That said - of course the best Lakers would beat the dogshit out of the best Bulls. By 50? Who cares? They'd win.

2466823, the Lakers 2nd team might win too
Posted by DJR, Mon Jul-20-15 06:45 PM
Go West and Goodrich as the guards, Worthy and either Wilkes or Gasol as the forwards, and Wilt....and that's probably beating the Bulls best 5 too.
2467097, the Bulls squad Shaq picked maybe. Put Artis Gilmore on there though...

Mike
Rose
Pippen
Rodman
Gilmore

^^^ that Bulls team beats the Lakers 2nd team, and make it a closer game vs LA's 1st team than ppl think.
2466817, I wouldn't *ever* get into a jone-off with Shaq.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Jul-20-15 06:31 PM
Dude is one of the funniest motherfuckers in the history of the league.

And yes, the Lakers would easily win by 50.
2466818, agreed.

2466828, They never played in a conference with the Spurs...
Posted by Kira, Mon Jul-20-15 07:28 PM
Don't make me find a post on another forum that ranks those Jordan era Bulls' strength of schedule relative to other Superstars in NBA history across both conferences.

Kobe/Shaq won rings going through the West with tougher competition.
2466831, great. 6 tho.

... IN THEIR PRIME.

The Pistons fell off at the point those Bulls teams started to rise and peak so Chuck Daly doesn't count. Keep in mind we're chopping this 6 rings fable on some proper perspective agenda shit.

Obviously, Jordan couldn't get past those Chuck Daly led teams without Scottie Pippen or Feel so salute to Chuck and the Pistons. That entire era had to fall off and leave the Bulls alone as favorites to win titles.

TL;DR Those prime Bulls teams never faced an all-time great coach in conference.

11>6
5≥6 considering those are rings won coming out of the VASTLY more difficult western conference

The Knicks were a REAL THREAT...they just choked (and I'm a Knick fan)
Charles Smith goes up strong and the story is possibly re-written

Outside of the Spurs, which coach did the Lakers go through (so far, I listed Riley, Daly, and Brown, 3 HOF's?...add Lenny Wilkens, which would make 4)

Rick Adelman (Bulls went through him too)
George Karl (not in their league)
Larry Brown (Bulls went through him too)
Mike D'Antoni (LOL)

Anyone saying the 2000's Western Conference was somehow HARDER than the 90's Eastern Conference is crazy

The Knicks were never a threat with prime Pippen and Jordan leading the Bulls to six chips. Your statement is revisionist history at best.

You're telling me the Cavs and Hawks teams were a threat to stop the prime Bulls from reaching the eastern conference finals. NO, you're wrong and I'm a Cavs fan.

There's one coach that debunks your revisionist history and emphatically proves the 2000's Western Conference was tougher than the 90's Eastern Conference: Greg Popovich.

The Spurs won the title the year before Feel arrived in LA. The west was so competitive Prime Shaq, who could win with anyone as 1A according to okaysports, couldn't reach the NBA finals with Del Harris at the helm.

The Spurs won titles and are legit title contenders. They aren't the only team in the west either. This wasn't a case of the Bulls having a free run to the finals. No, Spurs are legit threats.

You wrong on this agenda and I can shatter this strength of schedule myth Jordania holds up as proof of Jordan's greatness.

Degree of difficulty was tougher on 5 than that easy cakewalk shit Jordan went through in the east. Don't even get me started on that 2008 to 2010 run where Kobe had to lead the shit out of the Lakers.

it's funny, I bought a Shaq Cavs jersey for 2 reasons:
- they brought back the GOAT blue/orange
- the idea of Shaq at anytime on the Cavs was ridiculous.

I was originally looking for a Boobie Gibson, couldn't find it

I hope they bring those back, I'm coppin' the Kyrie

Lakers get to pick from multiple eras of HOFers.
2467102, and Artis Gilmore, a 7-2 HOF center
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Tue Jul-21-15 02:55 PM
so it's 4 HOFers + an MVP who was on HOF trajectory before the knee injuries.

Lakers probably still win, but it'd be closer than ppl seem to think.
2467130, I love Artis Gilmore but he's not a HOF'er in the way Shaq, Wilt, Cap are
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jul-21-15 05:19 PM
Their bench would be kind of thin but pretty good. Gilmore, Gervin, Theus, Sloan, Van Leer. Respectable but I mean the Lakers and Celtics are on another level. There aren't many competitive teams as far as all-time greats, maybe Philly or the Knicks. I don't think Detroit or Golden State measure up all that well even.
2467183, he doesn't need to be, he'd just need to hold his own

this was just comparing starting fives. but yeah if it's a 12 man squad the Lakers obviously kill everyone.

2467152, Shaq was "Batman" on 3/4 of the title teams he was on in
Posted by vee-lover, Tue Jul-21-15 08:29 PM
comparison to Pippen who was "Robin" on 6 of those Bulls title teams

BUT

in fairness to Pippen, he overachieved as a player considering his small college background. Its important to note too that once the Bulls started winning titles was when Pippen reached HIS prime...he averaged more rebs, assists, and steals than MJ...and he guarded the other team's best perimeter player(s) which is why he stated he was "Lebron before Lebron"

Whereas there are those in many basketball circles who believe Shaq somewhat underachieved considering his dominance, enormous physical advantage over opposing centers, and skill level

I personally thought Shaq should've been a more dominant rebounder and shot blocker

2467168, RE: Shaq was "Batman" on 3/4 of the title teams he was on in
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jul-21-15 10:29 PM
Vis-a-vis Shaq that is just the typical "nobody roots for Goliath" argument where he could not have possibly done enough. Overall he was the most dominant player IN THE WORLD for a while. I can't nitpick that. He still probably the guy I'd take at his best in the post-Jordan era over anyone else.

Pippen might have gone to a small school but he was a fifth overall pick, not exactly under the radar.
2467191, RE: Shaq was &quot;Batman&quot; on 3/4 of the title teams he was on in

>Vis-a-vis Shaq that is just the typical "nobody roots for
>Goliath" argument where he could not have possibly done
>enough.

How many times did Shaq lead the league in rebounding? How abt block shots per gm? And we all know he didn't like to stay in shape and was known to play himself into shape during the season

Overall he was the most dominant player IN THE WORLD
>for a while.

At 7'1" 330 HE SHOULD'VE BEEN THE MOST DOMINANT PLAYER IN THE WORLD...considering his opponents were giving up on average almost 75-100 lbs. He was his most dominant when the center position was in a decline

I can't nitpick that. He still probably the guy
>I'd take at his best in the post-Jordan era over anyone else.

Not me - I'd take
Duncan and Bron
>Pippen might have gone to a small school but he was a fifth
>overall pick, not exactly under the radar.

No one was expecting Pippen to become the player he became (50 greatest player of all-time, one of the best perimeter defenders ever)

Stacey King was selected no.6 the following season and look how he turned out...just saying

Pippen maximized his potential...I don't feel like Shaq maximized his...he was still great but w/his talent and size we should talking abt him as the GOAT
