2111282, I'm gonna drive 9 hours to Hotlanta next week. (9ers v Falcons) pre-shit talking
Posted by josephmurf2384, Mon Jan-14-13 01:48 AM
My dads down in SC and we are gonna get tickets i think. I rooted for the Skins in the wild card he is gonna pay it back in the NFC championship. Lets get it popping SF 28 ATL 17.
2111316, ATL better spend the week working on defense.
Posted by smutsboy, Mon Jan-14-13 09:06 AM
That secondary got shredded by a bunch of average WR talent.
2111317, it was that dern TE more than the WRs
Posted by CherNic, Mon Jan-14-13 09:08 AM
still....the defense was a complete shittastrophy in the 2nd half, and the offenses sputtered like a mofo too
2111320, They got shredded by one guy, #86
Posted by ne_atl, Mon Jan-14-13 09:22 AM
other than that, they played well. On many occasions Russel Wilson was sitting back there with great protection and no one to throw to.
2111339, Kinda
Posted by smutsboy, Mon Jan-14-13 10:20 AM
He still threw for 385, with 243 going to other WRs.
2111688, I will always hate the word "threw" when it comes to QB stats
Posted by ne_atl, Mon Jan-14-13 06:45 PM
That goes for Matt Ryan and all QBs today and in the past.

Russell got out of a lot of jams by dumping off to near by WRs who gained a ton of YAC yards. When I saw his stats after the game I was puzzled until I saw the game again. His biggest throws were to the TE.
2111391, on Sunday, I'm attending a tradeshow at the convention center next door
Posted by KosherSam, Mon Jan-14-13 11:46 AM
that's gonna be crazy.

plus, the game is at 2, and the show ends at 5, so getting out is gonna be even worse.
2111408, Word let me know if you wanna get a beer or something
Posted by josephmurf2384, Mon Jan-14-13 12:03 PM
not really sure what my plans is since i am not familiar with the city at all.
2111439, Also a girls volleyball tournament at the GWCC.
Posted by B9, Mon Jan-14-13 12:37 PM

Good luck!
2111499, high school or college?
Posted by KosherSam, Mon Jan-14-13 01:30 PM

2111569, High school, at the GWCC, too.

2111502, I'm in the hotel across the street, won't need transpo.

2111454, How has Atlanta's defense fared against Cam?
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 12:58 PM
2111474, Mixed bag
Posted by B9, Mon Jan-14-13 01:16 PM
Pretty much shut down last year, but two solid games this year. The week 13 games almost doesn't count given nobody apparently wanted to show up that day. It was an unusually bad Falcons performance.
I'm surprised Wilson didn't try to scramble more yesterday. That's where the gaps normally are on the ultra conservative pass protection looks.
2111483, Ok, I think we will probably decoy the run a lot Sunday...
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 01:21 PM
but if yall are giving it, im sure he'll take it
2111492, RE: How has Atlanta's defense fared against Cam?
Posted by OldPro, Mon Jan-14-13 01:28 PM
9-86 1 TD longest run 32
9-116 1 TD longest run 72

They held RG3 to 1-7 but I'm pretty sure he got hurt if I remember correctly

2111512, That may present problems for them
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 01:35 PM
2111521, I think Gore & James are going to be the ones
Posted by OldPro, Mon Jan-14-13 01:44 PM
ATL is going to spend so much time on CK (and rightfully so) it's going to create some real opportunities for our backs.

2111577, lol damn, I forgot all about Tim Rattay. Had big hopes for him
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 02:56 PM
2111578, my man, don't sleep on the legendary....
Posted by Flash80, Mon Jan-14-13 02:57 PM
GIOVANNI CARMAZZI

like, dude was drafted ahead of tom brady.

...speaking of that draft, i thought tim rattay woulda been fine with some decent people around him here (like the flashes we saw in '03).
2111583, The beginning of the '04 season, I thought Rattay was gonna be it.
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 03:11 PM
2111584, He never started a game though did he?
Posted by OldPro, Mon Jan-14-13 03:11 PM
But yeah I remember sitting out in the heat with my pops when the 9ers trained in Rocklin watching dude struggle to complete two passes in a row

2111589, 03 or 04...
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 03:18 PM
one of those years he starting the season with something like a 5-1 td/int ratio
2111607, i think OP's referring to carmazzi. he never saw the field.
Posted by Flash80, Mon Jan-14-13 03:38 PM
terry donahue had run off all the pro bowlers...T.O., derrick deese, jeremy newberry, ron stone (meanwhile dumping all that money into kevin barlow), so rattay had nobody around him going into '04.
2111700, Yep

2111545, they couldn't even stop Zack Miller man wtf lol
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-14-13 02:19 PM
VD must be creaming in his jock strap right now as we speak
2111556, is the "watch out for Vernon Davis" narrative played out yet?
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-14-13 02:28 PM
I've wrote a chapter or two myself, but this is a guy who's averaged 15 yards per game since week 12. obviously he's one of the most talented players in the NFL (and always factors in with his blocking), but it seems like every game is "finally the week VD goes off."

maybe Roman is saving him for the Super Bowl.
2111570, Thank you.
Posted by Ceej, Mon Jan-14-13 02:46 PM
I remember someone tryin to blame Alex Smith for his nothingness.....how's that working out??
2111582, The irony is that his playoff run with Alex is what really put him on
Posted by Beamer6178, Mon Jan-14-13 03:11 PM
>I remember someone tryin to blame Alex Smith for his

2111592, He gets doubled ALL THE TIME. He's a perfect decoy...
Posted by the_time_is_when_god...lounge, Mon Jan-14-13 03:20 PM
and when they don't double him he gets off.
2111600, lol nothingness?? u a disgruntled fantasy football owner?
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-14-13 03:31 PM
2111586, in last year's playoffs as option ONLY, he got loose
Posted by Beamer6178, Mon Jan-14-13 03:17 PM

with more weapons now, he'd seemingly be getting loose more often. go figure.
2111603, his chemistry with kaep is still building

he was Alex Smith's go-to WR most of the time when our offense was limited to run first and short passes

but Kaep, with his stronger arm, does a better job spreading the ball around ... VD naturally aint gonna get as many touches

granted, I didn't realize his numbers had fallen off that much, but I'm fine with him being a decoy for those double teams

2111699, GB still doubled him for a good deal of the game
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Jan-14-13 07:06 PM
I figured they were gonna put two people on Crabtree for sure, but VD still got the doubles.

Shoot, Kaep's pick-6 was him try to throw to Davis while he was being double covered. He wanted to throw to Crabtree, but slipped running his route, so Kaep tried to force it to VD and got picked.
2111704, Yep VD still drawing a lot of attention
Posted by OldPro, Mon Jan-14-13 07:12 PM
On the first TD to Crabtree they had 3 defenders bracketing Davis. At some point you'd have to think the focus is going to turn to Crabtree... I'm kinda expecting to see Vernon get loose next Sunday.
