Nice to see that the method for determining a champion is gonna have some integrity and expertise in it.
Much better than the BCS right?

Even win the PAC 12 north. The huskies are looking good this season, they may even beat Stanford again this season. I can't see the huskies losing more than two games this year.
|
2240863, they aren't winning the North Posted by sfMatt, Fri Oct-04-13 03:09 PM
they have no idea how far behind they still are
|
2240897, Not to knock Oregon but so far UW has played a better schedule and Posted by calij81, Fri Oct-04-13 05:09 PM
Have much better victories at this point in the season.
Beating Boise State the way they did was an eye opener and I wouldn't dismiss them so easily if I were you.
|
2240941, funny how nobody wants to talk abt oregon's schedule being utter ass Posted by 3xKrazy, Fri Oct-04-13 09:28 PM

2240968, oh bullshit Posted by sfMatt, Sat Oct-05-13 01:35 AM
People are talking about it. And they are noting that Oregon isn't sleep-walking through its stomping of inferior competition. That's all the Ducks can do until the conference challengers roll around.
But this Duck team has more future NFL talent than any you saw under Chip Kelly.
|
2241039, RE: oh bullshit Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Oct-05-13 01:03 PM
>People are talking about it.
I must have missed it. All I've heard is people penciling Oregon into the NC game...same thing I hear every year at this time.
>And they are noting that Oregon isn't sleep-walking through >its stomping of inferior competition.
Yep. They know how to stomp out crap teams. Which has been proven to mean nothing when faced with formidable competition.
>But this Duck team has more future NFL talent than any you saw >under Chip Kelly.
Which has nothing to do with the fact that their schedule has been crap. And even more crappy than OSU's schedule...of which I've heard far more complaining about.
|
2240966, Please, Boise is trash. Posted by sfMatt, Sat Oct-05-13 01:32 AM
And the Huskies think they are going to out-Oregon us. Please. Price is garbage under pressure and neither of their lines stack up at all to what Stanford and Oregon have.

These past few years have been good awful. I know we went to a championship but it's been bullshit watching since Vince left. Dumb play calling, in cohesive schemes, terrible personel choices and development. Under utilizing great players, over utilizing terrible ones.
I'm good on not dealing with this team for as long as he remains.
I did enjoy the 08 season though. 1 year in the last 8.

2241106, David Pollack: Keep your dumb vagina out of college football Posted by Marauder21, Sat Oct-05-13 03:15 PM
http://college-football.si.com/2013/10/05/espn-david-pollack-women-dont-belong-on-playoff-selection-committee/?sct=hp_t2_a7&eref=sihp
The names of several potential members of the College Football Playoff selection committee leaked this week, and one name stood out above many others. The Associated Press reported that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to be named to the committee, which will select the four teams that will participate in the sport’s upcoming playoff.
But according to one ESPN college football analyst, Rice doesn’t belong on that committee.
On Saturday’s ESPN College Gameday broadcast, David Pollack described his preferred criteria for those considered for the committee, criteria that included actual football experience. Host Chris Fowler asked Pollack if that meant women shouldn’t be allowed to serve on the committee.
“Now I’m going to stick my foot in my mouth, probably,” Pollack said. “I want people on this committee, guys, that can watch tape, yes, that have played football, that are around football, that can tell you different teams, on tape, not on paper–”
“So no woman belongs on the committee, then?” said Fowler.
“You said that … I’ll say it, yeah. Yeah,” said Pollack.”
Pollack’s comments caught plenty of flack on social media, including a dig from ESPN sideline reporter Samantha Ponder.

A woman having a spot would not be because there was no man more qualified, it would be a political move
How big would the committee get before you get to Condoleeza Rice (or any other woman) on the list of qualified people?
|
2241137, selecting the most qualified doesn't always result in the best group Posted by laizquierda, Sat Oct-05-13 04:47 PM
if you value a diversity of experiences and perspectives
does adding someone who duplicates an existing member actually make the group stronger? that's a valid question when it comes to any team or project
>A woman having a spot would not be because there was no man >more qualified, it would be a political move

Rice is not just a prominent but casual football supporter, however. According to Shaw, she has the mind of a coach.
Rice’s father was a football coach, and she joked that she was “supposed to be his star middle linebacker.” Although Rice’s gender may have derailed that plan, that didn’t stop her father from talking football with his only child.
Shaw said that he and Rice have drawn up some safety plays or considered ways to exploit the mismatches that Stanford’s tight ends have created in recent years.
“She loves that dynamic that we use to make big plays and also be big targets in the Red Zone,” Shaw said. “She hates prevent defenses. She loves defenses that are aggressive at the end of the game.”

2241316, Dr. Tom has also been added to the group Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Sun Oct-06-13 05:52 AM
ESPN reported Saturday that former Nebraska coach and Athletic Director Tom Osborne will serve on the first College Football Playoff selection committee in 2014. According to ESPN, Osborne is part of a 13-member panel that includes Wisconsin Athletic Director and former NU player Barry Alvarez, former college quarterback Archie Manning, a former sportswriter from USA Today, former secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and a retired Air Force Academy superintendent.
