Lost a game 7 to Utah after being up 2-0 the next year
Then finally getting passed PDX and meeting the Lakers, taking them to game 7 despite Yao's injury but getting demolished in that Game 7.

that really isn't an issue. if an offensive player works to gain good
post position, then he doesn't have to go through the defender.
he can just make his move and shoot. too many bigs try to pound
the ball so they can get right under the basket and end up getting
their sh*t beat or called for an offensive foul

Shaq relied on beating up defenders. Dwight just needs to get position
and make a decisive move. if that's gone. go to the counter-move or pass

Portland bench goes 1 deep, then maybe T-Rob (who had his game tonight! I meant to link to my game 1 post!), then maybe, uhhhh, Dorrel Wright? It's not even close.

So yeah, the coach is the problem, because the coach wasn't able to make the starting five count for more. Portland's starting five won the series. Houston's coach needed to adapt for the fact he had the better team, but he never did.

The loss will probably force them to hire a coach with actual plays, Harden can be taken to task for his defense. Dwight is Dwight. Not sure this will phase him at all.

Also, Lin and Asik showed signs of life which should make them easy to trade or give away so they can open up cap space for someone like Chris Bosh or 'Melo.

But this was a team that probably needed a wake up call more than a second round appearance.

Parsons was standing behind Lillard even before the play started.....he basically gave Lillard a free path towards the ball. When the ref blew the whistle Lillard immediate took off & caught Parson off guard. Harden was flat footed & was face guarding Wes so there was no way he would have been able to switch onto Lillard who was on a full sprint. It is obvious McHale was trying to prevent LMA from catching the ball which is why T-Jones was solely blocking Batum's view towards LMA's direction. If that's the case Parsons had no business trailing Lillard when all he has to do is run towards the ball unmolested & Batum will see him in plain sight. He should have been b/w the ball & his man...if Lillard cuts towards the baskets Dwight is waiting plus Batum will have to make a tough pass over T-Jones.

Lillard is an assassin. Wow.

He was absolutely dominating a very good defender in Robin Lopez while doing his usual routine defensively and on the boards. I've never seen him that patient and comfortable in isolations, he def showed a lot of improvement. Respect to that.

So you called 2 timeouts and your players werent sure if they should switch or not?

The guy guarding the inbounds passer would step over the line and it would be called a delay of game...this would allow the defense to see what set the offense was running (this sequence became a tactical battle into of itself because you had coaches either giving a decoy play first and then then the real play or calling another timeout). I always wondered why we don't see it anymore, and it really would have helped Houston today. Was it legislated out of the NBA?

Maybe it's an automatic tech just like illegal defense.

T-Jones was denying a pass towards LMA......there is literally no reason to guard against the STRONG side corner on that play since all the shooter were on the weak-side basically clearing out the strong side for LMA. Maybe McHale saw the Vince 3 & decided to guard against the corner but in that case Vince was on the strong side to start w/ & was only 2 steps away from the corner. Typical McHale.

mchale's biggest failing was not being able to impress upon harden to try at all on defense. they win this series if harden tries on defense for more than the 4Q of Game 6. his incredible apathy puts strain on a defense that no scheme can fix.

you can deal with guys who aren't gifted defenders but try. melo is a bad individual defender but a decent team defender because he tries hard. you cannot do anything at all with a guy who refuses to try.

I can't remember seeing a more lazy defender, who is supposed to be on an elite level. Not to mention he shot 37% overall for the series, so the one thing he's supposed to do well, he was inefficient at.

Dwight did his job and got the Rockets 26pts, 13rebs and 2.8blks and even shot 62% from the ft line. Can't tell him shit.

Dwight was maybe the best player in this series. I don't know how you pick between him, Aldridge, or Lillard. Dwight rebounded and played D like a mug.

Harden shot like shit and continued to play the worst D in the league.
