If they broke up because of an abortion that she hid from him, that's his business as well assuming it was his child. He can say that's why we broke up as much as he wants, he didn't break any law

It's TACTLESS, but not ILLEGAL

Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-01-14 10:38 AM

you are extra emotional about this obviously
because of your stance on abortion. Relax.

Last time I'm pointing this out to you:

It's (legally) ok to speak out against an abortion
that his girl had - and to express disagreement w/
the decision -- it is *not* ok to post her privileged
medical records on facebook so that the world can
see the medical records/photos of her uterus/abortion. It's really
quite simple. Stop being church emo.

that said, he's a piece of shit for this for sure

Actually Case, he's right....

Floyd can be sued for this...Making a statement about it on Facebook is not against the law...

However, posting someone's medical history/ailment/paperwork without their consent will get u in some serious trouble....

To say that people are gonna go from not knowing that Floyd was fighting, to actually buying the ppv for 70. Let's be honest, that isn't happening.
2322181, Not that far of a reach actually, that people are now aware that he's
Posted by bentagain, Thu May-01-14 12:56 PM
fighting this weekend

at the Pac fight, obviously amongst a group of fight fans

this fight came up

and for the life of us, we couldn't think of who he was fighting

Khan, no I know that wasn't confirmed

Maravilla, no I know that was just proposed

oh, I got it, the guy that knocked out Ortiz and just beat Broner

what's his name...Maidana!

so yeah, now more sports fans are aware that he's fighting on saturday

doesn't mean they're gonna buy
2322182, You are right, but here was my point:

PPV buys?

Hello sir, you recently purchased the Mayweather/Maidana PPV, could you tell us the reason...

Yeah, I wanted to see Floyd's ProLife ass get beat to a pulp?

c'mon, you know this is free publicity as has already been stated

continue on being intentionally obtuse.
2322271, If people are just learning about the fight, they are not buying the fight.
Posted by realityrap, Thu May-01-14 06:51 PM
That is obviously not the demographic of people who buy ppv fights.

"Oh...OH! There's a fight Saturday?! lemme drop 70 on that"

nah. That's obvious.
2322184, I didn't say exactly that people didn't know he was fighting would now
Posted by Cenario, Thu May-01-14 01:04 PM
buy....even though that could very well happen.

All i'm specifically saying is that more buzz equals more buys. If this creates buzz, it will create more buys, whether the buyer loves or hates pac.

Same reason why musicians, actors etc will gladly take negative press when they have an album, movie etc coming out. Its free advertising.

2322113, "Publication of Private Facts" - well known legal doctrine
Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-01-14 10:41 AM
"The legal claim known as "publication of private facts" is a species of invasion of privacy. You commit this kind of invasion of privacy by publishing private facts about an individual, the publication of which would be offensive to a reasonable person. This legal claim can only be successful, however, if the facts in question are not legitimately newsworthy. So, for instance, if you disclose the fact that your neighbor has an embarrassing health condition, you might be liable for publication of private facts. If, however, this medical condition is particularly relevant to some topic of public interest -- say, your neighbor's fitness to serve in public office, a court might find that your publication is lawful. Determining what facts are of legitimate public concern is often difficult to determine, so you may want to get permission before disclosing potentially embarrassing information about an individual you interview or write about. If your work sometimes involves this kind of publication, then you should see the Publication of Private Facts section for further details."

Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress?
Leaking privileged medical info to millions of people

Invading the most private place one can imagine (the uterus

I think his controversies have probably improved his bottom line in pretty much every instance.

There's no commissioner who will fine or suspend him for extracurricular shit like this.
He already doesn't have (or rely on) ad revenues to be the richest athlete in the world.
His revenues are directly tied to PPV sales, and it seems like the notoriety = sales formula has yet to fail him.

So as long as decency just isn't that important to him, what are his disincentives? Maybe there's an argument related to long-term profitability, but I'm not sure it's a strong one.
2322115, yup, he already gets buys on the sole reason that people

relationships with women doesn't seem to be one of them

2322217, I'd be shocked if this was anything more than pure publicity stunt
Posted by Lightfoot, Thu May-01-14 03:12 PM
I'm no more in Floyd's head than the next man, but is there more than one good explanation for why he did what he did *this week*? He's not a dummy. Look at what he did with one Facebook post:

Boxing fans are asking if this might make his fight more intriguing

Media members and the general public are talking about him way more.

How often does OKP cumulatively dedicate like 250 posts to a boxer?

Today his name is in the mouths of millions of people who would otherwise not be talking about him, and many of them have now thought about his upcoming fight as a byproduct of all the sensational stuff.

No way that's incidental. I think it's reasonable to assume that any arguments regarding Floyd's morality, legality, shamelessness, indecency, and/or emotional well-being--however well-conceived--should be understood to be a dance for a puppet master.

Not to say that dancing can't be fun.
2322227, I think that's the very favorable way to look at it for Floyd
Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-01-14 03:40 PM
I think equally (if not more) plausible is
that this is Floyd spiraling a bit out of
control w/ his emotions and using that to
try to magnify the attention surrounding
him for this fight, something which he
has become accustomed to and craves.

But to me this degree of wild-out is
indicative of some legitimate inter-personal
issues that are left unresolved in his personal life.

2322243, Would it matter if the fetuses posted weren't Floyd's??!?!?
Posted by BLACK_ADAM, Thu May-01-14 04:29 PM
Legal eagles???!

Seriously...

What if he was under the impression she was pregnant for him...but he knows that she isn't

...and she is trying to maintain the lie???

Does that mean anything? Is it still actionable?

Like say for instance she tried to leverage son in an argument or something and threw that paperwork in his face or he found it while catching her in a lie about it knowing that those kids aren't his???

I'm really interested to know if there is some way other than her refusing to press charges that he has a defense against this...

That shit is crazy!!!!

"Inspectah Deck, he's like...he's like that dude thatta sit back and watch you play yourself and all that right? And see you sit there and know you lyin; and he'll take you to court after that, cuz he the Inspectah."
2322250, Really the one defense he could have is that she consented
Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-01-14 04:39 PM
to the publication of the private facts
of her abortion. Another defense would
be that the disclosure of her abortion
was newsworthy and there was a significant
public interest/utility in knowing it -
which of course there isn't.

She could certainly press charges and he'd
likely have to settle for a considerable amount
as it's really an egregious & illegal act
of callous.

The speculation about whether the baby/twins
were his is immaterial because there is no
way to know for certain whether he actually
was the father.

2322260, Would it be newsworthy if the children weren't his...
Posted by BLACK_ADAM, Thu May-01-14 05:15 PM
...and she "disclosed" the abortion to somehow leverage him?

I mean it's terrible all around.....

No one emerges from that smelling sweet...

I could only imagine what a judge hearing this would be like....

>...and she "disclosed" the abortion to somehow leverage him?

Since there's no way to determine the DNA of the underdeveloped
fetus(es) - no. And "newsworthy" as a legal term refers to
something that the public has a legitimate interest to know -
such as whether a govt. official is lying or committing fraud/criminal acts -- newsworthy (as a legal term of art)
does not mean something that simply lights up the social
media sphere.

Wouldn't be good for Floyd. The key here is the sensitive
nature of the private medical records and the invasion
of her privacy. Even if she gave Floyd the medical
records - he still has no right to publicize those
records because they are still privileged - and she
only consented to him seeing them, not the world at large.
