the fines are made up and the suspensions don't matter.

it's particularly true in sports where they need clear discipline the most. like the NBA has kind of automated its suspensions (at least many of them) and they come down hard on certain shit (fighting). but in football and hockey where they really need order, the league is wildly inconsistent. hockey is trying this dumb crap with the videos explaining the suspensions. the NFL is just throwing darts at a door.
