1) Haven't there been a TON of articles and studies saying kids don't play ball in America anymore, and how that's a big problem? Guess what? They're more likely to play if there are more players like Joey Bat Flip and less sad pandas like you and Brian McCann

2) Hey, maybe don't groove a fastball in a crucial situation in an elimination game, and you won't see that.
2484168, dude got into with encarnacion bc he was tryna get the crowd to calm

Why are you still watching the batter and not the ball? Oh, bc it was a no doubter? So let's get upset at the fact that the guy just flipped his bat but not at the 3 run bomb part. smh.

I used to pitch (granted it was mod pitch softball) but i can't remember once watching what someone did with their bat...i'm too busy following the ball/praying it stays in the hard.

you scrape the dirt around so that when you pitch you have traction...a bunch of folks running over the mound messes that up...that is understandable. Bat toss? Bullshit. Staring too long at your home run? Bullshit.
2538883, yeah, don't walk across the mound.

Toronto tattoo artist immortalizes Jose Bautista bat flip

Jose Bautista’s ALDS-winning home run is already burned into Blue Jays fans’ memories – now the moment is burned into somebody’s skin.

Scoot Mason tattooed the image of Bautista tossing his bat on a client’s thigh. He said it took about five-and-a-half hours to complete.

By: Jillian Kestler-D’Amours Staff Reporter, Published on Fri Oct 16 2015

Scoot Mason says he just wanted to be a part of Blue Jays pandemonium.

So the Toronto tattoo artist did what he knows best: he tattooed.

“I was watching the baseball game the other day and it was just amazing. As soon as I seen the picture, I’m like, ‘Somebody needs to tattoo this,’” he told the Star in a telephone interview on Friday morning.

Mason was talking about the now-iconic image of Jose Bautista hitting the game-winning home run — and then flipping his bat — in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

After sending out a message to his regular clients asking if anyone wanted to immortalize the moment with a tattoo, a local Jays’ fan got in touch, Mason said.

“I put out a message and a guy gave us a shout. He said that he loved my work . . . so he wanted a tattoo (and) came down,” he said. “He’s a little bit of a Jays’ fan. It’s hard not to be when the city’s like this, you know?”

Mason, who works at Forever Young Ink on Queen St. W. , tattooed the image of Bautista tossing his bat on the client’s thigh. He said it took about five-and-a-half hours to complete on Thursday.

Since he posted a photo of the finished tattoo on Instagram, Mason said he’s received “tons of requests” from other people wanting one. And even Joey Bats himself took notice.

2538813, ^ they waited til the last game of the year to plunk Bats
Posted by bentagain, Sun May-15-16 10:17 PM
weird that they played all of the games vs TEX already

some BS to wait until the 8th of the last game to plunk him

and I have no beef with his slide

it was late

but no contact

obviously Joey Bats has never been in a real fight though

homie caught a 2 piece by a dude wearing a baseball glove

LOL
2538816, our team can barely hold a lead as it is

bat flip...

I actually thought waiting like they did made it more ill...

Bats should have just taken it...but really I don't think the slide was that crazy...

either way.... keep your guard up...

2538815, is fucking amazing.
Posted by justin_scott, Sun May-15-16 10:30 PM
every sport needs that balance between celebrating and overly showboating. very rarely do i see anyone really showboating too far (such as mooning crowd at 50 yard line, etc etc, and even that was funny to me).

I wish it went a few seconds longer cause you can see Jose put his hands up almost in prayer and the look on his face is hilarious. Almost cartoonish. Christ he is so annoying and this image just says everything you need to know about him.

Sounds very exciting.
2538929, bat flip makes hurting him with a pitch acceptable?
Posted by justin_scott, Mon May-16-16 01:24 PM
regardless of whether he DID get hurt, he could have been killed (yes i know, extreme situation, but possible). all because he flipped a bat. that is disgusting. it's a major reason why i won't watch baseball. those unwritten rules are so ridiculous and retarded that they make the game unwatchable and unfun.
2538957, 100% ranger fan here and heres the deal
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Mon May-16-16 02:15 PM
hitting him for the bat flip is ridiculous but possible to happen in the MLB world of fragile egos

do i believe they hit him for that?no, atleast not in the sense that bush was told to do it

i believe one of two scenarios

he was told to pitch inside and since encarnacion hasnt been hitting too well if he plunks him so be it, but on the other hand the guy batting right behind him Smoak has been absolutely owning us

or

bush decided to pitch inside on his own and not worry about not hitting him

my reasoning:

the rangers are practically incapable of holding a lead this year. there is no way the manager would put the tying run on board in the 8th with no or 1 outs

can you imagine if they hit him and he comes around to tie, then comes back up in extra innings? toronto already has our number pretty bad, "getting him back" is completely overshadowed by the embarrass list possibilities opened up once you put him on base

just how i see it though

2538962, 100% Jay fan here and even I have to admit.
Posted by denny, Mon May-16-16 02:22 PM
Jose is a douchebag. Not for the bat flip (which I think is fine). He's just a douchebag regardless. lol Seeing him get punched was funny as hell to me.
2538965, ive said it repeatedly, the bat flip is fucking awesome i
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Mon May-16-16 02:27 PM
could watch videos from the J/K leagues all day

i just hate the fake tough guy act. i dont even mind bad slide on odor, theyve been sliding like that for years, dudes are still gonna do that until it costs them enough outs to consciously think about it

but as mentioned before

if a grown man shoves you

and you come back for more

you are now in a fight
2538999, Jose thought they were gonna pretend to fight.
Posted by denny, Mon May-16-16 04:50 PM
lol. Dirty slide....then staredown.... putting your fists up....then acting surprised that you got punched?

The whole sequence was hilarious. All of the holding and hugging and 'don't hold me back' shit. Looked like prom night.

maybe in 5 years from now when hes still not a fuck up will my heart grow warm for him
2539165, I know. The media totally glossed over his past.
Posted by Castro, Tue May-17-16 02:52 AM
Like he was barefoot out in a field, tossing corn cobs through two horseshoes tied together to ma,e a target, waiting for Kevin Costner to roll up in a pickup and say, "Hey son, how'd you like to do that under the big lights?"
2539019, Odor just wanted to hit him, plain and simple
Posted by dgonsh, Mon May-16-16 07:16 PM
he's a dirty player, historically. Im biased as a Blue Jays fan, but I mean...how can anyone say this was warranted? Bautista homered in one of the biggest, most heated playoff moments ever. And he threw his bat away like an orgasmic release (which it was after one of the craziest innings in playoff history?)...he didn't showboat. He didn't taunt. He did his damage and ran the bases.

So...to then wait til the 8th of the 7th game of the season, at home, and plunk him in the ribs at 95mph? FINE. Did bautista slide hard? Hell yeah. Was it illegal? In 2016, sure...but there is actually zero doubt Odur a filthy fuck who wanted to throw down. End of story.

Give him 10 games.
