Posted by mistermaxxx08, Tue Feb-05-13 09:00 PM
nobody is seeing this cat. he got all the tools and the future ahead and he is a better player right now than Larry Bird IMO and I saw Bird, however if Bron played with a Robert parrish and Kevin Mchale he would win 5 straight rangs easily.

he won with D Wade and spare tires, give him some Proven Wood in the glass and the cat wins in bunches.

he got enough of a resume right now that is hanging in the top 10 ever as we speak and he has won and dominated with less than what Kobe had in his career and Jordan as well. Wilt and Russell as well

I try to avoid this, but here goes

in 1988, mj went 32-8-8, put up 200 steals, and accumulated 100 blocked shots ...that is considered, by most, the greatest statistical season off all time.

Now, here is something that most people don't know....get ready

please get ready

in the last 16 games of the 1988 season, jordan recorded 11 triple-doubles, and seven of them were in a row.....again he recorded 7 straight triple-doubles out of 11 triple-doubles in 16 games.

When lebron's career is over, jordan will still be GOAT

2127305, that's all nice and dandy, however who says Lebron
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Wed Feb-06-13 09:25 PM
won't match that? heck the BIG O Oscar Robertson will tell you that Lebron is already on his own island.

bottom line Bron got crazy stats, got Jewelry and will get more, MVP's Gold Metals,etc... i mean even Jordan's HomeBoy Charles Oakley didn't laugh when asked about Bron versus Jordan.

Bron is a once in a generation freak of nature.

scary to think what else he can do in the next 5-6 years and lets remember he been consistant since day one, you can't compare no other direct from high school player to him at all.

numbers don't lie.

he took Mike DOO DOO Brown and that Bow wow team in cleveland to the finals lets remember,

as good as he is right now, by PER, peak era jordan was a little better

but he needs at LEAST 3 more titles before we can talk about it, and that ain't easy.

Consecutive games with a triple-double: 7, March 25, 1989 to April 6, 1989†
Jordan recorded a triple-double in 10 of 11 games during this stretch. He fell just short in the one game, (which would have given him 11 consecutive triple-doubles) with a double-double effort of 40 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds.
Wilt Chamberlain holds the record with 9 straight triple-doubles. Oscar Robertson also had seven in a row

lebron can't even get those numbers in a watered down league. ...lebron is no way on that list and never will be...

greatest all around players...in that order

oscar - 25/9/7
magic - 19/11/7
wilt- 30/4/22
jordan - 30/5/6
bird - 24/6/10 ( was white..c'mon)
lebron - 27/6/7 ( watered down era)
pippen - 16/5/6
kidd - 12/8/6

2127040, league is much, much better now than when jordan was winning titles
Posted by bshelly, Wed Feb-06-13 02:57 PM
what, you think those patrick ewing knicks teams and malone/stockton jazz teams were world beaters?
2127051, RE: league is much, much better now than when jordan was winning titles
Posted by all stah, Wed Feb-06-13 03:15 PM
what?

are you kidding me?...

This is a league of flopping, no hand-checking is allowed, defensive 3 second rule where a player can't sit in the paint, and the majority of the teams in the nba are just flat out terrible.

Does lebron have to go up against pat riley's knicks, or pat riley's heat team, or the bad boys of detroit?...the rockets with hakeem?

No.

You have to be kidding me. The overall competition in the NBA is flat out atrocious. Teams are more focused on getting out in transition and playing the 3 ball more than they are about playing meaningful offense. Too many players are getting easy baskets in this day and age. We saw how jordan murked players at the age of 40 in the early part of the Millennium, so imagine what he would be able to do in this era if he were playing as a player in his prime.

this is the low basketball IQ era...clearly

2127178, RE: league is much, much better now than when jordan was winning titles
Posted by COOLEHMAGAZINE, Wed Feb-06-13 06:02 PM
Jordan is still better than Lebron but this "watered down league" theory is questionable.

Teams played rougher but that does not mean they were more skilled.

That Trailblazers team Jordan beat for #2, for example, is not better than last years OKC team.

It's more of a debate of how much they fouling they let you get away with on defense.

By what metric?

That Blazers team was up 15 points going into the 4th Quarter of Game 6 on the road. And that was the third consecutive year that they were in serious contention. They were easily better than the Lakers team that Jordan beat for #1--the Lakers beating the Blazers in 91 was an upset--and as good as any team that Jordan's Bulls ever beat.

What exactly did OKC do to justify what your position?

I'm a fan of those Blazers teams and the ones that followed. I am not sure what you are so angry about here:

Should I have picked a team other than the Blazers? Frankly I thought the Sonics team the year after was a little better but that's highly debateable. Utah was pretty damn good too. They were all good teams.

I agree that Blazers shoulda beat the Lakers. Fucking Jerome Kersey.

Or are do you just think there is a huge gulf between that Blazers team and last years OKC squad?

If you do, we just disagree. I think that OKC team was pretty incredible. Their run through the Western Conference playoffs was amazing, they played hardnose D, had great scorers, complimentary pieces and were very well coached.

I do not feel bad at all saying they were somewhat comparable to the early 90s Blazers or any other team Jordan beat.

2129380, Last years OKC squad were a bunch of jumpshooters that got exposed....

This Heat team would get worked by Ewing's Knicks
And Drexler's Blazers
And Kemp's Sonics
And Barkley's Suns

Let's not get it twisted, this team is the Champs, but to say this team is better than some of the teams Jordan beat is insane

Truth be told, I'm not sure this Heat team beats the "JailBlazers" with Stoudamire, Sheed, Smith and Pippen
2127196, The Tarpley/Blackmon/Aguirre/Donaldson/Harper Mavs

would take them 7 games.

You think that Blazers team was MUCH better than OKC?

I liked that team and I don't.

K. Perkins vs Duckworth= Different flawed players. Perkins is tougher, better rebounder, better defender, Duckworth has a much better offensive game. A push (although in my heart I know Duckworth would completely fail against a physical player like Perkins)

B. Williams vs. Ibaka= Honestly...Ibaka IMO but a push is acceptable too.

Durant vs J. Kersey= LOL

Sefalosha vs Drexler= LOL

Westbrook vs T. Porter= a push

Bench:

Danny Ainge
Cliff Robinson
Alaa Abdelnaby

vs

James Harden
Nick Collison
Derek Fisher
Daquan Cook

I'd give the bench to Portland, but not by a mile or anything.
2129277, Fuck all the way off with this shit.

Go jerk off to a feelgood story about the Thunder on ESPN.

Nice argument. You list names side by side and that's supposed to explain something?

You name-dropped Alaa Abdelnaby. Clearly you did not watch that team play.
2129365, RE: Fuck all the way off with this shit.

I was a huge fan of that and many other Blazer teams though and watched a ton of their games. Long time Portland fan.

You are clearly foaming at the mouth mad though, not sure why.

If you think that Blazers team was FAR, FAR superior to OKC then I would have to disagree and would be curious as to your reasoning.

If you are just going to curse and namecall, don't bother.
