2199862, DOPE..fucked up to bring up Jordan's sons lack of game tho lmao Posted by mtbatol, Sat Jun-22-13 10:28 AM
Got me thinkin on how MJ teached his sons to ball & blocking they shit everytime as preschoolers yelling out "YOU THROWIN THAT WEAK SHIT IN HERE?! NIGGA YOU'LL NEVER EVEN FUCKING SNIFF MY JOCK STRAP LIL'NIGGA!! ... aight sto-c'mon stop cryin n-HEY HOW ABOUT SOME ICE CREAM?! EH?! ;D "

2199864, MJ's kids were alright, they played d-1, how many multi-millionaire... Posted by ThaTruth, Sat Jun-22-13 10:41 AM
kids really have the drive an discipline to become elite athlete?
Wade's kid is all about ball now but when he's 16 and he has to choose between going to the gym to work on his game or cruising south beach in a drop top Lamborghini and pull some hoes what do you think he's going to do?

2199872, eh, there are plenty of second and third generation athletes Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jun-22-13 11:02 AM
guys who grew up rich and became stars would include grant hill, kobe, forsberg, jagr, however many Sutters there are now, ken griffey jr, bonds and others. you got all those second gen guys at UM right now (t bug jr, big dog iii, etc).
i think its more of a shadow sort of thing. those guys were bigger stars than their fathers. where did jordan's kid have to go? rarely does a big ass star have some decent pros as kids. i guess rick barry would be a notable exception. even guys like pat ewing jr and moses malone iii didn't make it and it seemed like they might.

none of the people you brought up had money like Jordan and Wade.

2199881, If they were millionaires in the 70s/80s, they were plenty rich Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jun-22-13 11:45 AM
If they were sitting on even like $2M, that's closer to $10M-$20M today. Is that Jordan money? Obviously not, but it's plenty rich to lose that hunger, drive, whatever that some dude with the same talent and only ONE SHOT to strike it rich would have.

2199911, And when you get done trying to be contrarian and trying to spin... Posted by ThaTruth, Sat Jun-22-13 01:22 PM
none those dudes had Jordan or Wade's money, most weren't even millionaires and couldn't afford to by Lamborghinis for themselves, let alone their kids back then.
In addition to all of that recreation and entertainment options are lot different than they were 20, 30, 40 years ago for kids from various economic backgrounds, not just insanely rich kids and I think it shows with a lot of the young athletes coming up today. A lot of them have ridiculous physical ability but a lot of the finer skills are just not there. Nowadays it's tough to convince a kid to go outside play with a ball all day when they have a few hundred channels on tv, playstations, xboxes, gameboys, laptops, tablets, smartphones, Facebook, twitter, instagram, and whatever else they are into.
The worth ethic, the "10,000 hours", is just not there.
Then when you have the rich kids that have all that plus luxury cars, indoor and outdoor pool at home, growing up with nannies and maids wiping their ass and cleaning up behind them, chefs preparing their food, it's just not likely to happen.

2199941, jesus christ bro, who the fuck is being 'contrarian' here? Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jun-22-13 03:05 PM
was dell curry rich? yes or no? if somebody is worth say five or ten mil or that much in relative terms in an earlier era, are they rich? rich enough that their kids dont have to do shit?
yes.
what rjcc said was spot on. you are talking out of your ass.
nice old man rant about "today's kids," too, did Bin ghost write that one for you?

What part of "not Jordan or Wade money" do you not understand?
>what rjcc said was spot on. you are talking out of your ass. > >nice old man rant about "today's kids," too, did Bin ghost >write that one for you?
It's true, don't take my word for it, look at the "talent" from recent draft pools, every year people are saying "it's a weak draft this year", its not an aberration, it's a trend

2200107, that confines it to basically no one though, this is the first gen ... Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jun-23-13 10:54 AM
of athletes with THAT kind of money
so other than jordan's kids, there is no real test case. soon, there will be a lot. already you got t bug jr, big dog iii, et al though. were THOSE guys not rich enough? they were making eight figures a year.
and relative to first generation pro athletes, ANY second gen came up rich.
are you going to keep digging this dumbass hole like usual or move onto some stupidity in another thread?

2200239, lol, that's the point I've been making all along jackass and you went... Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Jun-23-13 06:32 PM
back bringing up Brett and Bobby Hull and shit
|
2199884, actually Posted by Rjcc, Sat Jun-22-13 12:15 PM
many of them do.
they grow up knowing exactly how hard you have to work to be a pro athlete, and have a living example in front of them every day that it can be done. I think that does plenty for that drive, everyone wants more than they have even those kids.
