REPORT: Former Crenshaw Standout, Geno Hall, A Victim at USC Halloween Shooting

As news broke about the Halloween shooting on USC’s campus Wednesday night, officials could confirm that Geno Hall, a former Crenshaw High football standout, was one of the victims shot.

We cannot confirm where he was shot or how serious it was, but he was indeed a victim.

Hall tweeted this photo of he and tens of friends arriving at the USC campus for a party, hosted by the Black Student assembly and sponsored by a production company called LA Hype, with a tagline of “There goes the neighborhood.”:

In 2009, Hall was named the LA City football Player of the Year. He scored six touchdowns on punts or kickoff returns out of a total 15 all-purpose touchdowns. He caught 50 passes as a receiver and pulled double duty as a defensive back. Also named to the All-City First Team, alongside USC Trojans D.J. Morgan, Hayes Pullard, Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas and Washington’s Sean Parker. His Crenshaw Cougars were LA City Champs, going 14-1 that season.

The party he possibly attended was a costume party, free for USC students but open to non-students for a fee. The shooting occurred about an hour after he posted that photo. Within 10 minutes of the shooting, USC’s DPS and LAPD officers had arrived on the scene.
