this year with OKC at full strength. Turner is block his way to 1.2 easy. Koufos was a late flier, but easily replaceable if he doesnt pan out. I like his odds.

Marshall's an elite elite elite passer, I'm not questioning that. But he can't do anything else. It's like if Rondo couldn't play defense or drive to the basket or get rebounds.

Look, he may give you some FPPM when he comes back... but I'd imagine they'd be inconsistent, as will the minutes, and that's why I didn't include Marshall in my consideration.

An elite passer can't get heavy minutes on exclusively elite passing if he sucks at pretty much everything else.

Luckily, Philly sucks, so like I said, maybe he's worth the gamble. But I wouldn't bank on him, nor would I consider him when assessing your stash of guards.

So I had a 2:30pm EST interview and left 5 minutes before my next pick landed (there were like 4 picks left...I set contingencies, had Nikola, Faried, Love, Al Jeff then Z-bo. Faried went a pick ahead, Nikola landed, Love and Z-bo went before my next pick...contingency landed on Al Jeff. I figured one of the C's would get taken and I'd get one C and one F. In a perfect world, Al Jeff is Faried.

Also had a trade on the table with Smithers for #34 (34/84 for 44/53). Having to wait 31 picks spooked the hell outta me but if I make that deal I get Nikola 10 picks earlier (still woulda been my pick) woulda still got George Hill at 65 BUT coulda took D-Rose at 84 (5 picks before theo). I figured, given I put 5 guys in with 4 picks left and 9 picks between 44/53, that I'd get one of the C's and likely one of the F's or all 4 of the other guys would get drafted and the draft would have been hung up at 53.

It really was a perfect storm. Just wish I could have put C first priority, then F after C so that if one of the C's was picked via contingency, it doesn't pick another but instead looks for a F on the list and does nothing if there isn't one.

But eh...it is what it is.

If you read the website, it details pretty clearly how the scoring works. If that still doesn't work for you, there are a dozen people in this league willing to answer questions at any time.

That's why I was good right away. I did those things. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did those things and felt like he knew what to do when entering the league.

Other rookies may not do those things, or may take those things for granted. That's fine. But that wasn't my point. My point was against the people saying "this league is really hard to figure out!" No, it really isn't. Not if you read the rules and/or ask for clarifications pre-draft.

I thought, for example if a player got had a slow first half and then got busy in the second half, I'd only get the first half shit he did if I didn't have any minutes left at the position.

The most important number is fantasy points per minute, how many minutes each guy plays is secondary, as long as you find away to get 48 C, 96 G and 96 F. You'll figure it out. (anything about 1.0 fantasy points per minute is what you're looking for though. Ideally 1.2)



And the assholio is what makes this league great!!

Do learn the rules, etc... but people will *always* tell you your trade is awful, your move is awful, you're trying to ruin the league, you've handed the championship to someone, etc. That's a cornerstone of this league.

Just do what you feel is best for your team. Don't sweat the scolding people will inevitably do.

In essence, depth for a superstar. :-|

given that some games get locked ahead of time and you could have injuries and between them
