great front offices don't get to look as good for as long, and the terrible ones get out from under old contracts in time to shuffle the deck when they rehire a new gm/coach every couple years.
it's not a real improvement, and it's not much comfort for the fan bases, but the flexibility probably feels good to the dan gilberts of the world.
