I'm not sure if I'm surprised by this at all but it's still such a shame it's happened.
There have been small bits of news to say he's been unhappy for a little while (be it burnout or storywise) but I would have thought he's still considered to be one of the company's top stars. A win against HHH at Mania may not be headlining per se but it's nothing to turn your nose up at.
Such a tough time for WWE right now - I can't think of a time where that title has been more coveted and meant so much: if Bryan's now being considered for HHH at Mania, then there were clearly no plans of him winning it, Punk's not been in the title picture for over a year, Batista's been handed it despite the frustrations of the Punk's, Ziggler's, etc. This is why I was surprised they unified the belts.
