I can't even explain what this is like at this point in the season. Best team in baseball comes into your stadium 2.5 games up and you win at least 3 out of 4 with 2 of them being in commanding fashion.

This doesn't happen in Pittsburgh, this has to be the biggest series in PNC Park history and it has worked out very well.

This series is the difference between last year and this year

Baseball is a streaky game, we had been so hot for most of this season it figures that we would he a rough patch at some point, there's still plenty of time to right the shop and get back on the winning track. I'm confident our bats will come around.

I saw Jay and Craig and Carpenter in the minors and they... weren't eyepopping talents. I don't think any of them were BA top-100 guys either, so it's not just my untrained eye. Craig in particular, I thought would never work for an NL team.

They're making prospect development look easy, which is scary because right now their system has way more upside than it did when the above guys were in it.

I remember it wasn't that long ago when there was talk about our farm system being depleted with almost no big league-worthy prospects.

There will be some significant decisions to make by management going forward with some key vets this off-season.
