2376324, they gettin Todd Gurley up outta there Posted by CherNic, Thu Oct-09-14 05:16 PM
Suspended indefinitely due to alleged NCAA rules violations. Not too much detail yet but I'm seeing rumors about autographs

2376337, lost the Heisman; great for his pro outlook though Posted by will_5198, Thu Oct-09-14 05:16 PM
as long as it's dumb NCAA eligibility stuff and nothing criminal. he's shown all he needed to at the college level and saves himself a half-season of carries before his rookie NFL year.

2376339, true, but even better for U(sic)GA schadenfreude Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-09-14 05:23 PM

2376346, this was u(sic)ga's call so far Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-09-14 05:58 PM
This is preventative action against forfeiture down the road
The NCAA hasnt levelled any punishment against him yet

2383655, yep, i'd be secretly celebrating if i were him Posted by Jon, Wed Oct-29-14 09:11 PM

2376341, This is bullshit. Posted by BennyTenStack, Thu Oct-09-14 05:25 PM
Tennessee would be 4-1 if Treon Harris and Gurley would have messed up two weeks earlier. I fully expect us to get beat by Ole Miss 24-21 and have Nkemdiche and Bo Wallace suspended the next day.

2376342, Meanwhile, the NCAA has lifted all sanctions against PSU Posted by calij81, Thu Oct-09-14 05:49 PM
|
2376345, nope, that doesn't apply here. Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-09-14 05:56 PM
AJ Green got caught doing the same shit at the same school. Thats a very high level of stupidity.
|
2376352, good for him. Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Oct-09-14 06:36 PM
didn't want to see him take another workhorse load this year.
|
2376354, these rules are so horribly draconian. Posted by PROMO, Thu Oct-09-14 06:39 PM
i mean, you're not allowed to make money off your own signature -something that should never be illegal under any circumstances IMHO...that's your everlasting piece of intellectual property.
yet, they say "why doesn't Gurley go out and get a job?" now, if he wanted a job you know why he'd get hired - cuz he's Todd Gurley! he's gonna get hired cuz it's a good look for whomever hires him OR because someone connected to the program goes "don't worry, i have a job for you".
it's just a fucking joke. meanwhile, the UGA/NCAA websites stay hawkin that #3 jersey.

2376443, 2 other ?'s. Why only take $400.00? And why'd the guy snitch on him Posted by rjc27, Fri Oct-10-14 08:05 AM
Him accepting $400.00 just makes me feel bad... he signed 80 items! Let's say the stuff sells at an average of at least 50 bucks each that's 4 grand!! If you know you're breaking the rules, make more then 400 bucks
Then you have the piece of shit that gave him the 400.00, knowing he was raping him, then at some point decides to go tell on him?
My other question about this rule is... Are these places allowed to sell autograph's of these players? They just can't pay for it? So random people can make money selling the signature of the player, but the player can't charge a penny to sign it? It's just mind boggling it really is

2376447, Probably an Auburn fan Posted by Frank Mackey, Fri Oct-10-14 08:11 AM

2376459, look at where he goes to school Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Oct-10-14 08:49 AM
Mafamaticks isnt their strong suit up there

2376558, It's not the only time he's done it Posted by Marauder21, Fri Oct-10-14 01:28 PM
At least according to the asshole merch dealer who snitched.

2376559, so the guy pays Gurley for signing shit Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Oct-10-14 01:32 PM
thinking that he had an exclusive arrangement, and now hes mad because Gurley shopped his shit elsewhere?
sounds like they deserve each other lol
|
2376560, also this should go in Compliance 101 Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Oct-10-14 01:34 PM
no one can roll around with pigs and expect to stay clean.
this should be shown to athletes so they can see what kind of people they would have to get in bed with to make some illegal* cash
*from ncaa standpoint, not real law obviously

2376589, RE: 2 other ?'s. Why only take $400.00? And why'd the guy snitch on him Posted by The Real, Fri Oct-10-14 03:20 PM

Basically once you sign that letter of intent you give away all your rights. Schools and others can profit off of you, you just cannot profit off of yourself.

2376611, It's a Florida fan. End of. Posted by B9, Fri Oct-10-14 06:26 PM
Seriously, and I'm not a UGA fan, but those folks (sorry Sam) are SCUM.
|
2376445, Love it for UGA, hate it for Gurley Posted by Frank Mackey, Fri Oct-10-14 08:09 AM
Even though he'll probably be better for it in the long run.
|
2376465, I don't think he'll suit up again Posted by cipha_2, Fri Oct-10-14 09:19 AM
Mark Richt don't wanna get Tressel'd. He already has way too many player getting in trouble. UGA might as well play in orange jumpsuits.
|
2376616, NCAA pigs really mad about that Ed O'Bannon...they crushed this kid Posted by Castro, Fri Oct-10-14 06:43 PM
for $400. That's not even half of what they bet on the front nine at Augusta when they meet up for a 'business meeting' to discuss which Madame service they are going to use for this year's Orange bowl.
|
2376680, this is voluntary UGA action Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Oct-11-14 01:49 PM
If he comes up as having taken inmproper benefits, UGA will have to forfeit those games, possibly negating an SECCG appearance
They sat him for that on their own accord

2383651, He's blazing fast but takes forever to get going, not sure he'll have the Posted by Jon, Wed Oct-29-14 09:10 PM
consistent openings to pick up steam in today's NFL. He seems sluggish early in runs, large target, I just get that bust vibe about him, unless a fantastic run-blocking team nabs him.

2383862, I thought the same thing about Lacy. I was dead wrong Posted by Ralo13, Thu Oct-30-14 10:09 AM

2384048, Yeah that's not a bad point at all. Lacy example bodes well for him. Posted by Jon, Thu Oct-30-14 04:45 PM

2383877, Nah, he's the real deal. Posted by BennyTenStack, Thu Oct-30-14 10:44 AM
In my opinion, he's one of the best SEC backs in the past 10 years.
