2272057, Boxing Heads...12/7/13... Posted by spidey, Thu Dec-05-13 08:27 PM
...This weekend there are some great fights on both Showtime and HBO respectively, who wins and why?
Darren Barker vs Felix Sturm IBF middleweight title fight--I'm rolling with Sturm, still think he has enough in the tank to take win this fight...should be a good fight all around...
Paulie Malignaggi vs. Zab Judah, 12 rounds, welterweights--total toss up, can't call it...
Devon Alexander vs. Shawn Porter, 12 rounds, for Alexander's IBF welterweight title--I actually think Porter has a shot to win, let's see how it goes down...
Erislandy Lara vs. Austin Trout, 12 rounds, for Lara's WBA interim junior middleweight title--I like Lara, crafty fighter...should be a solid fight...two southpaws...
Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Joseph Agbeko, 12 rounds, for Rigondeaux's WBA/WBO junior featherweight title--would love to see the upset, just don't think Agbeko can pull it off at this stage of the game...
Glen Tapia vs. James Kirkland, 10 rounds, middleweights--Kirkland is tough, but his lack of activity may cost him, should be interesting...Tapia is no joke...

2272172, i hate when they schedule two cards concurrently Posted by AlBundy, Fri Dec-06-13 05:32 AM
Agbeko aint fking with no Rigo.
im taking Zab to beat Paulie. He's looked better as of late. Should be an interesting fight though. Paulie can box.
I got Trout beating Lara, but the inactivity might do him in. He shouldve been fought since he was robbed by "Canela". (c) Floyd Sr
EDIT: and Floyd's cronies aka sparring partners will all take L's again.

2272723, i'll be damned Floyd's team won Posted by AlBundy, Sat Dec-07-13 05:45 AM

2272887, I'm from Yonkers and hell nah. I like Paulie, respect Zab but no. Posted by Radio Rahim, Sat Dec-07-13 06:54 PM
I've watched each fighters last 4-5 bouts and I might watch if the big 10 chip is a blowout before i leave the crib.

2272650, RE: Boxing Heads...12/7/13... Posted by BlassFemur, Sat Dec-07-13 12:12 AM
I got Paulie outboxing Zab, but Judah gotta let those fist fly against Paulie.
Porter should beat Alexander, unless he lets him stink it out.
Lara beats Trout. Too slick.
Rigo beats Agbeko
Kirklands needs a win, so I'll go with him.
Great boxing weekend though, shit. Wish I had DVR for a night.
|
2272652, Agree on all these Posted by Poorspellir, Sat Dec-07-13 12:17 AM
Really excited for that Kirkland fight.
|
2272880, Man I was on the Kirkland bandwagon hard Posted by debo40oz, Sat Dec-07-13 06:40 PM
Then he went to prison then got knocked out by some Japanese dude. Then I kind of lost track of him
|
2273105, hope you bet some of this...you were dead on Posted by veritas, Sun Dec-08-13 01:29 AM
porter with a smooth 5-1 underdog domination, too.
|
2272821, Sakio Bika vs. Anthony Dirrell too. Posted by BlassFemur, Sat Dec-07-13 05:21 PM
|
2272917, Covering the Brooklyn card tonight Posted by Lightfoot, Sat Dec-07-13 07:30 PM
Here's what I wrote about the card: http://www.maxboxing.com/news/promo-lead/boxing-matters-in-brooklyn
Also wrote about Lamar Russ on the HBO card this week: http://www.maxboxing.com/news/other-boxing-news/russ-is-ready
It seems like most of the fights will skew towards chess match and away from slugfest, but I'm interested in most of them...pretty even/appropriate matchmaking across the board IMO. Trout-Lara for example, will probably not be that exciting, but it should be pretty interesting to watch them try to figure each other out.
|
2272927, my picks Posted by Binlahab, Sat Dec-07-13 07:54 PM
>...This weekend there are some great fights on both Showtime >and HBO respectively, who wins and why? > >Darren Barker vs Felix Sturm Sturm > >Paulie Malignaggi vs. Zab Judah Zab
>Devon Alexander vs. Shawn Porter no idea who either of these 2 are > >Erislandy Lara vs. Austin Trout Lara > >Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Joseph Agbeko My upset of the night. King Kong Agbeko. > >Glen Tapia vs. James Kirkland Kirkland knows this is it for him

2272951, bika is on this boy's ass Posted by BlassFemur, Sat Dec-07-13 09:01 PM
|
2272962, Man I figured someone getting ko'd and didn't keep score Posted by debo40oz, Sat Dec-07-13 09:27 PM
I'm gonna say I rather be bike at the end. Darrel took so many dam body punches.
|
2272992, Yeah Darrell got the worst if that. he waant active enough though Posted by BlassFemur, Sat Dec-07-13 10:17 PM
|
2272989, So this was the cat Vex was hyping up.......Big Bro better Posted by FILF, Sat Dec-07-13 10:15 PM
|
2273062, I always thought Anthony was better Posted by Lach, Sun Dec-08-13 12:16 AM
|
2273298, if 'hyping' means saying he's better than his brother, then yes Posted by Vex_id, Sun Dec-08-13 02:43 PM
Andre heart pumps sweet tea.

Breathe through the nose keep the mouth closed. Through the blood Chi goes where the dow flows.
|
2273675, Anthony's speed/boxing skills lags far behind Andre's Posted by FILF, Sun Dec-08-13 09:45 PM
Speed/boxing skills trump power against the elite competition. If you're saying Anthony is more exciting to watch then I'll give you that but I've seen anything spectacular to say that he's better than Andre.
|
2273678, Bika makes a lot of guys look bad too tho Posted by Lach, Sun Dec-08-13 09:59 PM
|
2273764, when they try to BRAWL w/ him yeah Posted by FILF, Mon Dec-09-13 01:00 AM
He basically got shut out by 2 elite boxers in Ward/Calzaghe who killed him w/ counter-punches ....Andre is also a MUCH BETTER boxer than Bute who also beat Bika convincingly.
|
2272984, Trout got chopped tf down Posted by AlBundy, Sat Dec-07-13 10:09 PM
he's done

2273000, this alexander/ porter fight is a mess Posted by BlassFemur, Sat Dec-07-13 10:35 PM
|
2273102, RE: this alexander/ porter fight is a mess Posted by spidey, Sun Dec-08-13 01:21 AM
yeah, I switched over to the other network half way through that one…I had some paper on the underdog too, so it was nice to see Porter do his thing...
|
2273004, This Kirkland fight is every bit as good as I'd hoped Posted by Poorspellir, Sat Dec-07-13 10:56 PM
|
2273012, If Glen Tapia still has a career after this... Posted by daskap, Sat Dec-07-13 11:16 PM
he needs to fire his entire corner, they damn near got him killed, dude couldn't even open his eyes between rounds at the end there.
|
2273101, RE: If Glen Tapia still has a career after this... Posted by spidey, Sun Dec-08-13 01:19 AM
No doubt…
|
2273066, Rigo is the shit Posted by AlBundy, Sun Dec-08-13 12:19 AM

2273104, RE: Boxing Heads...12/7/13... Posted by spidey, Sun Dec-08-13 01:26 AM
Typical no show Zab, brother had so much promise back in the day…Anyway, I picked Paulie cause I knew Zab has that tendency to disappoint. Going back to the days of his fights vs the Spinks kid, where he stunk ish up...
|
2273163, That Kirkland tapia fight was brutal Posted by JAESCOTT777, Sun Dec-08-13 09:39 AM
Tapia's corner might have ruined his career
|
2273794, Tapia connecting early was the worst thing for him Posted by Ceej, Mon Dec-09-13 08:05 AM
He thought he had a shot and didnt move.....sweet gameplan.
and seeing how his corner handled he rest of the fight we know they didnt plan for more than 30 seconds of that death match.
|
2273209, Damn Kirkland does not sound good. Posted by Ceej, Sun Dec-08-13 12:40 PM
Tapia might be done.
Lol Zab lol
Think Dirrell got jobbed
|
2273287, RE: Damn Kirkland does not sound good. Posted by spidey, Sun Dec-08-13 02:22 PM
I get the sense that the Dirrell brothers always look for the easy way out of fights, always falling/weak and verbally complaining…go out there and handle business, and stop crying….it's like they don't REALLY want to be in the ring….that said, I still think the younger Dirrell should have gotten the nod….Kirkland does sound bad, slurring and repeating himself…Poor Zab ain't never had heart, gotta go back to Brownsville and man-up to losing to pillow hands….lol….
|
2273650, didn't realize kirkland only had one loss still Posted by southphillyman, Sun Dec-08-13 09:07 PM
and it was a fluke loss at that maybe they can set up a lara vs. kirkland fight at 154 cause i don't know why anyone would want to fight either one of those dudes willingly
|
2273652, I think that's one guy Kirkland should not fight... Posted by BlassFemur, Sun Dec-08-13 09:12 PM
a guy he can't catch...who can also punch. lol
It would be good though. But yeah, I woulda swore Kirkland had 2 or 3 losses.
|
2273821, On the real Zab looked like he really didn't want to fight him Posted by T Reynolds, Mon Dec-09-13 09:31 AM
like he heart wasn't in it. Paulie looked fast and his jab was workin. But the fight was just disappointingly one sided
|
2273976, RE: On the real Zab looked like he really didn't want to fight him Posted by spidey, Mon Dec-09-13 01:32 PM
...watched the fight again, and from what I saw, Zab did not have his head in the fight because he quickly found out that he was not fast enough for Paulie...Paulies' movement had him confused, and Zab simply isn't smart enough/trained to make adjustments in a fight...he has shown that inability time and time again...like someone said above, if he had the right guidance in his career, and gotten rid of his father as a trainer earlier in his career, I think he could have been a beast...Paulie thoroughly dissected Zab....
|
2273986, They somewhat alluded to Zab having taken care of his money... Posted by BLACK_ADAM, Mon Dec-09-13 01:45 PM
...He's motivated by checks but not to be "the Best" anymore...
I think he's totally fine with "gatekeeper" prospects and the "Barclays Center, 'Farewell Brooklyn'" tour....
That said... Paulie was *QUITE* sharp....
"Inspectah Deck, he's like...he's like that dude thatta sit back and watch you play yourself and all that right? And see you sit there and know you lyin; and he'll take you to court after that, cuz he the Inspectah."
