-Friday, Oct 17 (Noon EST) thru Sunday, Oct 19 (6pm EST): 8 hour time limit to pick. Set contingencies because the clock will even run overnight.

-Sunday, Oct 19 (6pm EST) thru Monday, Oct 20, (Noon EST) clock off but picks can still be made.

-Monday, Oct 20, Noon-1pm EST, LIVE Draft* (see below on time limit).
1pm-5pm EST, Slow draft, 12 min time limit.

-Draft continues untimed from 5pm EST through noon EST on Tuesday, Oct 21st.

-(If necessary)Tuesday, Oct 21, Noon-1pm EST, LIVE Draft* (see below on time limit).
1pm-5pm EST, Slow draft, 15 min time limit.

*Live draft time limit will be determined by how much we finish over the weekend. If we finish between 2.5 to 3 rounds, the Live draft pick time limit will be 5 mins. If we finish less than 2.5 rounds, the Live draft pick time limit will be 3 mins.

FEE:
Fee of $60 will be due Thursday, October 23rd. Late payment results in loss of IR benefit for the entire season.

There's an additional $160 added to the pot this year so the below would be the payouts:
-Division Winners: $60 ($50 prior)
-Runner Up: $240 ($200 prior)
-Champion: $480 ($400 prior)

However, I've proposed a few participation ideas that would decrease the pot by $30. If we agree on one of those, I'll dock $20 from the winner and $10 from the runner up pot ($460 & $230).

-This season everyone will contribute to the rankings video. We'll be inboxing/announcing in the season posts in regard to who's up next. This will require 2 things: audio (most phones have a voice recorder) and email to send the audio.

-As this is the 10th season we've been at this, I'm thinking for those of us that are unfamiliar with each other IRL, we could all submit one pic for usage in the rankings videos (I did this for a few of us last season...Basa, Shawn, Ceej...felt like it brought some humanity to you inhumane bastids lol).

-There have been some ideas thrown around regarding creative ways to maintain participation (Pot for best 3 year avg) and I have a few suggestions:

1)The Loser reward - The best non-playoff team would receive half of their entry fee back ($30). This would reward those at the bottom of the standings for continuing to fight through adversity.

OR

2)The best trash talker prize - The GM voted best trash talker gets half their entry fee back ($30). This would encourage participation even if your team sucks because it's based on wit moreso than standings.

I won't say which, but I think we all know which.

If "fairness" is the aim, then determine the records (or the win %) for the owners over the last 3 years and distribute the owners evenly, which would be pretty damn easy to do.

Otherwise, just randomize.

Multiples in a few and runner ups in the other 2 that don't have multiple champs.

Seems somewhat even. I'm not opposed to doing the 'math' based divisions but saying, I don't think C's suggestion is slanted.

I don't think it's obscenely slanted. But one of those former champs... if I had his division, I'd be dancing.

I think if fairness is the aim, like I said, there's a way to ensure that the teams are organized as they have trended over the last three seasons.

We'll see how it plays out. I'm cool with the 3 yr avg deal.

1: Yeah, this one is becoming organic. Just weigh in on which you think works best. When the smoke clears we'll ride with majority. Seems like everyone likes Frank's ideas so we might be rolling with that one.

2: We'll only consider Shawn's option if people want a change. If most people choose no change then no point in discussing $20. We might discuss a different split for the payout though.

I felt my idea was 'random' and still had transparency.

And it can be transparent as you can all see it happen. I can do like I do with the draft and announce the time/ask for witnesses.

I'm actually leaning more towards Frank's idea but with a few tweaks (I'd keep last years division winners in the same divisions and assign everyone else by 3yr avg...would keep a lil continuity).

alphabetical actually looks surprisingly even (and psh, labeat has been good and TBO will keep getting better) right now...most randomized groupings will be worse.

In most my other leagues people don't really think twice about divisions. You get what you get and you don't get upset.

Of course this only works if you switch every year whih you seem to be against.

I draft based on the league.

i can pay attention to the 4 teams in my division on a daily basis. i can know without scrolling through sports.ws that if dwight howard dropped 90 fp on someone and it wasn't on me, labeat is probably making ab sweat. that's fun for me.

i can't keep track of 16. if we did away with divisions, i'd just be minding my own game to game and maybe just watching the top spots instead of the lovable losers and grinders in the league.

i understand other people gain enjoyment from survivor from different sources, but that's how i feel. throw whoever in my division and i'll try to win it....i just don't want to be in a division full of losers who make it too easy.

2 suggestions via blowhards- in that league best week writes updates. We don't have weeks in the same way as football but highest avg over x time period can do the write up.

Also easiest way I think to see faces and keep everyone involved even via offseason as some of us don't post on okp as much is to create a survivor facebook group for everyone who has facebook. We should definitely do it and I'll do it on my own even if you may it AB.

I could go for this. Everything else you typed is just tedious. Being a bit of a traditionalist, I like the structure and until the NBA deems divisions & conferences unnecessary, I'm probably gonna ride with that. And personally, I don't like changing the divisions every year. Maybe every 2-3 seasons if there's some imbalance.

I like the draft to be swift which is why I've been very open to the Live Draft.

Like Basa said, we might as well start the draft right after the Draft and FA frenzy...in say August with a 72hr time limit. The only reason these guys want to start early is because of impatience.

SOME might have schedule conflicts but they've known the projected start for almost a month now. We pushed it up early last year because VERY early in the announcement of the draft start, multiple guys negotiated a different start. Very few expressed the same sentiment this year.

Friday is 3 days away. No biggie.

No, I'm acting like a grown man that doesn't wanna spend the better part of 3 days nurturing a draft because half the league is in meetings and didn't set contingencies. It's been 7 yrs under my helm, I know how it goes. Getting 16 people all on one accord for a 12 round draft was impossible last year. What makes you think it is all of a sudden? We started Friday and finished Sunday last year. I'm hoping for similar results.

Next year I'm tempted to not do any post on the league and just set up the league, do the draft order and start the draft all on the same Friday.

Long stroke = being patient to see how things pan out vs wanting to get it over with. I would be VERY upset if I drafted Kevin Durant without preseason being halfway over and he'd be down 2+ months. Regardless of this asinine argument people throw out there EVERY year to justify their impatience because "the draft is the most fun part of the league", preseason MATTERS just like FAgency MATTERS. Some guys are in new situations or are recovering from injuries from the prior year or get injured. As commish, I believe we should all be able to START the season with a healthy roster or as close to a healthy roster as possible. Once the official games start, luck of the draw goes into effect.

If people stopped focusing on the draft being the most fun and actually worked to make the entire SEASON fun, this whole stupid stigma would chill.

That was the reschedule date genius. Last year Rob and Mat had severe scheduling issues and then you chimed in. A few other guys said they wouldn't mind so we moved the date up. Find the year prior, it was later for the exact same reasons I'm saying now.

EVERY season you bring up the same points with no traction: No IRing drafted players, Move up the draft date, No volleyballing for sucky teams (at least early in the season).

You don't have ton of support for these things otherwise they would have changed permanently already. Again, the only reason last year's draft was moved up was a few extreme scheduling conflicts and league support of it. No volleyballing would be cool but we can't manage it fairly and effectively.

And yes, to complain about the same things over and over knowing they won't change = bitching.

It is what it is. I play the whole season but the way the league is there are advantages and disadvantages. You dont have a true weekly matchup liek other fantasy leagues, and you play guys over a long course of time. That allows people to just set lineups and cruise. Not your fault just the way it is.

The draft is the most fun because its a time when all of us are active and talking shit and making predictions.

At some point people get injured its sports. KD couldve get injured the day after we draft this year starting this Friday.

You have injuries we know about before and it makes it interesting to see when the injured guys will get hurt. Then you have your post draft injuries that make or break you.

Again. the way our league works guys dont really have much of an opinion. People never want to change anything until the last minute. How many big changes have we passed in this league? Its a big league, lots of our guys arent as active posters anymore -- we havent really passed any major changes in years.

Again ill keep trying Maybe it is a bit insane to think this group of guys will care until season starts (ive been guilty of this in the past)-- but I made a conscious effort this year to try to be more involved in voting and put my suggestions in earlier during the preseason- rather than later so maybe it would get some traction. Guess not.

Actually, I'd prefer a 2 day draft the weekend before the season starts, after the ENTIRE preseason. That's what I really want to be honest but again, impatience (usually by roughly 4-5 guys every year) makes me consider an earlier date (usually one week early).

Again, as Commish, I'd like us to all start with as close to a healthy roster as possible. Injury happens DURING the season, it is what it is. No one should be forced to deal with a disadvantage because we couldn't control ourselves. A rational league wouldn't even want to draft until preseason was over.

Yup. But we don't have to draft him top 10 if he's down 2 months (which would definitely happen if he was drafted early in preseason). Having that knowledge AFTER preseason finishes and BEFORE the season starts would make so much sense (and a big difference for WHEN he was drafted). 2 Months is like half our season. I'm sure ALL of us would rather not have to lose our 1st rounder for half the season BEFORE THEY PLAY ONE GAME FOR US.

The only injuries that should matter are in season injuries. No one should be penalized BY the draft FOR the draft. It's always been stupid to me how you want to draft earlier.

Major changes we've made since I've been Commish (voted on in the offseason and passed by majority vote):

-Division realignment
-Brand Rule (regarding the pick up of long injured players and eventually led to...)
-IR
-2 fee increases
-Live draft in addition to the snail draft
-Scoring changes (misses being worth -0.3, Makes gaining an extra 0.3)

Change happens and most of us are usually involved.

If I'm weighing that response vs everyone having as close to a healthy roster as possible to start the yr, I'm rolling with healthier roster.

Rondo, Beal and now KD are all major players that have gone down. Some secondary guys are hurt now too (Felton, Swaggy P, KCP, Kemba). Letting most of that play out before we commit roster spots is much better than YAY FUN TIME DRAFT EARLY to me.

you don't see me screaming for an early start. it's the same stuff every year. my players gon get hurt and i'mma be too disengaged to work the wire and accept my fate, same as ever, so don't mind me.

most other sites allow you to pre-rank and draft your whole team that way, but you can't on ws.

we're at the point where half of the league has a ring. It was cool to pop off when only a fraction of the league has won but now alot of ya'll got rings, so if you ain't got one...its kinda like you just wanna fall back and let the chips fall.

If we need new blood, I'm with that. I have no problem cutting the two worst players and 2 least active participants in the posts. 4 new bloods would probably spice things up. A relegation league might do so also.
