Shaun Livingston's line from that game:
7pts, 5 asst, 1 TO, W, -5, 22 minutes.
You can make a numerical argument to say anything you want.
|
2056886, Yet you can't make the numerical argument that Knicks-Lin=better Posted by B9, Thu Oct-25-12 08:35 AM

you still can't explain why the knicks are better off without a reasonably talented PG who would have been the second youngest player on the team who gets burn. resigning lin would have had zero effect on their cap, other than dolan paying more in luxury tax.
PLEASE EXPLAIN

BECAUSE THE POINT GUARD WE HAVE NOW IS BETTER THAN HIM. BECAUSE THE BACK UP POINT GUARD WE HAVE NOW IS BETTER THAN HIM. BECAUSE THE BACK UP BACK UP POINT GUARD WE HAVE NOW IS BETTER THAN HIM.
or maybe...
BECAUSE THE BACK UP POINT GUARD HOUSTON HAS IS BETTER THAN HIM. (Livingston) BECAUSE THE BACK UP BACK UP POINT GUARD HOUSTON HAS IS BETTER THAN HIM. (S. Machado)
and like I said before... He's not the best player on their team. He's not the best PG on their team He's not even the best player on their team with the first name Jeremy.
We're better of without him because he's simply not that fucking good!!
Is that clear enough of a reason why we're better off without him? now please leave me the fuck alone.
|
2056907, please, he will be the worst starting pg in the league this year Posted by Ill Jux, Thu Oct-25-12 08:53 AM
5 assist and 6 to's won't cut it over 82 games

2056918, this ain't need a separate post but dude has been horrible all preseason Posted by southphillyman, Thu Oct-25-12 09:00 AM
dude was the worst player on the floor in a game between the rockets and hornets think about that for a second i'm not expecting him to be THIS bad over 82 games but this is the type of inconsistency we are going see dude is a streaky gun with questionable handlers and D and is average athletically depending on how "up" the elite teams get when they play him we could see some brutal games

|
2056987, the larger point is what again? I asked you in the last post Posted by Cenario, Thu Oct-25-12 10:26 AM
what you thought he was and you refused to answer.
truth's larger point is that he doesn't belong getting minutes in the nba and he lost and continues to lose that like shit.
I think he'll be in the top half of starting pgs numbers wise, I said 17 & 7, low shooting %, low team wins.
subj thinks felton will be better and that lin won't be 'worth' his 5,5,15 contract Truth thinks he's not nba caliber
what do you think?
you can't dish out L's if you are too pet to state your opinion in the 1st place lol

If you don't state your position here, I'll just assume you getting your romney on or something.
What do you think he is?
simple question lol.
|
2057008, i ain't doing ur job for you, lol. and the 16 and 6 was me being NICE Posted by southphillyman, Thu Oct-25-12 11:06 AM
cause those are the type numbers someone might expect from jrue holiday or mike conley this year and that was NOT the type of projections yall were giving this dude and actually i got 16 and 6 from shawnslanted who said that's what he averaged doing the 2nd half of linsanity when ppl 1st started jumping off the wagon now yall running round comparing him to MLE players cause he makes $5mil this year lol comedy, the season ain't even start yet and yall positioning like a mug
|
2057011, yet you still refuse to state your position lol. Posted by Cenario, Thu Oct-25-12 11:08 AM
i changed all the way from 19 and 7 to 17 and 7 wooow huge dropoff.
i said he'd be in the top half of starting pgs that ain't change. don't know what you are talking bout.
you jus scared to state your position. do you.
edit: and that was a lin hater that started comparing him off salary, not us.
|
2057044, why are raw numbers even the yardstick, here? Posted by Guinness, Thu Oct-25-12 11:39 AM
that kind of simplistic shit would make someone think that ty lawson and brandon jennings are comparable.
|
2057061, that's not my yardstick...mine is simply that he's in the top half Posted by Cenario, Thu Oct-25-12 11:53 AM
of starting pgs and that the knicks still shoulda signed him.
No matter what he does, the knicks still shoulda signed him (from a fan's perspective) as those that understand the cap already know. If you care about dolan's wallet, then thats another story.
The 17 & 7 was just my projection, but i ain't claiming no W's or L's off it cause the team'll still suck
SPM has no yardstick whatsoever.
|
2057073, i think the rox will be okay. Posted by Guinness, Thu Oct-25-12 12:00 PM
lin is decent, asik is good, martin is good, parson and patterson have potential and jones looks like a keeper.
but yeah, there was absolutely no reason for the knicks to let lin go, even if he's only average.

|
2057330, I thought in the other post the numbers were 18&8, I've dropped... Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Oct-25-12 08:37 PM
it down to 17&7 and you want to lower the bar further? lol
|
2057331, lol no. you will retire at 17 and 7 but according to spm, lin needs to do Posted by Cenario, Thu Oct-25-12 08:46 PM
At least 16&6 or else apparently he's a bum.
|
2057335, RE: lol no. you will retire at 17 and 7 but according to spm, lin needs to do Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Oct-25-12 08:53 PM
>At least 16&6 or else apparently he's a bum.
I don't think the 6 assists is an unreasonable number to expect from a starting PG, I think the points will be a lot tougher because he's not a very efficient scorer, plus if he's having defensive and turnover issues his time on the court maybe be limited.
|
2056990, Longo, you see how Shawn Cuban B'd this? Posted by Basaglia, Thu Oct-25-12 10:33 AM

dude has played a handful of games since a knee injury. also, houston is 4-2 in the preseason with the highest scoring offense. i'm not even a lin booster, but the idea that his numbers from pre-season are more telling than what he did last year is very weird.
|
2057020, He's going to have up and down games like this all year long Posted by icecold21, Thu Oct-25-12 11:13 AM
And he'll have enough good ones that everyone will stay on his dick.
If Tebow sucks as bad as he does and maintains his level of popularity, Lin will be just fine.

2061715, Im staying out of the agenda posting on Lin, ill say this Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Thu Nov-01-12 09:51 AM
Ive never shitted on Ray Felton all along in this. I think he is going to have a good season and I think when he's in shape he can be a pretty good pg. One thing I have stood by is even if the numbers are close between Jeremy and Ray, style of play is also a factor and I don't think Raymond Felton's style of play puts the same type of pressure on defenses that Jeremy's does. Boxscore watchers will say its all the same, but its not. Of course that agressive style comes at a cost which is higher turnover rate...but I think Jeremy's gonna surprise people in that department too (despite his 4 last night). He had 2 really stupid ones--one he just lost a dribble trying to give to Harden, and another really dumb one where he tried to go behind the back and switch hands, and do all kinds of stupid shit to beat Brandon Knight.
The other one was a questionable charge call, and then he got stripped from behind after he beat his man on another one.
The good thing is hes gonna get a lot of steals himself from his style of play.
Itll be fun to watch Harden and Lin grow together. I hope they can stay healthy.

2063539, i never said he sucks Posted by Ill Jux, Sat Nov-03-12 08:01 PM
he's a slightly above avg nba player
this post was more about the rockets thinking lin could a franchise level player
|
2063546, They gave him 8million a year along wit asik Posted by Cenario, Sat Nov-03-12 08:10 PM
Then made a trade for a franchise player.
What are you talking about?

|
2063567, What does that have to do with anything? Posted by Cenario, Sat Nov-03-12 08:24 PM
Lin got the same deal as Asik...and they were in position to sign two max guys(eventually), so at best Lin would tied for the third most important franchise player lol
You actin like they signed Lin and Asik and said this is our chip squad

just pointing out your dumb ass analysis.
If you look through my posts, I critique him just as much as I praise him. I just have to point out dumb ass analysis observations when I see it, and yes a big part of it is because I'm asian.
Youre wavering here. You say he's not that good, but also say he's not that bad. lol. Yet you made a whole post critiquing him after a preseason game.
End of the day people wanna cry about contract, and I may be in the minority here, but id rather pay Jeremy 5/5/15 over the next 3 years then pay Ty Lawson 14/14/14 over the next 3 or Jrue Holiday 12/12/12 over the next 3.
And Jeremy Lin cannot hold OJ Mayo's jock strap as a sg, but OJ is nowhere in his zip code as a point guard.

2063831, Jeremy is gonna be okay... Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Nov-04-12 08:11 AM
Saw some flashes tonight. He's still an elite pg in terms of getting to the basket. He's gotta continue to work on his finishing or drawing fouls down there though, but he showed flashes that he's getting there tonight. He had like three and 1s. That last one coulda been the game winner.
He's one of the best pgs in getting outlet passes up the court and creating easy basket for teamates.
He has to stay aggressive. Thats when he's best, but anyone expecting him to just be a mediocre to average pg is wrong.
|
2063836, he hits harden with at least one backdoor cut every game. Posted by Cenario, Sun Nov-04-12 08:31 AM

hes just a hop away from retiring you from OKS.
13 ppg (this one especially has nowhere to go but up... if for no other reason than he will be shooting more) 7 apg ...check 5.5 rebounds...bonus 3 steals ...bonus 3 turnovers
You're a dead man walking.

one thing in NY is that he was always attacking. He's not doing it in Houston. Not sure if that is the coaches or what. But he's shooting way too many 3's and not looking to break down defenses. He's not getting to the line.

I think it was a poor rotation Both guys went out on Chandler cause he was hot. Lin was shook. He kept blowing into his hands prior to that play. He didnt really want to take that shot. That was his second bad airball of the night.

2072143, I've seen him live 3 times this season. I miss Kyle Lowry. Posted by MistaGoodBar, Thu Nov-15-12 05:08 PM
Imagine Kyle and Beard in the backcourt. MY LORD, defenses would be shook.
Jeremy DOES NOT ATTACK. He's mad timid. He's timid against weaker pgs, how he gonna compete with the elite ones? Yet again, bad move by Darryl Morey. Great swindle by Jeremy.
|
2072147, Attacking is his greatest stregnth. The fact that he isn't even trying Posted by Cenario, Thu Nov-15-12 05:11 PM
Makes me believe he's playing how the coaches want him to.
|
2072148, Morey paid MORE money for a WORSE pg, lol Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-15-12 05:13 PM
|
2072181, Kyle Lowry is definitely better right today Posted by Shmuley Boteach, Thu Nov-15-12 06:04 PM
but remember Kyle had time to mature into that role last year where he really exploded. Lin's not done developing. Once he's moved out of the corner spotting up, his offense will be fine. I mean everything else about his game is fine. Ive really liked the way hes gotten the ball up in transition.
And the most important part of all this. The pick we got in the Lowry deal is a major part of what landed us Harden, we couldnt have had both Lowry and Harden...its nice to imagine though.

2077126, Toney Douglas minutes increasing when it matters (swipe) Posted by southphillyman, Thu Nov-22-12 12:35 PM
plea cop article but looks like this dude is peeping how horrible of a defender Lin is he'll still start....if only because of the financial commitment from Morey(lol). but Sampson trying win games out there, smh
http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/11/22/linsanity-is-jeremy-on-the-bench-late/
HOUSTON — It’s becoming a habit. For the second time in four games, Jeremy Lin spent the decisive minutes on the bench.
Talk about your Linsanity.
First he watched Toney Douglas try to stem the tide against Damian Lillard during overtime of a loss at Portland. Then at home on Wednesday night, Lin simply watched all but two minutes of the fourth quarter as Douglas lifted the Rockets to a 93-89 win over the Bulls.
“I’m happy because we lost three in a row and needed a win. That’s for sure,” Lin said.
Team camaraderie aside, the Rockets need their point guard of the present and future to be able to stay on the floor to run the offense down the stretch. But to do that he’s going to have to make significant defensive strides.
When the Blazers were making their comeback in the fourth quarter last week, Lillard drove around and shot over Lin as if he wasn’t there. At the start of the final period against the Bulls, it was Nate Robinson who got on a roll and devoured Lin. Acting Rockets coach Kelvin Sampson watched Robinson stick a 3-pointer in Lin’s face and then drove for a dazzling 360-degree layup when he had enough and turned to Douglas.
On one hand, it was Nate being Nate, taking off on one of those sprees that has occasionally made him a marvel in the league. On the other, it was Lin being Lin, bedeviled and bewildered defensively.
“You have to go with your instincts,” Sampson said. “You’re not always right with that stuff. But I felt like Toney gave us our best chance to win. Yeah, a much better matchup with Nate.”
Lin’s troubles putting the ball into the basket this season have been well known. He shot just 2-for-9 from the field against the Bulls and is now 42-for-126 (33.3 percent) on the season.
It’s one thing to try to straighten out a wayward shot. That’s an individual thing. But if he has to constantly be replaced for a capable stopper on defense, then he’s not going to be on the floor to play quarterback on offense and isn’t helping at either end of the floor at crunch time. The Rockets need a guy they invested $25 million in to be more than a part-time player and a late-game spectator.
“Yeah, I think that’s for reasons of defense,” Lin said. “I’m not really sure. Ask Coach. But I think it’s a defensive thing. I didn’t do a very good job of making Nate Robinson uncomfortable. I’ve got to do a better job.”
