im not even getting into the wrongness of that letter...there's not much to debate about that. an extremely immature person wrote that letter with the intent to get a rise out of people and I guess he/she succeed.

When I'm watching football with friends we're rarely giving a fuck about the sideline reporter but anytime she pops up comments are always made. Because she's THAT jarring and uncomfortably awkward. She mumbles. She has no confidence. She has no presence whatsoever.

There's no conceivable way that a television producer reviewing 1000's of audition reels would come away with Jemele being their finest choice of the lot.

We can do our best to twist this into some sort of racial thing or just let reality prevail and admit that she's terrible.

edit to add: When I say she looks "stupid" I'm not inferring about her IQ. Merely stating it's stupid to have her reporting in front of a camera because she sucks at that task.

she was so noticeably awful that I googled her and saw that she was a writer. seemed like a weird career step.

Totally get it. I threw out a shitty comment wherein I overestimated my sense of humor and my "black" card. I been posting here for a long time and if that comment can make some dudes question how "black" I am, given my posting history on racial shit, I respect dudes enough to pull back and evaluate what I said and the context. I don't support anyone doing dumb shit with casting, which is why non-actors like India Arie being suggested by people who don't give a fuck about filmmaking annoyed me and I went hard in the thread.
