2144201, Redraft the 2008 NBA draft class 1-15 (with the information you today)
Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Mar-09-13 10:22 AM
---> http://www.nbadraft.net/nba_draft_history/2008.html

this draft was deep as fuck, talented players in the 2nd round, legitimate centers, and top 5 talent like westbrook and rose.

1.Westbrook
2.Rose
3.Ibaka
4.Robin Lopez
5.Love
6.deandre jordan
7.niko pekovic
8.eric gordon
9.Gallinari
10.Batum
11.oj mayo
12.Asik
13.ryan anderson
14.mario chalmers
15.javelle mcghee

I chose westbrook 1st because rose hasn't been able to prove he is still the player he was prior to his injury.
2144204, i think you have the wrong brother
Posted by pretentious username, Sat Mar-09-13 11:29 AM

>4.Robin Lopez

and either way, above Love???
2144217, yeah i do, i meant brook
Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Mar-09-13 12:25 PM
I have him above love because i don't think love can carry a team by himself , not saying brook can, but brook provides an inside offensive presence which most teams cannot defend in this league.
2144296, You can't have Love under Lopez or even Westbrook, just can't
Posted by isaaaa, Sat Mar-09-13 05:00 PM

After Holiday Sale, take advantage of 25% off www.karmaloop.com w/ rep code JR9103 | Nike, G-Star, Spiewak, etc.
+ a full line of Women's wear (Jeffrey Campbell, etc.)
2144301, You can have him under Westbrook.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sat Mar-09-13 05:05 PM
An undisputed Top 3 PG this year.

But yeah, not Lopez.
2144233, Mine:
Posted by Frank Longo, Sat Mar-09-13 01:39 PM
1. Rose
2. Westbrook
3. Love
4. Lopez
5. Ibaka
6. Ryan Anderson
7. Gallinari
8. Pekovic
9. Batum
10. Jordan
11. Hibbert
12. Koufos
13. Dragic
14. George Hill
15. Speights

Would make this list with one more strong year: Robin Lopez, Hickson
2144253, RE: Mine:
Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Mar-09-13 02:10 PM
yeah, i like both robin and hickson, wanted to put them both on the list but there isn't enough room.
2144315, 123 are interchangeable to me, as are 567, but yeah
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Mar-09-13 05:57 PM
2144455, rose and westbrook are clearly ahead of love
Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Mar-09-13 11:24 PM
yall buggin
2144482, OJ isn't top 15?
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Mar-10-13 03:19 AM
2144484, I personally place a premium on bigs and point guards.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Mar-10-13 03:25 AM
Mayo deserves consideration on the low end of the top fifteen though, definitely. SoulHonky's post is better than mine: it comes down to team need. Surely ONE of the top fifteen teams would desire a scoring guard over a big or a point.
2144492, SG is the hardest position to fill in the NBA
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Mar-10-13 04:32 AM
Point guard is arguably easiest and, for rebuilding teams, they'd wait until next year's draft (knowing what we know now.)

The biggest issue with Mayo is his attitude. I'm not sure that, no matter where he went, he'd need to be taken down a peg and eventually need a change of scenery. Then again, Memphis is a gang of misfits so maybe that made matters worse.
2144486, Why dont Kosta/Speights have to have ANY strong years to make this list?

2144488, Good point, lol.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Mar-10-13 03:47 AM
I just like their potential slightly more.

Those final few bigs are all fairly even imo.
2144914, yea Hickson has to be on there over Speights' dumb ass
Posted by rjc27, Mon Mar-11-13 08:17 AM
otherwise like this list
2144256, damn that draft was tight.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Mar-09-13 02:23 PM
2144322, lol no hibbert lol
Posted by thejerseytornado, Sat Mar-09-13 06:13 PM
fail.
-----------
It's only funny till someone gets mad. Then it's hilarious.
2144323, He had Chalmers over Hibbert.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sat Mar-09-13 06:15 PM
And I LOVE Chalmers.
2144457, seriously, fuck has hibbert been doin this year
Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Mar-09-13 11:26 PM
i've seen the pacers play a lot this year, he is not the same player we saw last season. he's shooting 42% from the field at 7'2
2144494, He's still a difference maker on D
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Mar-10-13 04:38 AM
I think he's soft and should be much better than he is on offense but he is a defensive anchor for one of the best defensive teams in the league. No way he falls out of the top 15 in a redraft and he goes before any big besides Love, Lopez, and Ibaka.

Nobody is taking DeAndre, Pekovic, and Javale over him. Shit, Javale can't even start over Kostas Koufos, who went in this same draft and re-signed for less than a third of what McGee got.
2145020, except against the Heat
Posted by bshelly, Mon Mar-11-13 11:11 AM
I can't shake this feeling that, when the games are at their most intense and competitive, that Roy Hibbert is just a little too slow to keep up. Great, underrated regular season player who just really can't be on the court much, in any kind of featured role, if you want to win a chip.
2145074, I don't necessarily disagree
Posted by SoulHonky, Mon Mar-11-13 12:07 PM
But it's not like Jordan (who can't even play crunch time on the Clippers), Pekovic, Asik, Anderson, McGee are doing shit against the Heat either. And even though Hibbert's soft, you still take him over Mario Chalmers.

On a draft board, I'd drop him below guys like Batum and Gallo and maybe consider Anderson and Asik because of his contract but there's no way you don't take Hibbert in the top 15 of that draft. I could see him perhaps sliding out of the top ten but not all the way out of the lotto.
2144336, Well, if it's a redraft, the teams are important
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Mar-09-13 06:54 PM
1. Chicago Bulls: Derrick Rose
Rose's knee is the only reason I think Chicago would reconsider.

2. Miami Heat: Kevin Love
K-Love on the Superfriends and the league would be a wrap. (And they still could have landed LeBron and Bosh, they just wouldn't have been able to sign Mike Miller.)

3. Minnesota Timberwolves: Russell Westbrook
Russ working with Big Al Jefferson on offense could be interesting.

4. Seattle Supersonics: Brook Lopez
It wouldn't have kept them in Seattle but it fills the hole at center and builds an interesting Lopez, Jeff Green, Kevin Durant frontcourt.

5. Memphis Grizzlies: Serge Ibaka
They had Kyle Lowry/Mike Conley, Mike Miller, Rudy Gay, and had just acquired Marc Gasol in the Pau trade. Ibaka is the best fit for that team.

6. New York Knicks: Roy Hibbert
The Knicks needed a PG at the time (Chris Duhon would start in 2008-9) and had David Lee and Z-Bo in the frontcourt but adding a defensive anchor like Hibbert would have helped more than the remaining PGs.

7. Los Angeles Clippers: Eric Gordon
The Clippers probably wouldn't want to change their fortunes much since sucking got them Blake Griffin and Gordon was later a key piece to acquire Chris Paul.

8. Milwaukee Bucks: Nic Batum
On draft night, Ryan Anderson might have been the pick to pair with Ridnour/Sessions, Redd, Richard Jefferson, and Andrew Bogut. But seeing how that fell apart, they go with the best talent available in Batum.

9. Charlotte Bobcats: Ryan Anderson
Not the best player available but a good fit in between Okafor and Gerald Wallace.

10. New Jersey Nets: Danilo Gallinari
The Nets had just dumped Richard Jefferson and The Rooster would have been a nice guy to play off of Jason Kidd and Vince Carter.

11. Indiana Pacers: OJ Mayo
Well, first off, if I'm Portland, I don't trade Jarrett Jack and the #13 pick for the #11 so this pick stays with Indiana. The Pacers fill their hole at shooting guard with OJ.

12. Sacramento Kings: Omer Asik
They need a PG but, regardless of this pick, they'd have a top pick in 2009, which is a PG heavy draft so no need to waste a pick on that now. This team desperately needs some basketball IQ, which eliminates most of the big men remaining. Asik is a mess on offense but this team needs some defense so I'll go with him. Also, Asik's development was slow enough that he's cheaper than his fellow big men in this draft and money is what's most important to the Maloofs..

13. Portland Trailblazers: DeAndre Jordan
I think they stick with Jarrett Jack running the point so the PGs aren't an option. I'm not a huge fan of Jordan but out of the remaining big men, he's the best fit alongside Aldridge.

14. Golden State Warriors: Nikola Pekovic
They just lost Baron Davis and were about to implode. Pekovic gives them some offense in the frontcourt and is probably good enough to convince the Warriors that they don't need to re-sign Andris Biedrins to a big deal.

15. Phoenix Suns: Brandon Rush
This was the Nash, Amar'e, Shaq Suns. All Rush has to do is shoot the ball and that's something he's very good at doing.

Honorable Mention: George Hill and Goran Dragic. They probably deserved to go earlier but point guard is the easiest position to fill nowadays and, as noted, 2009 was loaded with point guards so, knowing what we know, it makes more sense to go after a project big man than a good but not great point guard.
2144483, Love would be a liability in Miami, they're at their best when Bosh is...
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Mar-10-13 03:24 AM
at C and Leebron is at the 4
2144491, I'd hardly call that a liability
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Mar-10-13 04:29 AM
When Bosh went down, they wouldn't have missed a beat like they did last year if they had Love. And he adds fire power to the Heat when LeBron sits. They'd be able to give all sorts of different looks, it would be a wrap for the league.
2144497, uh, I think they'd figure it out alright.
Posted by Bombastic, Sun Mar-10-13 05:41 AM
2144465, russ westbrook will prove to be the best player from this draft
Posted by Basaglia, Sun Mar-10-13 12:25 AM
2144468, ...not the dude who won MVP...
Posted by FromTheGo, Sun Mar-10-13 01:06 AM
but the other guy, lol...
2144496, u couldn't call Presti for an even swap today without gettin hung up on
Posted by Bombastic, Sun Mar-10-13 05:40 AM
Westbrook hasn't missed a game in his entire career, anyone saying they'd take Rose over him moving forward is letting emotions overrule logic.
2144979, are we betting on rose coming back this year or no?
Posted by Cenario, Mon Mar-11-13 10:23 AM
i said $50 or less in the other post... not sure if you responded.
2144513, How cute.
Posted by Ceej, Sun Mar-10-13 09:12 AM
2144474, LOL @ jordan over batum.
Posted by Guinness, Sun Mar-10-13 01:49 AM
2144493, Not a lot of love for Nic.
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Mar-10-13 04:35 AM
For me, the only knock on him is that he's good enough to make big money but isn't good enough to be The Man. Kind of has a Deng/Iggy/Granger feel to him in that way.

Then again, I wonder if Terry Stotts is the problem in Portland because I don't get how that team isn't doing better than they are.
2144517, Jordan over almost anyone on that list is likely wrong
Posted by Bombastic, Sun Mar-10-13 10:00 AM
2144994, that's kind of where i'm at, and i consider myself a jordan fan
Posted by veritas, Mon Mar-11-13 10:43 AM
2144913, man the Nets trading Ryan Anderon infuriated me at the time
Posted by rjc27, Mon Mar-11-13 08:15 AM
even at this moment he's exactly what they need a 4 who can rebound yet still stretch the floor
2144943, he's such a valuable player.
Posted by Guinness, Mon Mar-11-13 09:30 AM
not much of a defender, but having a deadly stretch four who can actually rebound is a huge weapon in today's NBA.
