Ya'll love talking about Floyd's money so read this here. I keep on trying to tell you Floyd fans...Pacquiao is NOT an American citizen. He is born in a 3rd world country with only an elementary school education that's getting $20M US guaranteed. Who REALLY came from the struggle??

Y'all criticize him for being "Arum's bitch" but he HAS to. The REAL reason why he didn't take Floyd's test is because he's only allowed a certain # of days per year in the US.

If Manny agreed to USADA testing he would have had to fly to the US every time Floyd...I mean Richard Schaefer...I mean USADA asked Manny for a "random" test. Not only would that fuck with Pacquiao's business, but it would fuck up his training camp. With VADA handling the testing of his fight Rios (http://www.fighthype.com/news/article14397.html), VADA will fly to him or Manny will fly to China. He's fighting in Asia, HIS territory, not Arum's. I say it's a step for him "being his own."

Pacquiao Takes Fight in Macau, U.S. Federal Income Tax Rate Proves Too High
Boxing Superstar's Next Fight Will Be Outside the U.S.

As reported by Yahoo! Sports, boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao’s next fight will take place on November 24; however, for the first time since 2006, the fight will take place outside of the U.S. The official destination of this multimillion dollar sporting event is The Venetian in Macau, China.

As ATR reported in February, the possibility of Pacquiao’s next fight not taking place on U.S. soil due to a punitive federal income tax rate of 39.6 percent was greater than most would suspect.

As boxing promoter Bob Arum told Yahoo! Sports in February, “Manny can go back to Las Vegas and make $25 million, but how much of it will he end up with – $15 million?"

Clearly, the answer is less than what he stands to earn after taxes in Macau.

By holding his next fight in Macau, Pacquiao would only be responsible for a top marginal income tax rate of 12 percent - that’s a whopping 27.6 percent less than the U.S. top marginal federal income tax rate.

As ATR wrote in February:

Since Pacquiao is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, he can keep a larger percentage of his fight earnings by taking fights outside of the U.S. The other options Pacquiao and his management team have considered are Macau and Singapore: both casino and gaming markets comparable to Las Vegas and ideal to host a grand boxing event.

If Pacquiao were to earn a hypothetical $20 million for this upcoming fight in Macau, his after tax earnings would be $17.6 million – as opposed to the $12.1 million he would earn for the same proposed scenario in the U.S.

The loss of major athletic and sporting events will have economic repercussions on the American economy specifically tourism.

Fewer boxing matches per year would mean fewer vendors, a decrease in tourism, and less money being spent in host cities. Hosting a major sporting event has proven to create jobs and insert economic life within the city. The federal government needs to follow the examples being set by GOP governors seeking to reduce their respective state’s income tax burden or risk losing investments across every industry.

Pacquiao’s decision to fight in Macau will establish a trend among other non-resident boxers – or any athlete that is a non-resident of the U.S. for that matter - seeking to earn more money during their relatively short professional careers.

Simply put, tax rates matter to everyone regardless of earnings. In Pacquiao’s case, his chief advisor, Michael Koncz said it best, “…the 39.6 percent tax rate Pacquiao would face if he were to fight again in the U.S. makes a fall bout in Las Vegas "a no go."

I know y'all OK Sports experts and steroid experts will have nothing to say about this except try to kill the messenger or make "Pacquiao's still asleep" jokes. Carry on...
2178795, 20 mill - 12% = 17 mill, 32 mill - 40% = 20 mill

Floyd still makes more without having to tax dodge.

TrendOne solve this equation

40,000,000 - 40%

I'll wait.

Arum COULD pay Manny more to fight considering he is the best fighter not named Floyd...but then that would cut away from Arum's profits

2178804, fuck that $40M. his old business partner even said he didn't have it.
Posted by TRENDone, Sat May-11-13 11:28 PM
that $40M was coming from Schaefer and 50. and whatever bank account of Pacquaio that Floyd claimed he was gonna wire to, that bank would've taken some off the top along with Uncle Sam's 40%. The same people that 100% believe that the $40M offer was coming from Floyd's pockets are the same people that believe Floyd took that plea deal "for his family." It's half-truth.

LOL at Floyd not dodging taxes! Let Manny make his money in Asia so he could put up more of his own money if Floyd wants to possibly negotiate again. He probably won't because he'll be happier fighting 5 more nobodies.

But Pac MUST win against Rios and Floyd must fight Canelo next for even the slightest chance for the megafight to happen, but i'm not holding my breath. The fighthype link above about VADA testing is proof why he didn't test with Floyd and Schaefer's friends at USADA.

Here's some math problems that some Floyd fans might not be able to solve:

1) What's $250M - 40%?

2a) T or F? Eearnings from Pacquioao vs. Mayweather I + rematch >>>> $250M from Showtime

2b) T or F? Floyd was honestly going to wire $40M to Pacquiao in 48 hours
2178810, 50 Cent sheds some light on my question 2b)

"The first time he offered $40M, YOU KNOW I (50) WAS OVER THERE, where that $$ come from?" -50 Cent

Let's keep it real. You ever went over to a friend's house, let's call him "Floyd," and he doesn't have any food, drinks, or weed? He'll then call some hoes and say "come over, IIII have food, drinks, and weed!"

Where's it coming from?

This post has all the links you need to know that the testing and $40M offer was bullshit. But hey, I wanted the superfight more than anyone. I'm not stupid, I know that $40M offer from Floyd was the best chance to making the megafight happen. After Pacquiao lost to Bradley, I was in a room full of brothas and the first thing I said was "Fuck, now he's gotta fight Floyd for $20M now..."

PS. You don't think Pacquaio is getting Hennessy, Hewlett Packard, and Nike endorsement money tho? It's not the same money Floyd's getting betting on his own fights but it's something. IJS!
2178826, You can't even celebrate Manny w/o bitching about Floyd
Posted by magilla vanilla, Sun May-12-13 06:37 AM
Shit's kinda sad…
2178873, and you can't debate anythin above
Posted by TRENDone, Sun May-12-13 12:25 PM
just try to assassinate character. it's all good tho. Here's cliffnotes for you, buddy:

-The REAL reason why he didn't take Floyd's test is because he's only allowed a certain # of days per year in the US.

-Yes Floyd made a $40M offer, but it wasn't his. It was coming from 50cent.
2179281, That doesn't obscure the fact that in a post celebrating Manny
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 06:53 AM
The first person you talked about was Floyd.
2179325, And your boy Floyd don't got an opponent for this Fall
Posted by TRENDone, Mon May-13-13 09:03 AM
-Brags about fighting Cotto at 154, his walk around weight
-goes on vacay, fights a tune-up vs a nobody at 147
-won't fight his 2nd biggest payday available, Canelo, at 154 cuz he's "too big". Asks for 147...

Yup he's ducking the young stud
2179472, Cool. You still can't stop talking about Floyd when you talk Pac
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 01:44 PM
2179486, Um...cuz Floyd's the greatest of this generation?
Posted by TRENDone, Mon May-13-13 02:12 PM
and they had a rivalry outside of the ring for 3 years?
2179588, That doesn't mean that every post about Floyd needs to include Pac
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 04:14 PM
I'm glad Pacquiao is finding new ways to make bread and be a Congressman. But him trying to open up the Chinese market ain't got a thing to do with Floyd Mayweather's boxing career, unless Manny is booking the Floyd fight there. And it'd be the same thing if Floyd was fixing to fight in China without Manny.
2179669, yeah, I'm all over the place with this post...
Posted by TRENDone, Mon May-13-13 07:50 PM
So lemme simplify:

-if and ONLY IF Pacquiao beats Rios...it should make him the #1 candidate to fight Floyd Spring 2014. And the VADA testing should be proof enough that he's clean like he's always been.

-word on the street is Floyd's choices for his next opponents now are: Khan, Berto, D Alexander LOLOLOL
2179188, Between this guy and the Lin fan asians ride kinda hard on here.

china is the last place you want to be streaming some shit lol
that's a cool idea i think for the US market tho

it's a good way to get ppl to buy fights they don't really care about or fights no one is throwing fight parties for
i would have bought the floyd fight and watched the shit on my laptop if it was $10

Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 02:01 PM
I just find it funny that in a post supposedly about Pac making moves, OP took five words to get to Floyd's name.

Like, celebrate your guy first, at least for a second, before you go casting shade the other way.
2179495, ah yes. Mayweather fans are true martyrs
Posted by T Reynolds, Mon May-13-13 02:22 PM
2179590, Not a thing to do with martyrdom.
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 04:19 PM
I just think it's weird that dude can't just enjoy Manny's triumphs.
2179592, don't act like one can be mentioned on this board without the other
Posted by T Reynolds, Mon May-13-13 04:21 PM
OKS is just like that

Not for nothing but in the post originally announcing Pacquiao / Rios in Macau... wasn't your response "clearly he's ducking Mayweather"?

that's kinda going against what you're saying in this post don't you think?
2179620, I didn't open a new post to supposedly talk about one
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon May-13-13 05:34 PM
only to bring up the other within 5 words.

And yes, I posted that as a piss-take of the instant reaction from Pacistan anytime Floyd announces an opponent. There's a difference.
