It’s funny that I came back on here after this link had been posted. I started this piece months ago..it’s much longer..these are the opening lines to a few stanzas…I just can’t seem to finish it though

I write outta need
Not simply to achieve
Notoriety or fame
But so things won’t always be the same
So little girls don’t grow up to be me
And little boys will know that wifey
Ain’t just a title you give lightly

I write for both of my shorties
So when they go out in that world and hear those stories
You know, the ones that start with, Oh that’s your moms
I remember when she used to get it on
They won’t be tempted to emulate me
They’ll know that part as well as the lady
That I turned out to be
Not hiding my past, just don’t want that to be all they see


I write so I won’t go crazy
Cuz after all that’s happened to this 80’s baby
I just gotta get my story heard
Anything less would be absurd
