I remember having this exact conversation years ago about a guy I went to high school and college with, Junior Lemau'u. Dude could ball but stayed getting in trouble in high school, I know some of the folks around him were trying to push him to Boise St. to get him away from the bad influences but he ended up close to home at UCLA. Long story short, he stayed with those bad influences, got booted off the team, and got arrested for armed robbery.

Not that Deanthony is anything like that dude but I can see why kids need to get far from home sometimes.
