http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baltimore-sports-blog/bal-anna-burns-welker-wes-welker-wife-ray-lewis-critical-facebook-page-0121,0,5768158.story Wes Welker's wife critical of Ray Lewis on her Facebook page The Baltimore Sun 1:57 p.m. EST, January 21, 2013
Anna Burns Welker, wife of New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, posted some not-so-nice things about Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis on her Facebook page after last night's AFC championship game, according to a post on TheBigLead.com today.
On her Facebook page Sunday night, Burns Welker said: "Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!"
Welker had eight catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 28-13 victory, but he dropped a critical third-down pass in the third quarter when the Patriots led, 13-7. The Ravens scored the game's final 21 points to clinch their second Super Bowl appearance in team history.

2116876, cism? Yep...cism... Posted by jimaveli, Tue Jan-22-13 12:12 AM
All about the cism...'my White ass Patriots lost to the Colored Convicts Express'. Folks would say that if they had real guts. But they don't...
I get into this with white cats at work all the time. A few of them have said things like...'I don't like the Ravens...I just don't know why'. My immediate reply: 'It is because the main players on the team are black as hell black dudes. No Kobes. No MJs. No Tigers. Just semi-menacing-looking black dudes...talking loud, dancing, preaching, cussing, not shaving, etc, etc...y'all haven't grown up around that. Y'all don't know anybody like that. And anybody you've seen like that was on a TV show as a goon...'
Just like that...no filters. No sugar. No nothing. I say it to them just like that. At first, there were laughs and denials. Eventually though..there was lowkey admitting that I was spot-on. When they still want to argue, they go to Ray dropping sermons, being overtly emotional, the incident years ago, etc.
I'll admit that I give Ray the side-eye from time to time, but hell...who am I kidding...I know Ed Reeds and Ray Rays...I'm from Houston...somewhere in the middle between South Park and Woodlands Houston. Acres Homes. My family on both sides are from country town-Louisiana. My extended family of friends are from small-town Louisiana, Tyler, New Orleans, Arkansas, and the Sipp. Clearly, I know some southern, country, black as hell negroes. And even I think 'c'mon Ray...quit dancing mane', so I can only imagine what white ass white people think when they see husky, dark, and mean-looking black dudes hugging extensively, talking loud, crying, randomly cussing, praying, preaching and dancing on national TV. They are probably terrified and turned off! It isn't the cleancut, humble guys with the 'awww shucks' face, 'I couldn't do without the guys' then walk-off, high-fives, whoooooo!, Tecmo Super Bowl-style celebration. I'd rather that be admitted than mofos acting like they care about some 10+ year ago incident where folks can't even tell you the details after they bring it up ('Well...didn't that guy kill somebody?'), marital statuses, # of kids, etc, etc. But folks don't have the sack to admit that in public. Maybe they don't even understand how off they are because they are rolling with the 'lowkey cism' program. *Ray Lewis dance*
Jimaveli: Oh...and athlete families, friends, and freaks need to STFU in general.

written off to divisional rivalry/hate/etc?
To be clear, I'm not one of them square-hat wearing cats who are dying to jump up from behind a bush and holler out 'cism every time anything happens. But when I see it or anything like it, I'ma damn well say it. Hell...its OKP and I'm a random negro with a keyboard. I'd be a bitch if I didn't AT LEAST say it here. My facebook is pictures of me, my girl, and the youngin goofing off around town. This ain't that though...
And yes...some of it could be written off as the Ravens story being a rough sell...'errbody play harder and better when Rev. Ray shows up to play and preaches a sermon, dances in situations where dancing is abnormal, and talks in a threatening type of loud whisper about weapons, mountains, god, and men'. Like that 'your mama telling you to sit down in church' voice. It is all abnormal to most people. It is also that 'leave the door open so folks can see' Southern blackness that is seldom seen in these situations. Some folks call it ghetto because they don't know where else to file it.
Whatever it is, seeing it IS jarring and yes, in some cases, a little bit on the extra side. And folks are going to feel some kinda way about it. I like it BECAUSE it is jarring. It breaks up the typical Madden 2013-style celebrations and the clean cut, and in many cases, 'fake' story that these leagues tell us about these players/teams/organizations. It breaks up the cliche. It is sloppy. It is enjoyable to me BECAUSE it isn't marketable, so it is at least a little more honest to me EVEN WHEN Ray goes into extra mode. And it is something that we won't see every year because there's only so many teams in sports like the Ravens.
It reminds me of early Wu Tang...just a bunch of sloppy but talented as hell dudes doing their thing whether the camera is on or not. Sure, they had their Rays who hammed it up too, but it was the same type of thing to me.

2116980, And here's the apology... (swipe) Posted by kennymack, Tue Jan-22-13 01:43 AM

Wes Welker's wife apologizes Updated: January 21, 2013, 8:26 PM ET
Last year, Tom Brady's wife had some harsh words following the conclusion of the New England Patriots' season, this year it's the wife of wide receiver Wes Welker that is making news.
Welker's wife, Anna Burns Welker, took to social media site Facebook to take a few shots at Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis on Sunday night after the Patriots' 28-13 loss to the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.
"Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!" Burns Welker said in a since-deleted post on her personal Facebook page.
Burns Welker released a statement to sports blog Larry Brown Sports apologizing for her remarks:
"I'm deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook. I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday's game.
"It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams."
Wes Welker led the Patriots in receiving Sunday with 117 yards and a touchdown on eight catches in the loss, but could have played his last game for New England as he is set to become a free agent this offseason.
Lewis, who announced weeks ago that he would retire at the conclusion of Baltimore's season, led all players with 14 tackles.

I don't even think she wrote that 'apology'. I'm far more comfortable assuming she wrote the original thing and said far worse offline or in emails. And again, the real apology should be something like 'I'm sorry that I got caught still not liking black people. I know I'm supposed to put on a better show. But hey...I don't know any of them who are like like Ray and those guys, so they make me uncomfortable. I thought I could get by with fake-supporting Obama's existence and buying Rihanna singles. My bad. But really...aren't you tired of them too?'
