Posted by LBs Finest, Tue Jan-03-12 05:17 PM
i'd rather have an average tackle with an excellent quarterback (i.e. Atlanta, who's pretty grateful we took Long over Matt Ryan), than an excellent left tackle with an average QB.

Rams will probably take Kalil, i highly doubt he's as good as Long, but he is younger and cheaper, so this is all a pipe-dream anyway...but if STL was interested, i'd do it, send em Long instead of future 1st round picks.
1887325, Right, but Long is a known elite LT
Posted by smutsboy, Wed Jan-04-12 09:12 AM
RGIII is FAR from that.

1888082, yea, we felt the same way about Matt Ryan
Posted by LBs Finest, Wed Jan-04-12 10:48 PM
>RGIII is FAR from that.

which is why we took the "safe" pick in Jake Long 4 years ago...we've had one playoff appearance with 3 losing seasons since. meanwhile Atlanta's made the playoffs 3 out of 4 years with weak ass Sam Baker.

to ME, Griffin III is a stud, and i'd rather send STL or Minny our 1st and a stud LT for their top pick rather than three 1's or some shit.
1888326, you're missing the point
Posted by KosherSam, Thu Jan-05-12 11:17 AM
with any player at any position, there is a question upon being drafted as to whether that player will be able to successfully make the transition into being good in the NFL.

Jake Long has clearly shown that, and is elite at his position. You don't trade that for an unknown commodity who may or may not be able to be a good pro.

nah, Matt Flynn will never have to worry about being "Kevin Kolb", because he's not playing behind a QB that inspires a lot of baseless agendas and getting hyped because of it. At least the hype in his case is based off NFL play and lowered expectations.

He's more of a Matt Cassel.

but I remember the team, under the same ownership, picking Tim Couch over Donovan McNabb. Which worked out for me, an Eagles fan.

But I don't think they're going to pick RGIII unless they're really ready to punt the ball on Colt already.

And IMO they don't need a QB. They need the best WR they can get.

Browns are thinking purely offence this draft. We're not pulling out these close game because the line is not holding up, it's because fuckin Phil Dawson is our best offence weapon.

QB is the most important position and Holmgren said that before.

We ain't get a WR high last year, so why would we do it this year? With an even higher pick and not as good of talent there(fuck the bagels for talking A.J. Green). And our line is not as bad as Colt makes it look.
1886825, dogg, you have no idea...

AJ Green was exactly who I wanted the Browns to draft last year; there are so many personal agendas behind that. On the Bengals, I guess I kinda can be OK with him having Duracell to throw to him (was a fan of his @ TCU). But it ain't the same.

Meh, I mean... Colt's been underwhelming but for them to grab another young QB without addressing some of the offensive issues outside of that position just makes me less than enthused. Don't get me wrong, if they do get RGIII, based on this reaction, I'm behind it 100% -- one, because it will show me that the Browns have finally moved on from the BS as an organization; Troy Smith should have been a Cleveland Brown, not wack-ass Brady Quinn. And two, apparently, it's going to make some people mad. And three, it won't be the Redskins.

But unless he comes here and has a Cam Newton introduction in his first 2 seasons it's going to be a big L. In many ways. I don't wanna see that dude get Vinced.

Looking at what Seneca Wallace is doing as a true West Coast QB (not impressive stats, but the difference is like night and day in how that offense is run). Their draft should be 95% offense, defense is straight enough to contend with the division.

Yeah it sucks, but peep. We can't take a WR that high because we won't be able to draft even a half way decent QB in the 2nd like the Begals did with Dalton.

And I don't even think Blackmon is good as Jones. We really need speed and or size at WR anyway. Little should be good and is like Blackmon, atleast , imo.

The offensive issues is that we can't throw it into the end-zone on a consistent basis. Colt has a baby-dick arm. I mean, maybe it's not that bad but we need a really strong arm for when that wind is blowing from the lake front.

Quinn was saying how much he wanted to be a Brown though and mock ups has us taking him much higher, so at least, the didn't fuck it up like that but you had to know they were taking him.

>But unless he comes here and has a Cam Newton introduction in
>his first 2 seasons it's going to be a big L. In many ways. I

I truly believe that Griffin will be(much) better than Newton in every way. Newton is an asswipe, having him would be like Lebron part 2 but prolly just much worse. All Newton got on RG3 is height and weight.

I believe that Holmgren will take care of RG3, I really just hope they don't fuck it up but not picking him.

I would go RG3 at 4
WR with our 2nd 1st (unless we can somehow get Trich there) Jeffery or even Griffin's guy Wright will do.
M.Ball with a 2nd.

and we can grab a rt, lb, some more dbs and we goodie good good.

That with our defense and we'll be contending in no time.
1886862, you right about the defense
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Jan-03-12 07:29 PM
they've been "almost" competent for a couple years now, but I was really impressed with their work on the Steelers. Even with all those ex-Eagles in the mix (Sheldon Brown and Dmitri "LOL" Patterson). Haden is gonna be premier very soon.

if they can pretend to play the Steelers every week they just might have something. The young players they have are better than expected and the vets do their part to fill the hole.

I feel like they might be recovering from the total collapse of 2007-08. Back when I thought Brandon "What A Fool Believes" McDonald was going to be my dark horse in "DB Warz"

Ever hear of Spergon Wynn? Black QB. The Browns drafted him(before Tom Brady SMFH)He was a 6 round pick. The question is will they draft a Black QB as high as 4th overall.

Shit, even Holmgren brought Seneca on board and he's only caught one pass for the Browns(that I can remember) and has been a decent backup QB for us.

They did work out Cam Newton last year when we had 6 overall.

Hopefully, this is a different Browns brain-trust(well, we know it is) but it remains to be seen if they'll really let a brotha run the show.

I'm hoping yes. If not then I will most likely not support them anymore.

But if they were even thinking about Newton then I would have to imagine that they are going to give Griffin a good hard look.

P.S. I think it's ironic, you say we have a better chance at going to the Super Bowl than drafting RG3 because he's most likely the missing link to us ever even going to one and winning.

but Seneca needs to be MORE than the backup because he's MORE than capable of handling a game...nothing against the current QB, but Seneca can get it in for real.

Real talk, I hope so also, but that kind of CISM has been ingrained in the Browns org for YEARS...YEARS.

They should take a chance on Seneca or another black QB, why not? The team has been horrible for years and honestly, doing something fresh and new is a MUST for the team.

>But if they were even thinking about Newton then I would have

agreed. But, I have a sneaking suspicion a way higher profile team (Colts, Jets, etc.) will snatch RG3 up before the browns even get a shot to look at him.

It look like he was just raising his son when I saw him on The Brady Six.

ah, yeah, no. Seneca is ok but I see Colt moving into his back up role and Wallace should be happy that a black QB like Griffin takes over the starting ranks.

It's fucking pissing me off that the white fans , of course just don't see it, but deny that kind of going on. All the while saying that they would rather waste away our high pick on trying to build around Mccoy(SMFH) they only want to see us draft a "Blackmon" that high if he's a WR

>They should take a chance on Seneca or another black QB, why

Only Black QB(or any QB) that I want to see at this point IS RG3. I'm convinced that he'll be better than Vick, Newton and will be a black Steve Young.

I doubt it. The teams that draft ahead of us have other pressing needs and it'll most likely cost a kings ransom for another team to move up and get him. Not smart for any team todo but if our hands were forced then we would be in the drivers seat. Like, the only thing to really worry about is if we would be dumb enough to pass on him or trade out of the spot.

>
>he is the missing link, but is he a link the browns will get?

If they don't then I am done. I'd rather be a Ravens fans that keep following a losing team that doesn't want to upgrade because of racism. Don't have to worry about that in B-more since their GM is Browns great Ozzie Newsome, you see he scooped up Tyrod Taylor.

I dunno. If Holmgren, Heckert & the Browns are foolish enough to not draft a once in a lifetime talent because he is too dark of skin then they deserve to lose forever and ever.

I'm really hoping that H&H aren't that stupid because I think they really want to win.

I have been at the borderline of cussin folks out over that. It's something whispered about, but everyone knows. If they actually do it, then they can start talking shit to the Steelers.

this org coddles the fuck out of the rednecks in a way that is just disturbing. and I see that lightweight in the comments I read elsewhere... too many excuses.

There's no elite WR to take that high, we can find similar(or possibly even better) talent later in the draft. Same with the OL, we can do that much later.

If they take RG3 then they're sold on him for the foreseeable future(even though I think they'll still make him battle it out with Colt which shouldn't be a problem for him) and I'll say that we NEED a QB with his skill set in the AFC North. McCoy should be a pretty good backup though.

>Just as long as he ain't on the Skins I'm cool.

Right, how would him going there be any fucking better for him? I could see him really digging it here though.

Word. I think it's a long way from this; Cleveland has to put together two consistent seasons of play for that. If they don't screw around and inexplicably piss off their star players (that Colt McCoy shit is shades of LeCharles Bentley and Joe Jurevicius, that Peyton Hillis shit is like Kellen Winslow Jr meets Braylon Edwards all over again).

Yeah, I can dig it. He's young as shit. The Browns will really have to mature as an org... maybe Holmgren will be the wild card, as stated before. This team is already looking like the Eagles Jr, might as well complete the package with a promising Asiatic QB.

You're right that the Bees have been trying hard w/sticking to an antiquated script (the prodigal pocket QB with a billion yards in college). I'm a Colt fan but I don't know what happened to him from last season to this one, he was better last season. That hit might have screwed him up for real.

>Right, how would him going there be any fucking better for

We'll see. The Browns are a very young team. If they can just stabilize as an org maybe they will sneak in while one of the other teams falls off. It will be hard when one of those teams is the Steelers.

If RG3 grows to be the superstar that he looks like he could be then I think we could do it as soon as his third year. That should be around when the rest of the division is declining and ours (esp the d) should be peaking. We pair him with one of these good young backs and we could be looking at something really special in the next few years.

Yeah, shit was bad tho. I don't think Colt's dad did him any favors and I dunno about Hillis but he did come back strong(er) at the end of the season.

3rounders like Colts is not gonna fly no more. I hope they don't fall for the Matt Flynn bait, HE can go to Wash. I'm glad that Barkly kid didn't come out so they couldn't take his weak ass.

Yeah, so many people wanna get rid of Shummer already, we'll never do anything with that kind of mental. I really think that we got the steelers(ravens too) on their heels tho, we would have won sunday if we had more on our roster than just backup QBs.

Fans of only 7 teams can pop shit about drafting QBs. PRE-emptive fuck you to any Cowboys, 9ers, Seahawks, Packers (hi Cantball) Jaguars, Jets, Broncos, Bills, Dolphins, and any nut hating ass fans.

QBs are supposed to go teams that need them. That's why the Jets got Sanchise. It's why the Falcons got Matt Ryan. It's why the Ravens got Petty Flacco and the Steelers got Big Ben. It's why the Packers got ARod.

*EDIT*

And the end of the day we're going to come away with some big time talent whether it be Trent Richardson, RG3 or whoever.

It ain't the city, it's how teams are managed. If y'all went @ that angle, I wouldn't say shit. Cause the Browns do not give me any confidence from the front office. As much as the Skins and the Dolphins do @ this point.

But NOPE. The GS(idekick)OAT done got all your heads fucked up.

If it were all about the cities, why did the Bulls suck ass for years after Chester Cheetah's cigar smokin' ass left town? Why do the Knicks struggle to build a playoff team? Why did the goddamn Spurs make people mad all through the last decade? Or better yet... why do the Lakers win championships in multiple decades, while the Clips do dumb shit like trading their lottery picks? How did the fucking Mavs win the championship in wack-ass Dallas?!

Man. Not even hatin' ass Steeler, Raven, and Bengal fans would be on the gay shit that is the premise of this post. The main cosigners (and the author of this post)?

that will be amended in coming years. Sheard, Taylor, and Haden (on defense) will contend for that role. Cribbs still gonna be good (as a WR, even)

they MAY have a chance to rectify that with Shanahan aboard
but they have a reputation for mortgaging the future on free agent acquisitions

recent drafts of theirs that they didn't trade away and are probably going to pan out: Ryan Kerrigan, Brian Okrapo, Roy Helu (he was a fourth rounder though)

if Danny didn't fuck around all those years, we might be bickering about what Washington is doing right in the NFC East

if you talking about the MISL team, the league was folding.
now more than Cleveland takes a L on that.

>The city is poo poo. the sports are poo poo.

the sports are POO POO today. that's not a question.
Larry Dolan is a turd of an owner, Dan Gilbert eats the turds strewn about in his wake, and the Lerners don't give a fuck about football (or at least they seem not to). Dolan is the worst owner in all sports, he only does the shit so that he can keep the lights on in his castle tucked into the buttcrack of Portage and Geauga Counties.

and I could go into a discussion about the city and its MSA has a lot of POO POO about it.

but my thing is, people are already aborting before conception on some bullshit.

The reason it remains POO POO is because no one even allows the conception to happen.

And unlike you, the vast majority of people who suddenly care where a player projected to be GOOD is going have absolutely NO perspective (fucked up or not) on the matter. They only "care" because of one person... they don't know or care about the history. Don't know the details. And thus, the city (and its sports teams) never get a chance to stabilize under the weight of the POO POO dumped upon them from around them, and any asshole looking to profit off that misery is tolerated if not worshipped (see: LeFavre, Gilbert, etc).

That's why I'm mad.

It's like Basa v. knee-jerk Duke hate. You start it, I'm gonna talk about it.

shit, I took a huge L because I wanted Eli Manning TO go to the Giants because I thought Rivers would be better (he is, the Chargers are just way more unlucky in the postseason than the Giants)

the way Holmgren is talking (post conference yesterday) is that I expect the following:

1) they will hire an OC (an unknown from the Walsh tree, Mike Martz, or Brad Childress)

2) the turdburglars will get their wish and they will not draft a QB; Holmgren kept talking about "protection" (which means offensive line) and some other things that make me think WRs and such.

then again he might be a bad politician. He did say, and I quote "I'm not ready to anoint Colt McCoy yet".

don't spend any Geld on a QB this year. No Flynn, no Peyton, and certainly no journeymen.

If the Browns are to acquire anyone, they better look at what kind of O-Line prospects are out there. I wouldn't shell for any WRs either, not even Stevie J.

As for QB, I'd rather start Seneca but he's kind of slow. Colt played behind virtually the same line as he did in relief of Picks Delhomme and struggled to get drives going. That being said, they'll probably throw Colt out to the wolves again. If he doesn't put anything together...

First off, no disrespect to Washington's organization or fans cause (most of) y'all are cool.

BUT

Mike Shanahan had RG3 running the read option on one leg. That's textbook mismanagement and overall thirst. RG3 is an excellent pocket passer who should not have been forced to run one one leg. Plus Mike out here ignoring doctors.

ironically enough i was JUST watching a doc on Bobby Mitchell last nite too

it took time but once the Skins integrated they caught up to the league pretty quick and uncoincidentally, thats when the winning began (you know, around the same time the Browns became and forever remained utter and total shit)
2108514, Don't even meantion Bobby Mitchell, that was our guy
Posted by Geez 216, Thu Jan-10-13 07:48 PM

you know? Because another Black guy was too proud to play for that racist owner you guys had, Ernie Davis didn't want to play for you(him not being able to play because of Leukemia is probably the start of the series of unfortunate events for us). The government had to step in and MAKE you sign Black players.

Know why the Browns were so great? Because noone had to make them assimilate. And we weren't "utter and total shit" until we got this expansion team, the 80's Browns were very competitive and just had alot of bad breaks. Just stop it, guy. You can't compare our history of greatness to the bullshit that has surround your team from jump, even when we haven't been shit for 20 years.

how many read option plays were run while Griff was clearly limited to one leg?

again, did you watch the game?

>Plus Mike out here ignoring doctors.

evidence?

aside from the rumors that were directly stated to be false by the doctor in question?

Officially the one play at the end where he limped out of bonds. However, Mike Shanahan did not take into account RG3's injury completely into the gameplan. He drew up a game plan for a healthy RG3. That shows a complete lack of concern for your franchise QB. Seriously go back and look at the game.

I watched the game completely. I would've taken RG3 out after halftime. Shanahan's thirst was shown to the world.

Dr. Andrews is the team doctor. Anything he says now is spin to deflect blame from his head coach.
2108443, so ur original post was admittedly very exaggerated...
Posted by philpot, Thu Jan-10-13 05:12 PM
and you have no evidence of any type that anything else you said was true of accurate?

mike shanahan could magically change the entire game plan the team had in effect on a dime based on incomplete & partial pieces of information he got while in the heat of a playoff game?

gotcha

oh i know...you heard it on first take? dan patrick said so?

lmao at u lemmings

It was clearly visible to everyone that RG3 was not healthy to run that specific gameplan. Stick to the run and work your way through the game that way. Don't have your franchise quarterback running the zone-read option on one leg. It's an asinine and borderline fireable offense.

NOPE! I'm just looking at facts instead of running to the defense of my team's head coach for no reason unlike you. Don't believe everything Shanahan says.

And whatcha gonna do
when there ain't no where to hide (tell me what)
When judgment comes for you (Cause it's gonna come for you)

Let's all bring it in for Wally, Eazy sees uncle Charlie
Little Boo, God's got him and I'm gonna miss everybody
I only roll with Bone my gang look to where they lay
When playing with destiny, plays too deep for me to say
Lil' Layzie came to me, told me if he should decease well then please
Bury me by my grand-grand and when you can, come follow me

God bless you working on a plan to Heaven
Follow the Lord all 24/7 days, GOD is who we praise
even though the devil's all up in my face
But he keeping me safe and in my place, say grace
For the case to race with a chance to face the judge
And I'm guessing my soul won't budge
Grudge because there's no mercy for thugs
Oh what can I do it's all about our family and how we roll
Can I get a witness let it unfold
We living our lives to eternal our soul aye-oh-aye-oh

Prayyyyyyy, and we pray and we pray, and we pray, and we pray
Everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday
and we pray, and we pray, and we pray, and we pray
Still we laced, now follow me roll stroll
Whether is tell of his Heaven
Come let's go take a visit of people that's long gone
Darris, Wally, Eazy, Terry, Boo
It's steadily creeping up on the family
Exactly how many days we got lasting
While you laughin we're passing, passing away
So y'all go rest y'all souls
Cause I know I'ma meet you up at the crossreads
y'all know y'all forever got love from them Bone Thugs baby

Now Eazy's long gone
Really wish he would come home
But when it's time to die
Gotta go bye bye
All a thug could do is cry, cry
Why they kill my dog and man
I miss my uncle Charles y'all
and he shoudn't be gone, in front of his home
What they did to Boo was wrong
Oh so wrong, oh so wrong
Gotta hold on gotta stay strong
When the day comes
Better believe Bone got a shoulder you can lean on (lean on)

Hey and we pray, and we pray, and we pray, and we pray
everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday
and we pray, and we pray, and we pray, and we pray
everday, everyday, everyday, everyday

See you at the crossroads, crossroads, crossroads
So you won't be lonely
See you at the crossroads, crossroads, crossroads
So you won't be lonely
See you at the crossroads, crossroads
So you won't be lonely
See you at the crossroads, crossroads

And I'm gonna miss everybody
And I'm gonna miss everybody when I'm gone
And I'm gonna miss everybody
And I'm gonna miss everybody
And I'm gonna miss everybody

Living in a hateful world sending me straight to Heaven
That's how we roll
Living in a hateful world sending me straight to Heaven
That's how we roll
Living in a hateful world sending me straight to Heaven
That's how we roll
And I'm asking the good LORD with a sigh
It's I he told me we live to die

What's up with murder y'all, see my little cousin was hung
Somebody was really wrong, everybody want to test us dawg
Then Miss Sleazy set up Eazy to fall, you know why we sinnin
And Krayzie intended on ending it when it ends

Now tell me whatcha gonna do

Can somebody anybody tell me why?
Hey, can somebody anybody tell me why we die, we die?
I don't want to die

2527865, Suprised people are staking out claims on an RG3 agenda
Posted by jorge123, Mon Mar-28-16 08:27 PM
If he manages to play 3 preseason games and all 16 games of the regular season this year for Cleveland, it will be his second longest streak of healthy games in his combined 8 years of college and pro football. The longest streak started his Junior year when he came back from his first blown ACL and lasted until he had to sit out the second half of a game during his senior year for a concussion (23 fully healthy games).

Since then...

6 fully healthy games in a row (2 games his senior year until his second concussion on 10/7/2012)

7 fully healthy games in a row (weeks 6 through 12 of 2012, after which the Ngata hit happened which essentially ended his career as a productive QB)

2 "fully healthy" games in a row (last 2 weeks of regular season in 2012, after which he blew out his ACL for the second time)

14 fully healthy games in a row (from week 1 2013 through week 1 2014, after which he dislocated his ankle while trying to stiff-arm a linebacker on a routine bootleg)

7 fully healthy games in a row to close out the 2014 season (got his third concussion in week 3 of the 2015 preseason, so he'll be starting fresh in 2016)

Staking out an agenda on Griffin is pointless because the odds are that you're just going to be using the "he looked like he was improving until he got injured!" bullshit that Redskins fans had to endure in 2014 (off the strength of 1 bad game + 1 "drive") and again in 2015 (off the strength of 1 preseason game). Then, you'll get to move onto the "if he sucked, it's because he was still recovering from injury" phase. Finally, and this probably won't occur until several years after he's off the team (sooner if you land an actual viable starter to replace him, longer if not), you'll finally get tired of defending him and you'll concede that maybe he wasn't that good. More likely, though, you'll stick with your guns regardless of what happens, because that's what a good agenda is for.

Snyder hired a coach that sabotaged RG3 from day one and refused to support him. Now look at them getting EXPOSED.

Shanahan treated RG3 like a running back.
Jay Gruden sabotaged RG3 from day one.

RG3 is trying to reclaim his career as starter after dealing with the dumpster fire that was the Washington Racists. His flaming out in Washington falls at the feet of that organization.
