EXCLUSIVE
LAMAR ODOM
FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE
FOUND UNCONSCIOUS AT NEVADA BROTHEL

10/13/15 8:27 PM PST

139 Lamar Odom is fighting for his life after falling into unconsciousness at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources at the Love Ranch tell us ... 35-year-old Odom arrived at the Ranch Saturday and was partying with the girls for days. A source at the Ranch said Lamar was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra.

We spoke with Hof ... who tells us Tuesday afternoon, a woman went into Odom's room in the VIP suites and found him unconscious.

We're told the woman began screaming for the manager -- who called 911.

The manager rolled Lamar over on his side and saw "mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose ad mouth."

An ambulance took Lamar to Pahrump hospital, where doctors intubated him ... an indication he could not breathe on his own.

We're told Lamar is being airlifted from the hospital to Las Vegas for more treatment.

Our sources tell us, "It's not good."

We're told Lamar had been partying at the ranch by himself -- with no friends or entourage -- and is now alone at the hospital.

The ranch staff says they want to be in the room with Lamar but since they're not allowed since they're not family.

Story developing ...

Posted by Cenario, Wed Oct-14-15 10:24 AM
in any event, I get how the cameras are a part of their life at this point so if THEIR family has some tragedy happening that they want filmed more power to them. But show some respect to the Odom family tho.

2483816, Two possible positive outcomes from this
Posted by Numba_33, Wed Oct-14-15 10:45 AM
1) This will be rock bottom for Lamar Odom and he pulls through this latest mishap with support from former teammates.

2) Harden pulls the ripcord, pushes the eject button, and jettisons himself away from that E! Channel driven madness. That's beyond sickening assuming that's actually true.
2483817, They're terrible but we're all just feeding the beast.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Oct-14-15 10:48 AM
They're far from the biggest problem Lamar has. In fact, when they were married he was arguably his most productive.
2483832, i dont feed those beasts in any way shape or form.
Posted by guru0509, Wed Oct-14-15 11:10 AM
i dont doubt what you said about him being his most productive when he was with her...

it sounds like he needed some sort of family structure

(Lil Wayne)...and Jesse Jackson is known to lie and make things about himself?

TMZ is saying he was in the room for 3 minutes and he's unresponsive, Jackson says he was in there for 30 and he IS responsive.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do...but I don't think we have the same definitions of "responsive". Also him saying "Well, there are tubes..." makes me think that he is knowingly exaggerating how responsive LO was.
2483921, he seems so beloved around the league
Posted by bshelly, Wed Oct-14-15 02:43 PM
the things people are saying about him are above and beyond what you normally here. i hope that love helps him pull through here.
2484036, Not just other players, everyone likes him. Genuine guy.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Oct-14-15 07:56 PM
I have a buddy who covered the Lakers through the whole Shaq/Kobe, Kobe/Pau eras. He told me he was in the locker room pregame before the Lakers beat Orlando for the title in 09 and he asked LO and Fish if they had a sense of what was likely to happen in that locker room in a few hours. Odom just broke down crying, and really opened up about what it meant to him to have the opportunity. He would be loose, too, once he was asked why he went to Rhode Island and he responded by joking "When I signed my rookie contract, I took a pay cut."

Fans loved him too and he was one of the few guys around the Lakers practice facility that had time for them. He was always willing to stop and chat, sign stuff, very personable. You got the sense, and I know this will sound weird under the circumstances, that appreciated what he had and sure as hell remembered where he came from to get it.

I mean obviously his private hell has touched people close to him but you got the sense that he was a positive, sincere person despite all the shit he had been through and was still going through.
2484065, Great ATH footage of Pablo Torre on LO vis a vis Harden
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Wed Oct-14-15 10:29 PM
For those that don't know Torre just did a great piece on Harden which has tidbits of Chloe

http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/13869848/rockets-guard-james-harden-found-place-excel-show-strengths-houston
I recommend the read. It actually paints harden in a weird-not so likable light imo.

Anyhow here is the ATH behind the scenes:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IHgznIGb6pA

People on Reddit saying they wish the show was more like this than actual ATH.
They must have some gold in the vaults of their behind the scenes footage.
2484070, Please LO, pull through this
Posted by LA2Philly, Wed Oct-14-15 10:57 PM
I've been trying so hard not to think about this situation...this dude was the heart of our Lakers squads man, he was the bridge between all the players. Honestly haven't heard a single person talk bad about this dude. He's been through so many tragedies and has so many demons, and the emotion/sincerity which made him so loved often can lead to an unraveling as well.

Please pull through man...let this be rock-bottom but survive it. We're all pulling for you man, please.
2484078, This is hitting me hard.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Oct-15-15 01:02 AM
I just lost a very close friend yesterday. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a similar situation, but a guy who was magnetic and everyone loved him, and yet he fell to a lot of demons. It was after a 3 year vegetative state, or a coma depending on who you ask.

Not that I knew, or even met Lamar, but it's similar enough to really strike a chord with me, and it's fucking awful.

I want him to pull through this so badly.

Basketball alone likely wouldn't have saved Lamar. Someone who is suffering from an addiction needs time to examine the whole of their life and to find a way to heal from their grief. Basketball would have only distracted him from the care he needs.

the last part is debatable tho.
2484471, I think it's mostly true...I asked my lady if she'd heard about LO's situation
Posted by Wonderl33t, Fri Oct-16-15 10:42 AM
She hadn't heard about it but immediately asked, Is he dead? Just because she'd seen how depressed and spiraling down he was on the show.

2484477, how do you figure?
Posted by Cenario, Fri Oct-16-15 10:46 AM
you think there'd be up to the second updates on another out of the nba, never an all star, not in the media spotlight (bc LO hasn't exactly been relevant aside from the KArdashians and drug news the last few years)?

Like if LO is a household name its bc of the kardashians...just like non sports fan females know who James HArden, Frnech, and Kris humphries are bc of the kardashians.
2484483, yep.

i know that certain folks jump at the opportunity of making other folks look bad or worse.

and i know that only a selective few have such resources to do this effectively.
2484486, and if no one knows who they are no one cares
Posted by Cenario, Fri Oct-16-15 10:52 AM
LO wasn't a household name before Khloe, sorry.

This could happen to current dudes in the league and it wouldn't be as big a deal outside of sports world.

2486763, could be exactly what he needs. he didn't OD while they were together.

2486766, that is not the logical statement you think it is
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Oct-23-15 12:08 PM
2486770, i didn't mean it to be.
Posted by Damali, Fri Oct-23-15 12:21 PM
i was trying (and maybe failing LOL) to disprove his illogical statement

point being, none of us knows what's best for him...it's best for him to choose his own life and deal with what comes from that choice. maybe they really do love each other and he literally had trouble functioning without her in his life..who knows? sometimes near-death experiences inspire folks to live differently/better...

d
2486856, Perhaps, depends on when you think his spiral began
Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Oct-23-15 02:08 PM
In my line of work, I have to be well acquainted with addiction research and understanding, particularly as it pertains to medications. From my understanding of the situation, his spiral began while he was still in that marriage and much of that stemmed from all of the media attention...that's why I am concerned about him getting back together with her and having those same triggers back in his life. The OD obviously happened afterward, but what is of most concern is what started his path to that point....
2486787, Really, it's "We're not getting divorced"
Posted by Ryan M, Fri Oct-23-15 01:00 PM
Which is a GOOD THING. Addicts don't need these major changes when they're so new in recovery. They shouldn't get divorced, and they shouldn't get back together. Sounds like Khloe is just there to be with him, which ultimately is good.
2486869, you don't know that.

2543311, The shit is like cancer, you beat its ass, it comes back stronger sometimes
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jun-03-16 03:54 PM
Unfortunately I have had some people very close to me who had to deal with it. Fortunately all but one is doing very well today and most of them got clean and stayed clean. But a couple didn't. One guy was Lamar, just constantly on and off and back on again. Dude was a rich kid from Napa yet ended up doing a few bids, just senseless on his part really, and if he broker I have no doubt he'd still be locked up now. The other guy was an older dude who beat a bad coke habit before I even knew him. Almost 20 years on (with a family, good job, guap, etc), he fell off the wagon HOARD, almost trashed everything over that booger sugar. It's tough and it's complicated, the way people get hooked is not the cookie cutter shit you see on TV.
