2102086, Big East Basketball 2013: Going through the motions Posted by HowieDooem, Wed Jan-02-13 03:00 PM
We're heading into the last 3 months of the conference as we know it... and I'm somewhere between depression and acceptance. But, if you can strip away all of the conference realignment context, there is still a really fun basketball league to watch, albeit one without the depth we're used to seeing. Here are my guesses as to how everything will end up:
NCAA Teams:
1. Louisville 2. Syracuse 3. Georgetown 4. Cincinnati 5. Fuck Notre Dame 6. Pitt
Bubble: 7. Marquette
Would-be bubble: 8. UConn
No clue: 9. Seton Hall 10. South Florida 11. St. John's 12. Rutgers 13. Villanova 14. DePaul 15. Providence

The powers that be want to destroy a basketball league over football money, fuck 'em.

The Hoyas have a young team. They play lock down defense the only problem is they are so young and inconsistent they hit dry spells offensively.
Fun team to watch though.

2103724, Marquette-Hoyas: So damn unpretty Posted by HowieDooem, Sat Jan-05-13 04:26 PM
Hopefully both teams add some shooting before the parochial league takes effect, since this is going to be the marquee game every year.

2103817, Marquette's in similar shape this year Posted by HowieDooem, Sat Jan-05-13 07:15 PM
Zones are a particularly tough nut for MU to crack. Part of that is that the outside shooting is pretty poor. Also, the past few seasons they've had Jae Crowder, Jimmy Butler, and Lazar Hayward to work around the free throw line and break zones from the inside out. No one on this team has demonstrated that ability so far--Jamil Wilson had some success there today, but he's typically not super strong or decisive with the ball.

UConn stay bodying ND home winning streaks. can't believe that damn Cadougan buzzer beating 3 is what stands in b/w a 3-0 conference start.
