2331279, Game 3: Thunder vs Spurs (Ibaka Back)
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun May-25-14 07:15 PM
Reggie Jackson in, Thabo out.
2331281, reggie/ibaka (healthy) is a lot more dangerous than thabo/collison
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 07:34 PM
if ibaka is even just hitting jumpers and sitting in the paint that's gonna be a big difference considering they're at home too.
2331282, damn ibaka already making it happen.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun May-25-14 07:38 PM
2331283, The calf got Ibaka making moves he's never done before in life
Posted by LA2Philly, Sun May-25-14 07:46 PM
That composed floater after the dribble and 2 step?
2331285, for all the overreaction, if lamb can level up and actually get PT
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 07:53 PM
this team still is a threat to become a dynasty.

i'm really interested in seeing lamb/pjIII/adams in summer league.
2331288, someone throw some glue on fish's head.
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 07:55 PM
2331290, goddamn refs fucking hate russ. he can't even breathe.
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 07:57 PM
2331291, he doesn't do himself any favors.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun May-25-14 07:58 PM
2331293, you'd be pissy too if you literally got a tech every other game
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:01 PM
for absolutely nothing.
2331292, my goodness...what a chicken shit technical on Russ
Posted by Dstl1, Sun May-25-14 07:58 PM
.
2331295, Dumb ass Brooks finally playing Lamb.......I'm mad
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:07 PM
2331297, his dumbass is only playing him cause fisher got poked
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:14 PM
you'd think he'd realize that the future should be lamb starting and reggie as 6th man instead of entertaining this "let's just destroy everything good about russy even though it's my fault we don't have an offense" movement.
2331298, Ibaka is wildin
Posted by Dstl1, Sun May-25-14 08:14 PM
.
2331299, tony and manu need to get this shit under control.
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:19 PM
2331300, Top5 is out there wetting the bed
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:20 PM
2331301, he just missed a 4 foot jumper with no one near him
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:22 PM
2331303, Seems like he's having flashbacks of Gm 3 circa 2012
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:26 PM
Pop would be best served running PnR w/ Tiago & Manu.....at least it would force Lamb (their worst defender) & Ibaka (limited mobility) to defend.
2331302, So different when Tony isn't getting a police escort to the rim
Posted by Dstl1, Sun May-25-14 08:25 PM
.
2331304, what does that even mean?
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:27 PM
2331308, It was just a play on the fact that he got to the basket at will...
Posted by Dstl1, Sun May-25-14 08:32 PM
in games 1 and 2. Now he isn't.
2331311, some of those were just tony being a badass
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:34 PM
like when he went around adams.

2331313, All they're doing is trapping but he isn't making the correct read
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:37 PM
When Tony usually gets trapped it leads to a 3 point barrage by the Spurs shooters but if he keeps turning it over then the ball won't find the shooter's hand. There is really nothing complicated about what OKC is doing...it's up to Tony to make the correct read.
2331305, He's actually OFF day.....it's just not the defense
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:27 PM
2331306, duncan not so hot either.
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 08:29 PM
2331307, wTf is Top5 doing?...Passed it to old ass Tim instead of Kawhi
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:29 PM
Jebuzz...Only Russy is keeping them in the game.
2331309, lol at those last two ugly 3s going straight in.

2331314, Manu & Russy: The 2 wild cards wilin' out
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:41 PM
2331315, When Manu goes off......the Spurs usually lose
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:51 PM
Hopefully, Tony settles down in the 2nd half & starts running the offense. The rest of the cats are just missing shots & will get better opportunity as the ball movement improves.
2331316, You reach, I teach
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 08:58 PM
2331317, If Pop going to run an ACTUAL PnR instead of running Top5 off picks
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:03 PM
Tony is simply holding the ball coming off picks & acting clueless about what to do. He has to make the quick pass & catch their gambling defense.
2331319, Danny Green w/ the soft ass layup *SMH*
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:07 PM
2331320, The shooters just don't have it tonight
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:15 PM
2331321, Diaw can't block out Fisher *SMH*
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:19 PM

Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:27 PM
I can't believe this is only a 7 point game....
2331327, 22-0 FT difference in the 3rd quarter. please be less obvious refs.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun May-25-14 09:30 PM
2331328, not on refs....we're not getting boards, missing shots, losing balls
Posted by rob, Sun May-25-14 09:33 PM
plus like 6 of the shots were intentional fouls for adams
2331331, OKC is playing HARDER than the Spurs..simple as that.
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:37 PM
Spurs are out there playing dumb & slow
2331340, Only inexplicable call was the offensive foul called on Mills
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sun May-25-14 09:43 PM
I watched that replay several times over and for the life of me could not figure out how Patty Mills fouled on his 3 point shot. And if he did foul, it sure as shit shouldn't have erased the 3 point shot. Very strange call.

Other than that, meh. Spurs getting their shit handed to them. Thunder were due for a good night. Likewise the Spurs were due for a shit-showing.
2331345, I was assuming it was a make-up call but then OKC has 30+ FTAs
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:55 PM
2331329, damn caron is biting shumpert and timmy jr
Posted by ISmashedYourBitch, Sun May-25-14 09:34 PM

2331339, Damn I didn't think Ibaka was that crucial
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Sun May-25-14 09:43 PM
He helpin'
2331341, There is a reason why OKC dominated the Spurs in the Reg season
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:49 PM
Tonight was the perfect combo of the Spurs playing their absolute worst game since Gm 2 vs. the Mavs on BOTH ends of the floor & Ibaka playing much better than expected. Plus they are down 0-2 & playing at home...thus everyone knew OKC was going to be making all the hustle plays.
2331344, Can't wait for the excessive overexaggeration of Ibaka's
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sun May-25-14 09:52 PM
impact on the Thunder's performance tonight.

Yes, of course he helps. But, when Ginobli is the only Spur to show up, you know there is no hope for a good game.

Tony had a horrible game and lot of that was HIS own doing. Lazy passes. Missed open shots, etc. Duncan was rusty. Patty Mills couldn't hit open shots. Diaw missed a lot of open shots he typically makes. Kawhi, for some odd reason, played timid on the offensive side of the ball. Literally no one but Ginobli (and he even had some really dumb passes) showed up for the Spurs tonight.
2331342, Russy is going to Russy
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:50 PM
2331343, e'rythang you need to know about Russy in one possession...

Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 09:58 PM
2331347, Ugly, ugly game, but whatever. Still up 2-1.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sun May-25-14 09:59 PM
Can't expect to win when your point guards play as awful as Parker/Mills did tonight. They were dreadful. Some of that is a credit to OKC's defense, but that's primarily a byproduct of Parker/Mills' own incompetence tonight. Duncan/SPlitter/Diaw were ineffective in the post. Diaw missed some 3s he usually makes. Kawhi was too timid on offense and got a bit too lax on guarding Durant.

This team goes as Parker goes. Not that he needs to play lights out for a victory, but he can't come out and shit the bed like he did tonight.
2331348, The worst part of the game were the TOs, lazy fouls & lack of hustle
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 10:10 PM
I'm really not worried about the missed shots...they missed shots they usually make.

But the dumb turnover in the 1st half & lack of hustle in the 2nd half were unacceptable. They were also reaching as opposed to moving their feet on defense which is what led to the early bonus & thus the parade to the FT line.

Tony needs to make quick decision w/ the pass or take a mid-range shot if he can't get into the paint. He was stalling out the defense by coming off pick & not being in attack mode. Other than that they just need to match OKC's energy & fight for loose balls.
2331351, OKC's starting lineup should be
Posted by J_Stew, Sun May-25-14 10:27 PM
Durant
Westbrook
Jackson
Ibaka
Adams

With Lamb getting more tick than he does.

2331352, There is no way Brooks is benching Perk
Posted by FILF, Sun May-25-14 10:45 PM
2331354, it should be westbrook, lamb, durant, ibaka, perkins
Posted by rob, Mon May-26-14 12:11 AM
with jackson coming in as manu and getting more minutes than lamb and adams seeing more minutes than perkins in anticipation of starting in a season or two.

jackson or caron starting instead of lamb i understand for this year, but long term you're undermining both westbrook and lamb by starting jackson. reggie's come to an nba with manu, crawford, gibson, harden as dudes in that role. he'll be fine with it.
2331389, Ibaka Factor......or:
Posted by FILF, Mon May-26-14 02:13 PM
Much will be made of Ibaka’s presence in this game, and rightfully so. He does make a big difference, even if it’s only mental. But the Spurs were just bad. They actually shot a better percentage from the floor when he was on the court (40.7) than they did when he was off (37.5). Diving a little deeper, San Antonio shot 40 percent from the arc when he was playing as opposed to 33.3 percent when he wasn’t. On top of it all, shooting percentage within the restricted area was identical, regardless of whether he was on the floor or not.
2331390, 3rd quarter set a record for the largest FT discrepancy in NBA history
Posted by FILF, Mon May-26-14 02:18 PM
OKC: 22 FTA
SAS: 0 FTA
2331475, RE: Rebounds
Posted by FILF, Tue May-27-14 12:50 AM
The Thunder won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Spurs, 52-36, in their 106-97 victory in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. That was the largest margin by which San Antonio was outrebounded in a playoff game since the 2008 conference semis against New Orleans. The Spurs have played 231 postseason games under Gregg Popovich. Their opponent had an edge of more than 15 rebounds in only four of them, and the Spurs lost all four of those games.
2331412, It's why I said above 'let the overreaction begin..' Ibaka
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Mon May-26-14 07:25 PM
surely helps bolster the Thunder's lineup, but let's not pretend like the Thunder weren't playing horrible defense WITH HIM in the lineup in the previous series. The Spurs were just flat-out awful last night in all facets of the game. Tony set the tone early by dribbling the air out of the ball and making one careless pass after the next. It was as if they were just going through the motions (well, except Ginobli).

There's no excuse for Kawhi and Splitter not being more involved with the offense. There's no reason why Ginobli should have sat and waited so long to get put back in the game in the 3rd quarter. Also, key role players like Diaw were missing everything. It was just a miserable night and hopefully just an aberration - but the Spurs had about 2-3 games like this vs. Dallas.

Let's hope they right the course and get back to playing Spurs basketball.
