2195341, Game 4 Speed Versus Size Heat vs the Spurs
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 12:51 AM
of course the Heat are going to Win tonight. of course Lebron James will get to the free throw line and handle his business.

i expect the Heat to win by 7 and crash them boards. the spurs had an out of body game, it ain't happening again.

win this one and we are Partying in South BEach and you can Quote me.

Heat don't lose two in a row either.
2195348, Will Lebron score 20 points?
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Jun-13-13 01:07 AM
2195350, easily and i expect a great all around game
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 01:32 AM
if the Heat win this game then they might go on a run
2195360, Will Lebron score 20 points?
Posted by FILF, Thu Jun-13-13 05:00 AM
2195361, So it's 4 games, then 5, then 6 now 7?
Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Thu Jun-13-13 06:07 AM
We told you guys this wasn't going to be over in less than 6 either way, where's all that bluster now?
2195874, the Heat could arguably be up 3-1
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 10:45 PM
the spurs did comeback in game 1,however the spurs have only played one complete game. the heat blew them bootys out in the Heat two wins.
2195364, Bron saying all the right things, fine. Go do it now.

Posted by Garhart Poppwell, Thu Jun-13-13 07:01 AM
he has to do it for three more games at least
2195421, I don't see this like 2011..
Posted by LegacyNS, Thu Jun-13-13 09:52 AM
I felt like Bron was hiding vs the Mavs. In this series, I don't think he's hiding. I think SA is limiting him by not allowing him to be as comfortable as he'd like to be.

He's game & if he get a chance to go off I fully expect him to.

2195483, Yup. I think the Spurs still win the series, but yeah.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Jun-13-13 12:28 PM
To this point it's been LeBron's fault.

I don't think it'll be after tonight, but so far, yeah.
2195486, Well, if they lose Bron gonna get fried rightfully so or not.. lol
Posted by LegacyNS, Thu Jun-13-13 12:37 PM
I kinda hesitate to say his fault, at least in total, because I think it's more the Spurs gameplan than LeBron shrinking. He's not getting layups in transition. He's not getting to the rim in the half court & therefore he's unable to establish a rhythm. The longer this goes on the more difficult it's gonna be for Bron to get going.

I think they take this game, lose 5 and win 6 and 7. Bron will almost certainly force action and get to the line. Who know how well TP will play. I see Spo drawing up more iso situations for Bron in the post and going back to Battier a bit more as well. We'll see tho

Bron puts 40, 20, 15, and 9. He solve world hunger by the end of the game.
2195500, Bron could go for 50 but if Miami plays a step slow on D like game 3
Posted by LA2Philly, Thu Jun-13-13 01:21 PM
They lose. The foundation of Miami is their defense and everything stems from that.
2195506, their defense will be swarming tonight, that's always the hallmark

of these bouce-back/post-L/save-the-season games for them.
2195517, Yup...and if Parker is limited, SA loses their best counter
Posted by LA2Philly, Thu Jun-13-13 01:40 PM
Tony does a really good job of using that aggression against teams...drawing the double and then finding the angle for the next pass which creates a scrambling defense.
2195551, The Biggest Thing That Would Hurt SA Sans Parker
Posted by RexLongfellow, Thu Jun-13-13 03:02 PM
Is if Miami is on the swarm (WuTang killa b's style), then it might force turnovers. That's what the key was in Game 2.
If they swarm and force low shooting %'s, it's anyone's game (like Game 1)

If Parker's not there or ineffective, make Manu beat them...he's played terrible for most of the post-season and is definitely vulnerable to turning the ball over
2195501, I don't know what to think anymore
Posted by PCProductions, Thu Jun-13-13 01:22 PM
I really hope Lebron puts in a career game tonight, but that depends on the Spurs as much as him. So far, they've put him right where they want him.

Come on, Bron. Let's see a Game 4 @ Chicago 2010 tonight.

Nothing to do with heart...

They are just a flawed team....The fact that Wade and Bosh are far from themselves doesn't help matters, but that ain't even the biggest reason...

The Heat thrive on turnovers...If Bron ain't igniting the break then it's a long night....That's how they win games...Well, the Spurs are not turning the ball over....

Shit is quite cut and dry....

They're the main ones who lack heart. Supposed to be some of the best players in the game yet they can't step up on the biggest stage when they need to.

Wade will blame it on injuries, but I think it's his bruised ego. People give him praise for acquiescing to Brawn, but that clearly hurt his confidence. They're playing off him 15 ft away from the rim. He's shook. No heart.

Bosh has the confidence of a high school Freshmen B team benchwarmer. Scared to play physical and is mentally weak. Cries when he loses regular season games = no heart.

2195659, Heat got hurt they gotta step into a different gear and they can
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 08:24 PM
the spurs are tough, however not hard to figure out and what they did tuesday night ain't happening again. wade looks good. once the Heat win in San Antonio then its a wrap back in South beach period

U talking about figuring a team out...I'm talking about the Heat being flawed....Whether the game is a blow-out or close, it doesn't matter...The Spurs will pull it out....

As someone that would rather see the Heat win (I'm on that Eastern Conference shit), the issue is the TEAM and coaching, not figuring things out...

I trust Pop more....

And that's the catch 22...The Heat have to pray for two things: Wade turning into Wade (which so far he's been doing this game...) and a crazy ass run off of turnovers....

2195682, this pace favors the Heat
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 08:39 PM
if the Heat like they are suppose to then they got this and once back in South Beach you know how it goes.

obviously you have to create turnovers, however the heat have to cause the physical and get to the free line and stay agressive.

2195911, bwahahaha Nope, one good gm does not an mvp make - this was
Posted by vee-lover, Fri Jun-14-13 12:06 AM
Wade's *1st* good complete gm in the series

And despite Lebron's lack of offensive output in gm 3, he's still easily the Heat's frontrunner for finals mvp...

-18/18/10
-was the engineer of that 33-5 run in gm 2
-33/11/4 tonight

And while Wade did take over in the 3rd, Bron still had 24 thru 3 some boards some dimes and a few steals and a huge blk on Timmay

If the Heat win this series, Lebron will have as many finals mvps as Bean lol

MAD

Posted by MothershipConnection, Thu Jun-13-13 10:45 PM
What a weird but well played series.
2195886, Yeah, anything can fucking happen at any time
Posted by J_Stew, Thu Jun-13-13 10:51 PM
If this goes 7 could be one of the best finals ever despite some games being blow outs
2195876, Pop need to play T-Mac more in this series.
Posted by B.J.S.301, Thu Jun-13-13 10:46 PM
He seriously can't be no worse than Manu. Keep Manu on the bench cause clearly he can't play to the gameplan.
2195880, De Colo isn't to shabby but Pop insists on not playing him

2195890, As I said in the pre, the game (and series) comes down to Miami's D
Posted by LA2Philly, Thu Jun-13-13 10:53 PM
If they are near the top of their defensive game, they are forcing an offense into contested jumpers and 15+ turnovers, both of which result in run outs. When that happens, their other weaknesses aren't great enough to negate that large cushion/margin for error for 4 games out of 7. Yeh, they will have some outlier games like game 3 but for the most part, when they decide to ramp up their D, they are so tough.

Props to D Wade tonight as well...he finally showed up.
2195897, Yeah but Manu & Splitter are playing into their hands
Posted by FILF, Thu Jun-13-13 11:01 PM
If Tony was able to play his normal minutes this game was very winnable even w/ Wade going off since Cory & Manu were atrocious in back-up duties. On top of that the Spurs got out-rebounded by Miami which is a big L.
2195899, Watching Miami not try on D is infuriating
Posted by MothershipConnection, Thu Jun-13-13 11:02 PM
I couldn't understand in Game 1 and Game 3 (and I know Game 1 was close) how Miami was consistently so poor on rotations and giving so many clean looks to Green and Neal from 3. Wade was even more negligent than usual on those and even Lebron was getting on that. This game, Green and Neal still couldn't miss but they weren't taking as many shots and had to put the ball on the floor more cause Miami was pretty much staying at home on them.

Miami is just so moody like that, it seems when things are going poorly on one end or the other it really affects them on the other end... you don't usually see that from great teams which is why they look so bipolar.
2195904, It's hard for them to stay locked in mentally game after game
Posted by FILF, Thu Jun-13-13 11:08 PM
It's as if they mail in games defensively unless it's a pivotal or closeout game.
2195891, LOL @ Maxx being up and down this post after sitting out game 3

2195905, game 3 stunk and if you read what i wrote on that last thread,
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 11:11 PM
i did say the Heat would win this game. so why you are trying to clown me, i still was in that thread and said the spurs wouldn't play that kind of game again.

i was posting in that thread, however of course a victory gets you hyped duh
2195895, RE: Game 4 Speed Versus Size Heat vs the Spurs
Posted by murph71, Thu Jun-13-13 10:56 PM

Bron and Wade....8 steals combined....Heat got more than 20 points off of TO's (19)

This^^^^plus Wade and Bron finally playing like all-stars got that W...85 points between the Big Three....

If Wade plays like this the Heat are pretty much unbeatable...

But can the old man stay on it? That's the question....

As is, no fan, whether Heat or Spurs, should be sticking out their chest in this series....

This shit is going to be barn burner....
2195906, i still see the Heat wrapping it up back home, because
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Thu Jun-13-13 11:16 PM
the spurs are getting exposed because Ginobli is off and it shows.

the Heat are feeling comfortable and the Spurs ain't that team from back when, because i'll say this the old spurs would have put a foot down, however they are older and being exposed, still this is a Fantastic series a contrast of styles.

David Stern is smiling from his Grave.

The same could have been said for Wade until this game.....

This is a see-saw series, Maxx.....So I wouldn't jump to conclusions on anything...

>David Stern is smiling from his Grave.

Bottom line....If Wade can give them another game like that then the Heat will pull it off...

But that's very uncertain.....And that's the rub....

man one thing about the heat once they blow you out they usually win the series and also they have blown the spurs out twice, when was the last time you saw the spurs give up a 100 points twice in a week and get blown out again?

d wade was great and all he has to do is take shots and be aggressive same with bron and bosh. bosh on the block just get his david robinson swat on, drive to the hole and its a good look.

to me though coach spo got a big one on pop with mike miller in the starting lineup, that threw the spurs well off.

defend the 3 point line and bang them in the paint.

like i said neal and green are having an out of body series each, however it ain't gonna hold up.

ginobli is the difference and he can't find no gear.

5-10 years back with those old defensive minded spurs,, this series might be the spurs 3-1, however this version of the spurs doesn't play like the ones lebron saw when he was in cleveland.

while POP is one of the greatest coaches ever,etc.. the push to be a offense first has exposed them in ways which use to hardly ever be there.

the worst thing to happen to the spurs was sweeping memphis because they got a alse sense of where they are,not saying they don't win that series however they ain't hardly 4-0 against any legit team.

to me the spurs are very lucky to have gotten where they got this year.

the lakers nearly half the team hurt round 1
the warriors young, green and they blew game 1 round 2

the grizzles no rudy gay and no offense round 3

the spurs have had a great season, however they are very lucky
2195922, Both teams feed off of TOs...basically has been the series key stat

2195898, the Heat are damn near impossible to beat when the Big 3
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Thu Jun-13-13 11:02 PM
is on like that. Kind of strange how these guys will disappear then dominate. All 3 of them - especially DWade were completely different players tonight.

Pop's going to have to tinker with the lineup because the Spurs can't possibly afford to keep giving Shitter and Ginobli serious minutes. They provide absolutely nothing and do more harm than good being on the floor. I know it puts a lot of pressure on Timmay, but there's no point throwing Shitter out there expecting he can take advantage of the massive size advantage he *should* have.

Parker is going to have to will himself through these next 3 games (I still think it goes 7). Duncan's going to have to play 35+ and the young guns - Kawhi, Danny Green and Gary Neal are going to have to player more. I'm tired of watching the bench guys come in a give up leads.

Kudos to the Heat though. That was an impressive showing.
2195902, I expect Diaw to start GM 5 w/ Miller playing the stretch 4
Posted by FILF, Thu Jun-13-13 11:06 PM
Shitter along w/ Bonner can get minutes when Tim sits .....I won't be surprise if De Colo gets some backup duty over MANUre.

first, what a perfomance by Wade and Lebron. Props to them. controlled this game from after they cut into the Spurs 10 point lead. Lebron got better touches, started off game gettign some easy buckets posting up Kwahi.

crazy that the big 3 have played pretty bad and the series is 2-2 still.

I think whoever has the most energy will finish off this series. Miami has Homecourt advantage and they have the fresher legs. We will see if Wade continues to play better... did he use some deer antler spray? lol.

Splitter was bad... was almost like manu in game 2.

Spurs win game 5, I think they have a good shot of winning at least one in miami. It's all over if Heat win game 5.

2195921, I'm not sure about that
Posted by FILF, Fri Jun-14-13 06:05 AM
>they have the
>fresher legs.
more athletic....yeah, fresher.....that usually becomes evident when the jumper start falling short, so we'll see in GM 6 since GM 5 is going to be a dog fight & most likely both team will be spent. With the Heat deploying the 8 man rotation along w/ the 48 min scramble D, I don't think that bodes well for Wade in GM 6 no matter the outcome of GM 5.
2195941, At least 1?? Maybe 2??

2195931, Spurs are lucky to be in a tied series
Posted by Musa, Fri Jun-14-13 08:34 AM
They are jacking 3s like the 02-03 Celtics which has kept them in these games. And like the cliche goes you live by the three you die by it. Its gonna be ugly if the spurs cant keep up shoot 50% from 3point range.
2195937, Heat are lucky to be in a tied series
Posted by LegacyNS, Fri Jun-14-13 08:42 AM
They're extremely dependent on fast break points and driving the lane in their set offense. It's gonna be ugly if the Heat can't get turnovers that lead to transition baskets and the Spurs can clog the lane in the half court.

2195940, heat have been playing like that defensively
Posted by Musa, Fri Jun-14-13 09:06 AM
all year Spurs aint been shooting 50% from 3 all year so bad analogy. Also it takes more precision to hit low percentage shots than it does to have defensive intensity especially when you are as athletic as MIA
2195948, well they definitely haven't been playing that way all playoffs..
Posted by LegacyNS, Fri Jun-14-13 09:27 AM
which kind makes what they did in the regular season less significant at this point..

>all year Spurs aint been shooting 50% from 3 all year so bad
>analogy. Also it takes more precision to hit low percentage
>shots than it does to have defensive intensity especially when
>you are as athletic as MIA

The point is it's a battle of styles. SA is a good 3 point shooting / half court team. Miami is a good attack the rim / transition team. If one team can impose their style on the other then they'll win..

they really are because they stole game 1 and only have imposed there will in game 3, however they could easily be down 3-1 and this ain't those old spurs teams which would put you to sleep, while they can still play defense, they also are more offense focused and with jacking 3's and not having a compliment to duncan in the box who can score, then suddenly the lane is open.

2196239, When the Heat play swarm D for 48 min, they win...simple as that
Posted by FILF, Fri Jun-14-13 04:18 PM
In GM 1 they played swarm D for 36 min then fatigue set in the 4th. In GM 3, they mailed in the game for whatever reason. In Gm 2/4, they reverted back to the swarm D & never let their feet off the pedal.

OKC showed the blueprint to beating the Spurs is to disrupt their ball mvt......and Miami has the personnel to do so, thus it's a matter of them putting in the work for 48 minutes & not letting their feet off the pedal for a full 48 minutes. IMO, if the series goes the full 7 adv. Spurs b/c Miami's D is fully dependent on their energy level....I'm not sure how well their legs will hold up playing back-to-back Gm 7 series.

da fuck @ the dramatic shift in tone
why are ppl intent on making these dumb definitive narratives, literally, on a game to game basis?
it's the finals. two of the best teams, two of the best coaches
it's a fucking chessmatch nitwits
did birdman even play last night? was pop ready for that?
is anyone going to overreact and roast T5T for disappearing in the 2nd half last night?
etc
had the (dis)pleasure of listening to simmons pre-game 4 podcast on the way in
smg, just wrong and DUMB
like let the fucking games play out, gosh
i don't remember shit being like this preBron era
think i'ma going just fall back till the finals are over
shits aggravating

2196021, Sports analysts/media are the worst in these playoffs/Finals
Posted by Oak27, Fri Jun-14-13 11:10 AM
They went from writing off the Spurs after Game 2, to writing off the Heat after Game 3, and now have no idea what to think. They've probably changed their minds on who is the favorite to win after every single game, and no team has even had a more than 1 game advantage on the other.

No less than 24 hours ago people were talking about how LeBron was back to playing scared and choking a la 2011 Finals, now they are probably back on his schlong.

Just watch the series (which has been the best since the 2 Celts/Lakers series a few years back, despite there being 3 blowouts) and enjoy 2 great teams BATTLING.
