I suspect strongly that his agent has already talked to the Islanders but the commitment is pretty minimal (I think a fifth that bumps up to a fourth if he signs). Islanders want to get into the free agent fray with the big move to Brooklyn. It's a pretty weak for FAs but if you wanted a pro who will make the right plays, Boyle is a fine choice, I guess. He is 38, so the deal shouldn't be too long.
