2123926, The Thunder's challenge hasn't started yet

Yes, my comment was oversimplified but the Cavs are a great example of how getting a superstar makes a difference. The Cavs were one of the worst run teams in basketball and still made the NBA Finals because of LeBron.

Swap out Kevin Durant and Rudy Gay and suddenly the Grizzlies' front office are geniuses and the Thunder are dealing with Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka and trying to make ends meet while being more than an also-ran.

The Thunder have obviously draft well but when the front office will really earn their money is in a couple of years when Durant, Ibaka, and Westbrook are eating up 5/6's of the salary cap. Will they be able to afford all three guys and fill out the roster? As it stands, they already can't afford Perkins's overpaid contract and might amnesty him. Thabeet is a bum and will never be anything more than a guy who can eat a few minutes here and there.

The Thunder have obviously drafted well and done better at building a team than the Cavs did but they'll have issues when KD comes due for his next contract as well.
