Lakers will be able to run with us for awhile with their small team, but if we keep running and limit mistakes, we should be able to run past them.

In its exploration to sign a big man, the Miami Heat will work out ex-Denver Nuggets center Chris Andersen, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Andersen, famously known as "The Birdman," arrived in Miami on Monday for a physical and workouts over the next two days with the defending NBA champions, sources said.

Heat president Pat Riley has been scouring the landscape to bolster a foundering frontcourt bench and appears to be intrigued with the possibility of discovering how much Andersen, 34, has left in his game.

The Heat released center Josh Harrellson on Monday and now have two open roster spots.



At his best, Andersen, who is 6-foot-10, was one of the NBA's most active and relentless bench contributors. His array of tattoos – covering him head to toe – helped make him one of the league's most popular characters.

Andersen played 32 games for the Nuggets last season, and ultimately was waived in July using the NBA's amnesty clause. He's played parts of 10 seasons with Denver, New Orleans/Oklahoma City.

After a two-year ban for violating the NBA's drug policies between 2006 and 2008, Andersen had a terrific second act in the NBA, most notably as a key reserve on the Carmelo Anthony-led Nuggets.

Sources tell Yahoo! Sports that the Knicks are showing interest in free agent PF Kenyon Martin.
Rasheed Wallace's foot injury continues to linger, so the Knicks are looking for another washed up defensive specialist. Martin has been on the street all season even though he's let it be known he'll play for the veteran minimum.

We are way too slow in transition D w two 7 footers and then Pau has his feet stuck in concrete on defensive rotations as well. Replace this dude with two energetic cats and it changes the entire composition of the team.

Does he get calls? Sure. Sometimes he doesn't. We have the benefit of replay. Same thing I said about wade before he became more of a jump shooter. You go to the hole that aggressively, that often, you'll get the benefit of the doubt and get calls. Too bad most guys find that jump shot and forget how to do it. Hope James never really gets a wet jump shot.

yea when he makes a jumpshot or two his confidence goes up and he attacks the rim with abandon. His turnovers have gone up the past 2 weeks. He's taking too many risks with the ball. Sometimes its guys dropping passes, but as pg he has to know which guys he can give the ball to in which situations--so thats still on him to some extent.

He's hands down the best outlet passing pg in the league but easily the worst post entry passing pg in the league. Dude puts so much air on his post entry passes that a defender ALWAYS at least gets a hand on it. Shit is atrocious.

Wanna talk about his on the ball defense though.He plays solid/good d every night and challenges shots. When he gets beat he works hard to recover. Even that night Kyrie went off, I thought he did a good job of making Kyrie work to get the shots off.

2 things Avery needs to fix if he ever wants to be a successful NBA coach again are getting along with PG's by giving them more freedom and actually being able to coach anyone under 28 years old and instilling confidence in young players... 2 things he has failed miserably at it...
