2226191, $1500 or your team winning the SB Posted by SynsCei, Sat Sep-07-13 10:26 PM
I recently joined a Pick'em League with my local sports talk radio show (EL Paso) and the person who has the most picks wins $1500. I believe it's on a weekly basis but I ask:
If you have a chance of winning $1500 and your team loses, or vice versa, what'd you choose?
I thought the $1500 was an obvious choice but apparently their team (Cowboys) was more satisfying...
I was clowned on because apparently I'm not a "true" COwboy fan. I recited Chazz Palmentieri's (sp?) line from "Bronx Tale"......"Mickey Mantle makes $100,000......"

2226192, As a person who is a fan of a team who wins a lot Posted by Ryan M, Sat Sep-07-13 10:33 PM
in a sport with much, MUCH less parity than the NFL, mind you...
I would take the championship with zero hesitation. $1500 is nothing.

2226198, lol right? I can make 1500 bucks. I cant help ___win a championship. Posted by guru0509, Sat Sep-07-13 10:46 PM

Damn... guess there are a couple commas in your checking account. Can you spare some change then?

2226204, There's one. Posted by Ryan M, Sat Sep-07-13 10:54 PM
Still, $1500 is clearable in what, 2 weeks of work? That's less than a paycheck for someone who makes like 60k/year...a championship memories are worth 2 weeks at a job.

2226197, $1500 right now. Posted by BennyTenStack, Sat Sep-07-13 10:46 PM
At the end of the day it's a game, and I'm trying to start a family lol

Exactly! The above responses has me picture them on some Dumb and Dumber shit crying over a commercial blowing their nose into hundred dollar bills.
$1500 will do wonders for my baby....

2226306, Football is the only sport where I'd take the money Posted by VonClay, Sun Sep-08-13 05:36 AM
MLB, NCAA basketball/football & NBA I'd take the chip.
|
2226309, i'd take the $1500 likely. i wouldnt spend $1500 on a ticket so i wouldnt Posted by Cenario, Sun Sep-08-13 05:51 AM
Spend it on a chip. Only team i'd consider it for is the knicksand still no.
Give me the loot.

2226310, If it was $15k I'd be like "fuck Kobe!" but $1500 isn't really a lot of... Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Sep-08-13 07:08 AM
money, I blow that in a couple of months at bars and other bullshit. I'd easily pass that up to see another Laker title or a Rams SB win. I would think about the Cards because they just won a couple of years ago and that $1500 could be a nice trip to Vegas of somewhere, lol

2226311, no less than a half a mortgage or no deal Posted by bshelly, Sun Sep-08-13 07:47 AM
Like my man Ryan said 1500 ain't shit. I would need life-changing money to forego an eagles sb win. Nothing less than half a mortgage qualifies
|
2226379, I'd be surprised if an Eagles fan would do it for $4000. Posted by RaFromQueens, Sun Sep-08-13 12:09 PM
Don't you want to know what winning feels like?

2226526, I'm being more greedy & saying 75% of mortgage & half student loan Posted by mtbatol, Sun Sep-08-13 02:39 PM

2226312, NFL the chip. MLB is a tossup. CBB or NBA i'm spoiled, so the money Posted by CherNic, Sun Sep-08-13 07:50 AM

2226314, Yeah...I'm going Packers Posted by cantball, Sun Sep-08-13 08:13 AM
I mean,I've made 1500 in a day a few times. I've seen 2 Packers Super Bowls,2 Brewers playoff appearances, and then I root for the Bucks.

2226334, As much as I can REALLY use the $1500, Superbowl easily :\ Posted by mtbatol, Sun Sep-08-13 10:37 AM
I can really throw a couple upgrades to PC, murk a couple bills, buy a couple toys & show a couple lady prospects a good time out to some nice restaurant but.. the Eagles getting this whole tri-state region wilding out & squished up all along Broad Street would be a religious experience that would only be topped by me if I ever get married/propose to a jawn or having a newborn kid.

2226371, Considering how much I end up betting on my teams, the Superbowl Posted by RaFromQueens, Sun Sep-08-13 11:59 AM

2226432, SB all day Posted by Beamer6178, Sun Sep-08-13 12:58 PM
It doesn't COST me $1500, it's $1500 I didn't have before so I'm no worse for it. Nevermind $1500 one time won't change my life. But another Super Bowl? Oh yeah, I can live off of that for a MINUTE.
|
2226440, I am a Jets fan. I would PAY $1500 to give them a super bowl win Posted by KosherSam, Sun Sep-08-13 01:07 PM

2227024, $1,500 is not enough to clear any stress I have Posted by Rjcc, Sun Sep-08-13 08:55 PM
for any extended period of time.
if I were flat broke, sure.... but I'm not.
even if I were broke, I'd take a single lions playoff win over $1500
