2428255, Guys, I'm seriously not ok
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:01 PM
I have never been so wrong about anything sports related as Chip Kelly. Haters, you were right and I was so very wrong. This is the biggest L of my 15 year career by a large margin. Bookmark this all you'd like, because I will not be proven wrong. If I am, I will gladly take another L, but we all know that isn't going to happen. My coach is Steve Fuckinh Spurrier on the strongest steriods available.

FUCK
2428258, This is the best thing that could have happened to the Eagles.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Mar-10-15 08:07 PM
Not Chip Kelly.

Shells posting about how Chip Kelly is going to fail.

This means Chip Kelly is destined for success.

2428261, Oh. I'm PRAYING to jinx this
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:13 PM
Not my purpose though. This is the worst deal a philly team has ever made. Worse than Roy Hinson. Worse than Charles Barkley. Worse even that Jeff Fucking Rutland. This can all be fixed if Bradford is a trade chip. Otherwise? chip Kelly is the single most destructive coach in Philadelphia sports history, and yes I remember Rich Kotite.
2428320, Jesus Christ, I'm gonna have to deliver the Vito Corleone slap soon
Posted by Bombastic, Tue Mar-10-15 10:47 PM
YOU CAN ACT LIKE A MAN!!!

Comparing Nick Foles to Charles Barkley or trading the #1 pick in the NBA Draft for Roy Hinson or Moses Malone for Jeff Ruland to taking a flyer on Sam Bradford in the last year of his deal is an unsememly example of being a prisoner of the moment drunk on emotion.

I advise eight hours of sleep and a temporary moratorium on alcohol consumption before posting again.

We'll get through this, Shelly Fontaine.

Always do.
2428322, don't ever take sides against the family again, bomb.

2428265, in three years chip will have Clemson leading the nation in offense

2428294, I say Da U...Dabo Swinney is doin jus fine.

2428264, Based on the Foles trade? You're joking right
Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:18 PM
We know Foles doesn't have the skillset to be the guy in Chip's system, Bradford very well may have the accuracy to take it to the next level.

Don't really understand what all the emotional doom and gloom is about. Chip is addressing the defensive side of the ball and then believing in his offensive system to maximize the potential on that side.

2428269, let it be known then: shells ain't got no love for Foles
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:23 PM
He's an average starter.

WHICH MAKES HIM TWO FUCKING LEVELS BETTER THAN BACKUP BRADFORD?

New ad campaign: 3 yard completions in 3rd and 8: NOT A PLAY BUT A MOTHERFUCKING LIFESTYLE
2428270, I love how Foles is somehow the watershed moment for Eagle fans
Posted by Bombastic, Tue Mar-10-15 08:24 PM
Cutting Desean?

Oh, that makes sense!

Trading Lesean McCoy for an Oregon linebacker recovering from a second ACL surgery?

Part of the plan, we needed that for more cap space!

Letting Maclin walk?

Let's wait, Chip's got a plan.

Trading this slow-footed flash-in-the-pan who has beaten one playoff team in three seasons?

ABANDON SHIP!(c)Bus/Spliff
2428275, I hate nick foles more than anyone. Ain't about that.
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:29 PM
This is about the plan being Sam Fucking Bradford, who is a LOT worse than nick foles
2428277, I dont agree. Dont get me wrong, dont know how we gotta give up picks
Posted by Bombastic, Tue Mar-10-15 08:38 PM
to take a flyer on Bradford for a year but I have no doubt Bradford is more talented.
2428281, There's zero doubt Bradford is more talented
Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:44 PM
I don't know what Shells is talking about. Bradford in his rookie year under Shurmur (who is btw our offensive coordinator, which I know you know Bomb) showed a pretty damn impressive skill-set. If we can keep him protected, he has the accuracy to be very good in this offense.

Also regarding his injuries, I believe all of them have been contact below the knee injuries. That kind of acute trauma is far less of a concern than non-impact injuries where there is some bio-mechanical problem.
2428296, Pretty much said the same thing in that trade post...
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Mar-10-15 09:29 PM
he was offensive rookie of the year under Shurmur. He had Sam getting the ball out of his hands quickly. Sam also excels at throwing on the run, where he's extremely accurate. These assholes ran Shurmur out of town. He was "too vanilla". So here comes josh McDaniels trying to run the offensive as if he actually has real, deep threat receivers and an even average offensive line. I saw some of the most bizarre play calling I've ever seen when he was here. Sam never had a chance. He was on pace for historic sack totals. He was beginning to turn into Marc Bulger. Dude has never had a sturdy o line and his best receiver was Brandon Lloyd. People like to joke about the injuries, but I bet probably 5 people on here can honestly say they know how they happened or were watching when they happened...cuz who watches Rams games...let alone pre season Rams games? The first one happened against Carolina, on the sidelines as he was running for his life, the second in fucking pre season when Jake Long (great free agent pick up that was) made a lazy half assed attempt to block his man and let him torpedo Sam right below the knee cap. So, I'm still riding with him until he gets a fair shot. His story hasn't been written.
2428297, Exactly...context matters, a whole lot
Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Mar-10-15 09:33 PM
2428284, To be clear, this is the straw that broke me
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:49 PM
I didn't agree with desean jackson and thought the org looked completely classless trotting out the gang shit, but I was willing to give the genius the benefit of the doubt.

Shady shocked me, but I tried to understand that RBs aren't worth that cap hit. But suspicion was rising.

Maclin and Frank Gore had me on the edge. Gore is fucking too old and we wanted him, and I think this motherfucker is really going to start Huff and Cooper on the outside, BECAUSE THEY WERE GOOD IN FUCKING COLLEGE.

this is it, I'm done with this motherfucker. He traded a second round fucking pick for a straight BUM who is worse than Foles, BECAUSE HE WON THE HEISMAN WHEN CHIP AS IN COLLEGE.

this broke-ass bitch thinks he's smarter than everyone else, he sees shit no one else can see, when in reality he's just saying "oh ho ho! Hated covering him with my undersized two star recruits in ugly jerseys!"

Fuck chip kelly.
2428287, I hear you loud and clear, but let's at least wait for some games before
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Tue Mar-10-15 09:02 PM
(post meant to go below, my bad)
we pronounce the Eagles/Chip dead. The defense *should* be markedly better (especially if we can add a competent starting S and decent CB). That's a start. I'm scared for the offense. Huff - as much as he frustrated me as an early pick and player - he did show flashes of big time potential. He's got wheels. Cooper is a fucking bum and should have never been extended. Matthews should be better and he's already good.

QB situation is scary. Sanchez is a turnover machine. The hope is that we become a more ball control offense. But that raises the important question of, 'who's going to be our primary back?' I really wish we would have gotten Roy Helu on the cheap - I think he's extremely underrated. We can still draft an extremely good back in rounds 2-3.

*IF* and that's a big fucking IF, Bradford can stay healthy, he does have a ton of untapped potential to be a legit NFL starting QB. But again, that's a gigantic IF.

I hear ya. I really do. But I'm holding out judgment until I see the full results.
2428280, How can anyone hate Nick Foles? I don't get this at all. Dude has
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Tue Mar-10-15 08:39 PM
done nothing but give his best to the Eagles. He's done some really nice things in stretches. I get it if you don't see him as star material, but he's certainly proved he can play at the NFL level. I'd rather have him as my starting QB than Sanchez or Bradford, but that's not saying a whole lot.

I'm still trying to process this trade. Obviously Bradford has more upside than Foles, but he's been nothing short of fools gold since leaving Oklahoma. I'm holding out hope that there's a very interested 3rd party soon to be involved in the trade.
2428285, Appreciated his effort and competency
Posted by bshelly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:52 PM
Really didn't appreciate any talk of him being the longer, answer. I'd take him over Bradford any day of the week
2428271, He is not a defensive "guru"
Posted by Musa, Tue Mar-10-15 08:25 PM
so the moves come off as counter intuitive including the missed free agent signings and terrible trades of lesser value.

He is a sucker of a GM. Andy at least was good in Free agency for the most part.
2428279, Huh? The moves are perfectly intuitive
Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Mar-10-15 08:38 PM
If you have a coach who is extremely good at maximizing his offense, then why would he go out and spend a lot on his offense? That makes no sense.
2428282, Furthermore, Andy was TERRIBLE in evaluating/bringing in outside talent
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Tue Mar-10-15 08:46 PM
$40 million to Stacy Andrews?
$100 million or whatever it was to Nnamdi?
Choosing Brandon Graham over Earl Thomas?
Choosing a Canadian firefighter who didn't belong on an NFL field in the first round?
Completely neglecting special teams as if they didn't exist?
Drafting Kevin Kolb to replace McNabb?

Chip's been making some odd moves, but it's ridiculous to draw conclusions when he hasn't even coached 1 game since taking over GM duties.
2428306, He was 60/40 good to bad

I'll trade you Pettine for Kelly. It's way too early to give up on Chip. Isn't Bradford a salary dump or a trade piece? I doubt he lasts long as a starter anyway.

i hope he stays healthy and is a beast but even when dude was healthy it's not like anyone was salivating over some elite potential he was showing
he was in that ryan tannehill 'not terrible but just a guy' territory

fuck it i'm too deep on the chip bandwagon at this point, i'ma wait

if the eagles go 16-0 this year and win a super bowl with bradford at QB, it'll be the most entertaining thing ever. if the eagles go 0-16 this year and get the 2016 #1 overall pick with bradford at QB, it'll be the most entertaining thing ever. i've got a year supply of popcorn saved up and ready to go for a team i don't even care about.
2428341, except it will probably be mediocre and unsexy.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Mar-11-15 02:55 AM
i feel that way about the sixers, too. i don't see it being an epic failure or an epic success. the team will probably get pretty good at one point with some part of this group. think like early 90s cavs. no laughing stalk, no legend.

that's just a mostly blind guess. i have a much stronger feeling the eagles will be exactly where they don't want to be. 10-6 with an early exit or something.
2428351, I'm not happy about things (except Foles getting TFO)
Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Mar-11-15 05:03 AM
and "happy" is not quite the word; I've just felt the Foles experiment was unnecessarily extended by a season thanks to the 27 TD performance. But I knew that it was smoke and mirrors then. If only Michael Vick had last year's health and the Eagles had Sanchise earlier to know just how not-a-difference he was in the end of it all.

But yeah. Sammy B and future picks, I don't know what to tell you.

but this HAS to be leading somewhere. Has to be.
2428375, Honestly, I'm more worried when Eagles fans are happy
Posted by stattic, Wed Mar-11-15 08:42 AM

We are losers and don't have the proper perspective to identify a winner or winning ways. But let's look at the moves. We kidded ourselves into thinking that Vick or Foles were ever going to get us to the promise land. Let's be honest, Foles isn't that great and Vick wouldn't have run Chip's offense the way he needs for it to be fully effective.

I don't know how the Bradford trade will work out, and it does scare me, but nothing else has really bothered me. I did not want them to sign LeSean to a long-term deal. He was not the same player last year and his best days are likely behind him or coming up very soon. I felt that it was also the right move to get rid of Desean Jackson. The only part that was unfair, and criminally unfair, was to cite his childhood friends as troubling gang ties. He provided enough ammo in terms of alligator arms, his lack of blocking, and his absences from team meetings to justify his release. We don't know who is responsible for that bs though.

Also, while Maclin is good, I don't want to invest that much money in him. I think Huff can be very good and Matthews was my favorite non-Cox player last year (what can I say, I love Cox). I just wish we never signed Riley Cooper, not just for that concert bs, but because he didn't produce and was whiny and lacked effort at times last year.

At this point, I'm just a scared, loser fan of the most brutal team on Earth, so I don't really have the context to evaluate what's going on, but I hope things work out.
2428450, You're an Eagle fan from NY?

Posted by LA2Philly, Wed Mar-11-15 02:49 PM
So many rings to show for it. Woe is me that there's a coach who has his a vision on how to win and now has the resources and control to pursue it outright.

Posted by gmltheone, Wed Mar-11-15 05:07 AM

I was legitimately horrified at his bench press when he came in, and I loved using Durant hate as a way to piss of Longhorn people.

But when push came to shove, who was the first person to draft Durant in the first round of Survivor? Two thumbs pointing at this guy. I never particularly cared for Durant and still don't, but I don't know that I ever said he would bust.
