The NBA has a pretty strict no-foul-retaliation policy.
It was initially a Flagrant 1, but then when the officials reviewed it, they saw the tunnel vision in Barea's retaliation. Instant eject.
Barea then like an idiot essentially admitted after the game that he retaliated. So it's not getting overturned any time soon.

I mixed up my words in the post above. The elbow Barea gets tunnel vision after is while Ray has the ball. But according to what I heard, the scrapping sort of built on both ends to that possession.
