Kyrie out, Demarre back (at what strength?) and Bron wanted by CPS for questioning in the abuse of Paul Millsap. Expect some kind of goofy, defense by committee shit on Bron tonight. Shump puts the clamps on Teague's Captain Phillips extra lookin ass and the Cavs effectively end the series tonight with a strong game from the Kang and solid contributions from J Arruh and Try-Hard Tristan.

Posted by Vex_id, Sat May-23-15 12:19 AM
They don't appreciate anomalous greatness that will never be seen again. Ever.

Except in Bron's case - the hate is beyond bizarre because he's an exemplary family man, champion in every community he's in in terms of outreach and consistently being a genuine, believable positive role model.

His 'sin' was leaving a dysfunctional franchise and leaving his home town to experience new challenges and to become a better man and basketball player in South Beach where he played with one of his best friends.

He didn't rape anybody. Didn't physically abuse women. Never has been in trouble. Just goes out there and plays basketball in the purest way possible.

People just hate life in general, so naturally they'd hate anything that is reflective of what's good in the world, including the indelible Unified Field Theory in Motion known as Lebron James.

He won't magically get better in 10 days. He likely won't even be 50%.

Cleveland is there to be beat now, and you better get them now - because if they come back fully healthy next year it's a real problem for the league.

Man get out of here with this bullshit...Blatt? Ha! LeBron James once took one of the worst "playoff" constructed teams early in his career to the Finals...

The only real competition for these Cavs was a Bulls team that struggled to score....Nah man...It's the greatness of James' all around game mixed with the wackness of the East....

If you don't have a title, then wins are on the talent, and losses are on you. If you win a title or have won in the past, you will get consideration for making a difference.

Same is true of major conference NCAA coaches too, really. "But can he win you a title?" was asked of K, Cal, Self, Roy, etc. before each respectively won.
2448716, RE: The plight of 98% of professional coaches.
Posted by murph71, Sat May-23-15 12:07 PM

That's not whats going on in this case...Someone got ahead of themselves on some "Coach of the Year who" shit...lol

And I simply called bullshit...I'm sure Blatt will be a good coach....But I believe that a once in a lifetime player like LeBron James is 90 percent of the reason why the Cavs are winning games they shouldn't be winning...

That all around game of his is on display....And in the weak ass East, Bron can basically write his own ticket with ANY team or coach to the Finals....

Mike Brown knows this...So does Boobie Gibson.....
2448728, I'm curious if people really think lebron wouldn't run the west too

2448736, And just because the west is stacked moreso than the east doesn't
Posted by vee-lover, Sat May-23-15 02:59 PM
mean that the Cavs couldn't beat those teams in a 7 gm series - it might take more gms than it did against the Cavs EC opponents but I think the way this Cavs team is playing D they could beat any of those teams in the west w/the exception of maybe GS and the Spurs....and if Bron had a healthy Kyrie and KLove I'd have him/Cavs as the favs against any team out west

>I mean you put lebron on any of the playoff teams out west

Posted by dula dibiasi, Sat May-23-15 05:53 PM
"I'm curious if people really think lebron wouldn't run the west too"

lebron's lost to the western conference champion in 3 out of 5 tries. in a month, that total will likely be 4 out of 6.

what evidence is there that makes you think he'd "run through the west" every year?
2448775, common sense?
Posted by DJPoke, Sat May-23-15 08:14 PM
The teams out west are more stacked right?

I think yal are putting his east teams in the west. All I'm saying is if he was actually playing in the west on one of those superior teams (even if you swap out a star player with him) he would run the west. Can't believe I'm defending this dude but some of yal are ridiculous.
2448817, lulz. ok guy.
Posted by dula dibiasi, Sat May-23-15 09:31 PM
he was 2 for 4 vs the west's best with wade, bosh and good role guys.
that's as stacked as anyone he'd be playing with out west.

if you're saying he'd have won the last 5 western conf finals
i'm gonna need a better argument than BUT DUDE HE'S LEBRON

unless you're just talking about adding him on top of an already-
existing west playoff roster without removing anyone? i.e. in
addition to *also still having* paul/griffin/jordan, conley/gasol/TA/z-bo,
lills/LMA/wes/batum, etc?

i mean, in that case, yeah. of course. duh. that's a pretty silly hypothetical tho.

2448708, And how he basically turned an elite OFF team into
Posted by Kajun, Sat May-23-15 10:39 AM
an elite DEF team in 3 weeks time due to injuries. The Cavs were a bottom half defensive team in the regular season, and now they look like the damn 04 Pistons.

Bron rightfully gets the most credit here, but Blatt has done an excellent job. The end of that one game was brutal, but it was ultimately a minor incident and has overshadowed a really terrific coaching job in these playoffs.

Now Bron makes so much of this possible with his all around amazingness, but the Blatt hate is really unwarranted at this point. In particular, the way he has used his (sketchy) bench is very creative.
2448710, right...and cats act like coaches don't grow and evolve for the better...

Unless they went 30-52 or some shit, no one is gonna keep re-booting with the head coach spot. Dude will be fine. Plus, he's got the best player in the galaxy to learn with.

2448732, Exactly. Bron gets the lion's share and Blatt deserves some as well
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat May-23-15 02:40 PM
There's absolutely no doubt that Lebron has shaped the confidence of this team...his leadership and willingness to make the right play damn near every time feeds the entire team a whole lot of confidence. Parallel to that, Blatt as you said, has done a very good job of creating a defensive identity, managing the bench, and adjusting in-game to take away opposition strengths.
2448752, Did you say this when Mike Brown was doing as much with less?

Blame? LeBron James....That's it....

I can see with my own eyes....James was the reason Boobie Gibson took up space in the NBA....What do u think he would do with a JR Smith?

I'm going to point to the exceptional talent that saved his mediocre to decent NBA coach who took a timeout in front of a ref that should have been called...

It starts with James and it ends with James....
2448731, So Blatt gets no credit for the def identity, adjustments, or bench rotation

Thanks for proving my point.
2448717, Blatt's done a fair job. Serviceable.
Posted by Vex_id, Sat May-23-15 12:09 PM
Love how cats' arguments shapeshift to try and fit their agenda tho. lol

So is it that the "Hawks suck bro" - or is that Blatt is doing a great job?
Just so we're clear.

The reason for this Cleveland turn around (people forget they were 19-20 & under .500 nearly mid-way through the season) is because of great GM moves bringing in Moz, and a brilliant trade to transform Waiters into Shump/JR (basically 2-for-1 in talent whereby both guys play distinctive, complementing roles).

And of course, the only reason this Cavs team is still in the playoffs is obviously clear:
Lebron James. After he came back from his break in Miami to get his body/mind right, he had not just a renewed physical spirit, but his heart/mind was locked in, and the Cavs were the most dominant team in the game from about the all-star break up until Love getting UFC'd on in game 4 of the first round and Ky's injuries rendering his lower body too gimpy to plant/explode, and do Ky-type things off the dribble.

He's done a fair job. But that's what you'd expect from a rookie coach who is brand spanking new to the NBA game. Give him time. He's got a very good supportive coaching staff who have done a nice job of acclimating him to the NBA game. It's also kinda nice to have the game's greatest genius orchestrating and leading on the court, processing plays and strategies at quantum speed in real time.

Bron is teaching Blatt, and Blatt's learning.

-->
2448726, Can't it be all three?
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat May-23-15 01:46 PM
Bron gives Blatt such a great base to work from and such a versatile centerpiece, and obviously Bron is the best player in the world. Blatt has coached a lot of different teams in a lot of different situations, knows where to put the emphases and how to use his personnel under trying circumstances.

Even if you have some nitpicky shit to say about any of that, the Hawks unequivocally suck for a conference finalist. They have no consistent element of their game right now. A lot of it is Blatt's defensive strategy, he has forced them to play one-on-one a ton. Some of it is injuries, regardless of what Cleveland has going on (again their leaders carrying them through it), the Hawks are beat up now and can't recover as easily, not at all. Back end of their bench is wack and their front line guys are not performing.

So they are wack, Bron and Blatt are both playing a part in making them look wacker. Which is it? It's all three. That's why agendas are so foolish, as highlighted by ridiculous ones such as Steph vs Klay and Blake vs CP3.

>because of great GM moves bringing in Moz, and a brilliant

Blatt first told Griffin about his interest in Mozgov shortly after being hired, but the Cavaliers were rebuffed after making overtures to the Nuggets last summer. Cleveland sweetened the offer as the need for a rim protector became evident following Varejao’s Achilles injury. Denver, whose season had stalled, accepted two first-round picks for Mozgov and a second-round pick.

https://grantland.com/features/timofey-mozgov-cleveland-cavaliers/

So Mozgov was Blatt's guy from the jump (coached him on a russian national team, which put Tim on the map), Blatt trusted Delly even when he was making mistakes, seamlessly incorporated JR and Shump and got his guys peaking at the right time the the 'offs.

Anti-Blatt agenda is a losing endeavor at this point. He's going to the Finals his first year. That's job security. And with this team it means titles. Multiple. Not bad for a first NBA coaching gig.
