I didn't think Trotz was the problem and if they also fail to bring back Mitch Korn then I think the Preds made a mistake. Their problem is not that they play a conservative style, but that they collect every 30-point forward they can find. When they had skill players like Kariya and Sullivan and even Arnott, they weren't duding out like this offensively.

Rutherford is going to step down in Carolina. I don't know if he will stay on as team president, but he won't be the GM anymore. This makes more sense to me because despite that Stanley Cup not being *too* far in his rearview mirror, the Canes have had a lot of trouble getting it going. It's a bummer though, he was there since the Whalers days. Between that and Giggy's likely retirement, their footprint is fading fast.
