2318826, Paul George goes scoreless in a half. Pacers/Hawks Gm.3

I'm not watching but needed to make this game post based on Top 10 Paul's inability to make a basket in 24 minutes of play.
2318827, Im absolutely shocked by how big a pussy Hibbert is

I was thinking this everytime they showed his sulking face in the second half... there's a difference between being soft and overly emotional and just being a complete big giant pussy

@rob_starrk
2319133, he looks like
Posted by bnicedh, Fri Apr-25-14 11:22 AM
He was in Space Jam and the MonStars came and took his talent!!
2318828, LOL
Posted by RexLongfellow, Thu Apr-24-14 07:44 PM
And he's better than Melo...LOL
He better come out firing this half and get them a win
2318830, even if Indy ends up winning this series it's a baddddddd look
Posted by southphillyman, Thu Apr-24-14 07:48 PM
this many competitive (or losing) quarters against a sub .500 8th seed that's missing it's best player
starting 2 DLeaguers
with Kyle Korver manning your best player?
:/
2318833, This shit is SAD
Posted by cantball, Thu Apr-24-14 07:50 PM
I'd almost feel bad for Indiana, but they traded FOR Duck Sauce

2318836, 2008 Celtics: 23-4 in their last 27 games.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Apr-24-14 08:04 PM
2014 Pacers: 14-13 in their last 27 games.

It matters.
2318840, Also I think that was the 1st playoff run for that version of the Cs

2318847, I'm aware but I listed that in the context of the post-season only

Basically it was a response to this statement by SPM: "this many competitive (or losing) quarters against a sub .500 8th seed"
2318914, You convieniently left off a pretty important part.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Apr-24-14 10:09 PM
2319093, Celtics never trailed in that series and blew them out in games
Posted by Cenario, Fri Apr-25-14 09:40 AM
1 & 2.
2318837, Man that Hibbert post will never die.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Apr-24-14 08:09 PM
Through 3 games, he's 6 pts, 4.6 rebs, 0 blocks, and 28% shooting. HES 7 FOOT 2.
2318839, he had a jump and hook shot for about three months last year
Posted by RandomFact, Thu Apr-24-14 08:16 PM
not sure what happened
2319272, I've never seen a player so thoroughly check out mentally as hibbert.

2318843, Hibbert and Hill fuckin suck.... lol

2318849, Vogel should just bench Hill/Hibbert & roll w/ CJ/Scola
Posted by FILF, Thu Apr-24-14 08:36 PM
Play Hibbert only when Brand is in the game. Also, let Hill play off the ball (he's a shooting guard) & Duck Sauce on the ball (he's mediocre off the ball).
2318856, At least give CJ/Scola more minutes..

2318850, this playoff year is so strange
Posted by celery77, Thu Apr-24-14 08:36 PM
Indy, Spurs, and OKC have all looked more vulnerable than you would ever expect.
2318853, RE: this playoff year is so strange
Posted by FILF, Thu Apr-24-14 08:42 PM
-Indy has chemistry issues
-Spurs/OKC have had multiple starting line-ups throughout the season b/c of injuries (esp. Russy/Top5) which is why their offense isn't as sharp as say last season.
(I think both OKC/Spurs had the same starting line-up for the whole 82 games last season)

EDIT: Pop run away w/ the COY b/c the Spurs finished w/ the best overall record despite the ever changing starting line-up.
2318855, I can't recall a collapse like this.
Posted by SoulHonky, Thu Apr-24-14 08:43 PM
I feel like the Spurs had one bad game and the Thunder got stuck with a tough matchup since the Grizz would have been a top 4 seed if Gasol hadn't been hurt. They also matchup well with the Thunder.

But Indy's collapse is just amazing. Yes, ATL is a decent matchup despite their shit record but I've never seen a team go from threats to upend the two time champs to "Let's hope this shitshow ends ASAP"
2318859, Sheed's Blazers are the closest thing to it

96-97 Sign Sheed --> Bounced in 1st rd by LAL
97-98 Sign Mighty Mouse/Brian Grant & hire Mike Dunleavy --> Bounced in 1st rd by LAL
98-99 Sign Pippen --> Swept in the WCF by the eventual champs
99-00 Sign Smitty/Bonzi emerges --> Finish w/ the 2nd best overall record-->Reach the WCF again & lose in 7 game to the eventual champs

2000–2003

The Trail Blazers made a series of personnel moves in the 2000 and 2001 off-seasons that failed to produce the desired results. Forward Jermaine O'Neal was traded to the Indiana Pacers for Dale Davis. Brian Grant signed with the Miami Heat, and was replaced with ex-Seattle forward Shawn Kemp. The team started off well, posting the Western Conference's best record through March 2001, and then signed guard Rod Strickland to augment their point guard corps. The move backfired, and the team lost 17 of its remaining 25 games, and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs (swept by the Los Angeles Lakers). Some in the media began to criticize the team, and Whitsitt, previously proclaimed a genius for his work in both Seattle and Portland, was criticized. A particular criticism was that Whitsitt was attempting to win a title by assembling a roster of stars, without paying attention to team chemistry.

2318946, And ATL doesn't even have their best player
Posted by BlassFemur, Thu Apr-24-14 11:28 PM
but I can't remember a collapse like this either. It's weird.
2318924, that's clearly on Walsh and bird.
Posted by Cenario, Thu Apr-24-14 10:27 PM
2318944, this team was hungry...now they not. n/m
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Thu Apr-24-14 11:25 PM
2318948, what did they load up on to make them lose their appetite, duck sauce?
Posted by Bombastic, Thu Apr-24-14 11:34 PM
2318953, obviously they should have kept Granger....
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Fri Apr-25-14 12:02 AM
but that trade isn't the reason they are in their current state..

They don't have the fire...aren't playing well as a team... some key guys aren't well who played very well during last year's playoff run..

last year they played with the same fire that the Blazers and the Wizards...and the Hawks are playing with this playoffs....

not saying they need to bench hibbard...but they are fortunate to have another option...

2318976, RE: obviously they should have kept Granger....
Posted by Bombastic, Fri Apr-25-14 12:40 AM
sidenote: Miami fucked up not grabbing Granger the moment the Sixers released him.

He's a vet whose been in playoff wars, knows Indy trade secrets, has an All-Star pedigree but showed willingness to fill a supporting role while not pouting, Battier is done/Ray is on fumes/Jones stinks so he instantly becomes amazingly perhaps the Heat's fourth-best player and easily best swingman option not named Bron or Wade, he can give Lebron a breather by spending some time on guys Bron would get stuck guarding (Durant, Leonard, George) and despite losing something due to injuries is still a great catch-and-shoot guy who if given more minutes might be able to prove himself to be more than that.

I mean I guess not at least not fully but it's more than a little coincidental how they were the top seed in the league before those acquisitions and then under .500 since.

Bynum is a cancer who doesn't like basketball and can't stay on the court if he did.

Turner is a surly guy and selfish player who can't be effective without the ball in his hands which he never was gonna have at the level he did on a lottery team in Philly. His view of his stature in the league is almost clinically delusional. He's also a matador on D despite having size and some athleticism. When I saw him on TV screaming on Scola his second day with the team here after he let his man waltz by him at the top of the key into the paint it was obvious he was going to make them worse although not even he can get the credit for all this. And the Pacers had finally been the one to have Lance Stevenson on the right course but knew how fragile the situation was with him going into free agency, bringing in his potential replacement as a stretch run rental for this postseason was a potential powderkeg without the upside to justify it.

Lavoy is a hustle player who doesn't hustle.

Bird made an effort to show how 'all-in' this year on the one-seed and winning a title but apparently didn't have the pulse of the locker room or realize how fragile their collective psyche was, because to these guys who clearly are having a crises of confidence amongst other things, it might have went over as him not believing they had enough.

>last year they played with the same fire that the Blazers and
>the Wizards...and the Hawks are playing with this playoffs....
>
I don't think it's got to do with 'fire', more like they imploded then became self-satisfied and become what Lavoy Allen (who arrived with Turner) is describing to folks back home as a 'completely dysfunctional team who all hate each other' from what he's seen since he got there.

lol, who's the other option you're saying they're fortunate to have?

Ian Mahimi?

2318980, What other option?

Posted by JAESCOTT777, Fri Apr-25-14 05:36 AM
Imagine if ATL gets a couple more players
Jeff Teague is a fucking animal
2319132, NBA finals or bust
Posted by DJR, Fri Apr-25-14 11:21 AM
Max contract, 1 seed, supposed 3rd best player in basketball or something. Time to get it done.
2319273, Guess its been a bust since the season started
Posted by Nick Has a Problem...Seriously, Fri Apr-25-14 04:46 PM
How were they reaching The Finals with Miami in the East?
2319276, They went 7 with them last year, and weren't as good.
Posted by Ryan M, Fri Apr-25-14 04:51 PM
At least, at the beginning of the year they look liked they took the next step.
