Nah, Howard Homecoming is one of the biggest African-American cultural weekends in the country. I'd say less than 10% of the attendees have anything to do with the university
Maybe slightly more than half know anyone who attended or have anything to with the university
The reason for this is that it has something for everyone:
- Lots of middle class blacks willing to spend money (which means business flock too...middle class blacks waste more money on superficial things than whites of the same SES...sad but true)
- hordes of attractive women. I'm talking ARMIES.
- Great parties of various kinds (ignorant kiddie club parties, bougie black tie events, reunions and exhibits with upper middle class black snobs, the whole 9 yards)
So it has pretty wide breadth...most of it is just dumb fun but you feel *classy* doing it at Howard Homecoming
