2123860, So we've devolved into having fun off dude's season ending injuries now?
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Fri Feb-01-13 04:08 PM
2123864, that's one way to look at my subject line, i guess
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Feb-01-13 04:13 PM
but, i just feel like a few GMs and docs have been justified in their reasons for passing and i can just imagine them muttering "see? told ya"

not in a partying way...just a "see? yold ya" way
2123889, definitely sounded like partying
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Feb-01-13 04:31 PM
2123896, well, i can't help what it seems like...
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Feb-01-13 04:37 PM
GMs got fried for passing on him, like an injustice was done. turns out they were justified. i'm just saying i know a lot of them are being i told you so types right now.

i mean, there is a way to descern if i was "partying" based on my past comments about sulliger.

oh, i never said anything remotely negative about him? oh well. that settles that.

2123863, Ba just mad as fuck about Dookies being garbage
Posted by The Mac, Fri Feb-01-13 04:13 PM
2123867, this a parody post?
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Feb-01-13 04:14 PM
whatever...let's not derail this
2123862, yikes on route to being one of the worst teams in the league
Posted by southphillyman, Fri Feb-01-13 04:12 PM
in another year or two
2123892, Hopefully.
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri Feb-01-13 04:33 PM
Give Pierce and KG one more run and blow it up, go for a top pick in 2014 and complete rebuild. Sully was never a piece to build around anyway. C's need to start over completely once the Big Three are done. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to moving Rondo.
2123898, Flag on the play...BULLSHIT...5 yard penalty!

> Sully was never a piece to
>build around anyway.

If that's the case then why draft him? Maybe not "around" him because they wanna build around Rondo, but they surely thought he was a piece.
2123901, you don't build around a piece, you build around a *centerpiece*
Posted by KosherSam, Fri Feb-01-13 04:45 PM
that's where the *center* in centerpiece comes from. They are the center of what you're building. everything else surrounds them.
2123905, Reading is optional huh?
Posted by subjctmattr, Fri Feb-01-13 04:49 PM
Go back and read my post...

the part that says, maybe not "around" but they surely thought he was a piece.

You just gonna completely ignore that huh?
2123912, Man he was a piece. You just don't throw 1st round picks away.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Fri Feb-01-13 04:59 PM
They was planning on using him and making him a part of the core as much as Rondo, Jeff Green, and Bradley is.

That's why everyone was raving about him in the pre-season.

2123978, why are you complaining about people not reading?
Posted by rob, Fri Feb-01-13 07:48 PM
the first piece post said "around"....he's not a piece to build around, which is what picks in the 20s tend to be...all nba players are "pieces"
2123922, Challenge Flag! Call REVERSED!

How can you challenge what I'm saying and then one sentence in agree with it? I never said he was a bum, I said he wans't someone you build around.

Whether Sullinger is healthy or injured shouldn't change the Celtics' future plans. Nobody thinks, "Shit, the C's wouldn't have skipped a beat when KG retired and Sully took his place. Now we're doomed!"

He was the 21st pick in the draft. He's a good player, fills some needs for the Celtics, but he's not a core piece that the C's future will rely upon. If the C's future Big Three includes Sullinger, we won't be a winning team. He's a nice 4th or 5th starter but not a top three option (and there's a big difference between the Top Three option and last starter spots.)
2123946, At Least Fab Melo's Healthy & Now Activated

2124123, Cuse baby! . . .oh, you were joking. . .
Posted by magilla vanilla, Fri Feb-01-13 11:37 PM
2123951, The C's should just call it a season, they won't but should
Posted by auragin_boi, Fri Feb-01-13 06:55 PM
...but even with max effort, they may miss the playoffs and that's the best thing for them this yr.

Get a top 13 pick (it's so much of a crapshoot right now, they might actually land the best pick around 9-13).

KG and Pierce should retire. They prolly won't...but should.

Let the rest of that bum ass roster rot until Rondo returns in December next season. Hopefully they're buried in the standings and by the time he gets his legs back it's too late.

Then miss the 'offs again. Get another top 13 pick (2014 should have a top heavy draft talent wise) get another piece and let the 2013 and 2014 picks grow with Rondo.

Hopefuly Sully has surgery and comes back close to the same player and melo develops then you got a nice young core/top 6 (including avery).

Eh...they'll fuck it up tho by trying to win. lol
2123954, Not now. They should blow it up this offseason.
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri Feb-01-13 07:01 PM
The problem is that we aren't really looking at great value in return for either of our vets and KG has a no trade clause. With everyone expecting the C's to blow it up, Ainge has little-to-no leverage and the fact that Pierce and KG could retire at any minutes doesn't help either. I'd rather give Pierce and KG one more shot at a run and get the 16th pick than deal him to move up a few spots.

But next season, I think they should gut the entire roster and go for the #1 pick 2014. Rebuilding with #9 - 14 picks is a surefire way to mediocrity.
2124047, Damn, what a bummer.
Posted by guru0509, Fri Feb-01-13 09:18 PM
Fuck

And you're a bum for reveling in this shit.

At least he wasn't stupid enough to throw away a career for some dumb motorcycle bullshit.

I didn't personally see anything malicious in The OP, people were taking shit about GMs who passed on him, of course they are probably feeling some vindication, or at least relief
2124081, whatever

Same greasy mouthed bum calling players "slave dolls", or cosigning some redneck's racist rant towards a black sports anchor, and I'm a meathead?

Posted by guru0509, Sat Feb-02-13 09:24 AM
You brought up valid points & pointed out blatant hypocrisy when defending him from those PTP dorks, and I acknowledged that. Good job.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Believe me, I'm not mad over you being right regarding his back issues.

I was mad that he's out for the season.

Slight difference.

I couldn't care less about your 10 million different draft stock agendas.

2124178, dogg...***I*** wasn't right about ANYTHING...this about the GMs who passed
Posted by Basaglia, Sat Feb-02-13 09:50 AM
that's it. there's nothing else at play here. i know it's a sensitive thing when a fave player get hurt, but in no way was i "PARTYING"...like i said, that's just feelings. this wasn't no blantant ass hate like j-will mspaint motorcycle crash pictures, dogg.

finally, if i had a history of hatin on sully, THEN i could understand y'all dudes calling foul. i don't even remotely have that. i've actually been pretty supportive of him since he was in HS.

so, from my perspective, all this outrage seems agenda-fied.
2124143, You really should just own that you were partying.
Posted by Ryan M, Sat Feb-02-13 01:32 AM
Bad taste. It's okay we all do it.
2124182, what would be the motive for me partying on jared sullinger, dogg?
Posted by Basaglia, Sat Feb-02-13 09:54 AM
when i saw the news about his back, i thought "damn, all those teams were right...i know them GMs feel vindicated."
