Kobe's PER for his career is 23.44.
Melo's PER for his career is 20.62.
Gay's PER for his career is 16.1.
While their FG% numbers are close, their true shooting percentages are notably different.
Kobe: .555
Melo: .545
Gay: .526
If you do or don't believe in win share, know that Kobe and Melo unsurprisingly beat Gay in that stat as well.
Even if you don't believe in advanced stats, the fact that for their careers, Melo and Kobe plays similar minutes to Gay and shoot similar FG% to Gay... but score a notable amount of more points than Gay... says something on its own.
