not looking good for the texans. but i think this is a good matchup for them, and they should still be able to pull out the win.

can't wait to see all the bengals "fans" out in their houshmandzadeh jerseys today!

Bengals win if they get pressure on Schaub and contain Foster. If not, it will be a repeat of last years playoff game.

2103752, wrong about the qbs...
Posted by jimaveli, Sat Jan-05-13 05:35 PM
right about the whole 'they are losing in the next round anyways' things. Only Rev. Ray's Farewell Tour can beat NE or DEN in the divisional round. And they gotta get by Chuck and Luck tmrw which isn't nearly as in the bag as folks are thinking it is.

The real problem with the Bengals and Texans is coaching. They both wanna lay on the ball the whole game.
2103765, which of these QB's is good?
Posted by Bombastic, Sat Jan-05-13 05:54 PM
2103780, Schaub...kinda...
Posted by jimaveli, Sat Jan-05-13 06:24 PM
He shortarms long passes and jitterbugs short passes SOMETIMES, but he is solid...boring as hell, not really dynamic, but solid. And when the funk hits the fan, at least he'll 'safely force it' to his primary targets. That's the big difference between him and Dalton right now. Dalton just takes off scrambling. If 'good' is top 10, I'd say Schaub is barely in there (*). And the Texans don't ask a lot of him.

* Rodgers, Brady, Old Man Manning, Brees, Big Ben, Luck, Good Eli, RGIII, The Power (Russell Wilson), Schaub, Tony (yeah...that Tony), Best Day Rivers, etc...

and isn't even outplaying his third-string teammate's performance in the playoffs against the same team last year, is still the clear better performer at the position today.

With that said I'll stick with my original statement.

Posted by jimaveli, Sat Jan-05-13 05:50 PM
Pettigrew is at home saying 'damn...dude be dropping a lot of passes!'.

I'd rather Dalton go out slangin to Green than to watch him lay on the ball, throw lame screens to Law Firm, and forcefeed no-catching ass Gresham.

2103769, Gruden's playcalling has sucked today
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Jan-05-13 05:59 PM
They need to get AJ involved and they should be running BJGE a lot more. Very fortunate to only be down 2 right now.

From November on in the NFL, I feel strongly that RBs who can run straight with a funny look on his face is something to treasure. This is Law Firm's reason for existence and they refuse to commit to it. Jay is killing me.

I'm a closet fan of both of these teams, but I hate their playcalling and lack of execution in many cases.

I picked the Texans to win this because of my lack of trust of Dalton to pull the trigger to AJ and Jay's flaky playcalling. Looking okay so far.

2103788, man I really don't want Jay Gruden in Philly, I'd take Zimmer over him
Posted by Bombastic, Sat Jan-05-13 06:37 PM
I have no idea what this dude has to offer besides a familiar name & a pedestrian offensive coordinator history.
2103826, Please take him...please
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Jan-05-13 07:33 PM
fucking awful play calling by Gruden.
2103770, we should be winning by 21.
Posted by Binlahab, Sat Jan-05-13 06:01 PM
our offensive execution is atrocious.

our defense once again is performing out of their minds

if cincy figures out they can run on us...it will get ugly

2103772, Seems like ever since Sanu got hurt....shit been a lot harder for
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Sat Jan-05-13 06:02 PM
Dalton..

Sanu was the perfect playmaker to go with Green..just brought an extra excitement to their offense. These other guys are nice, but they aren't playing to the level Sanu was...

2103776, Agreed.
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Jan-05-13 06:10 PM
#2 option is now Stone Hands Gresham. Andrew Hawkins hasn't been pretty invisible since he returned from injury.

BJGE has 43 yards on 3 carries. Really don't understand why he only has 3 carries.
2103778, same thing I don't like about the Falcons offense...
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Sat Jan-05-13 06:14 PM
when your big RB is doing that..

KEEP GIVING HIM THE BALL...

particularly in the red zone...

the team that can run the ball in the red zone is gonna win the game in todays NFL...

the Bengals and the Falcons and a couple other teams are so set on their spead offense passing that when they avoid running the ball...even when their running game is working...

the Bengals O-Line is not protecting well on the pass....
2103782, Dalton looking like Matt Ryan vs the Giants last year. Goodness

2103811, game is wack as shit.
Posted by southphillyman, Sat Jan-05-13 07:07 PM
texans have to be one of (if not) the most underwhelming "elite" teams in the league
eagles are probably the other one lol, but hopefully that will change soon

btw never knew schaub wack ass was from philly
2103821, Dalton left 3 tds on the field to Green today
Posted by rjc27, Sat Jan-05-13 07:31 PM
bad throws everytime
2103822, fuck Jay Gruden and fuck Andy Dalton
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Jan-05-13 07:31 PM
3rd down had AJ WIIIIIIDE open and overthrows him. 4th down Gruden calls a 7 yard slant on 4th and 11.

Philadelphia, please hire Jay Gruden as your next head coach.
2103825, gruden had green in 1 on 1's enough today for cinncy to win
Posted by rjc27, Sat Jan-05-13 07:33 PM
aint on him, that playcall im sure isnt daltons on option
2103836, That 4th down playcall was garbage
Posted by jorge123, Sat Jan-05-13 07:41 PM
Cmon dude...Other teams' fans are watching this game and would kill for a receiver like Green. It's 4th down with the game on the line and you don't throw him the ball? He didn't even seem that well covered.

I like the playcall. It was a nice route combo to get Green open on the out but the pressure came. Dalton didn't have time to wait to 'see it become open' before throwing it, so he saw the pressure, said 'oh shit', and hot potato'd the rock towards the Tecmo Bowl slant...for < 1st down yardage. It happens. Most QBs don't have the sack to make anticipation throws on the reg. Missing the deep throw to Green over the top was the real killer. To me, the deep ball is what makes questionable/young QBs startable in the NFL nowadays. If Dalton can't hit that, he shouldn't be starting.

After seeing a lot of Cincy games, Dalton is a mess at times. They needs real weapons like a squirrelly change of pace back (who is better than Bernard Scott) to go with Law Firm so that at least Cincy's offense wouldn't die when Jay gets bored of effectively running the ball with Law Firm or the opponent sticks a safety over the top for Green.

is such a hot head coach prospect right now
maybe they've been awesome the other 15 games?
looks like they were in the bottom half of the league for YPG
2103846, its based solely on his last name
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Jan-05-13 07:59 PM
his play calling is trash. Makes no sense why he is a hotter head coaching candidate than Mike Zimmer.
2103843, Brady licking his chops @ D. Manning
