stress relief , when I'm inspired , just to clear my thoughts
I write because I feel someone should say it.. or no one can really say it like me. Sometimes its just for fun. Other times just to let people know i see them.

I write because its a source of stress relief, venting my frsutration, but also for practice, i mean im striving to be a well known artist, not for the typical money motivation, but more or less to feed something new to listeners, and its a form of poetry and such, i mean i feel there is alot i can give that hasnt already been done.

I think a majority of writers, emcees, poets believe their voice is NEEDED in a sense (see Kanye for example).

I write to free my mind leaving stress behind to flow in life's turbulent breeze, writing keeps my soul at ease after waring with demons that attack daily it seems, deemed or destined to determination in destinations near and far imagery helps me write while driving my car not texting, writing keeps me from vexing or spasin out my thoughts inked to paper console me when others emotions are out on an eternal vacation written thought provides vindication for revelation stimulation my mind's elevation rather escape

it helped make sense of the madness in my head... and helped me fight my inner demons & my past. And it was a way to vocalize the pain I felt inside.

But....now that I think a lot clearer..can have slayed most of those Demons.... I'm left uninspired.

I need a new muse.

well, one doesnt have to write only when they feel sad but also when they feel happiness...
just write about things that matter to you...

I write because I want to get my emotions out in text-form, it feels better that way, like therapy with myself...lol. I have written for some time now, and maybe it has become more of a hobby these days.

I write because it's a hobby of mine and I like to play with words & create smooth flowing rhyme patters and stories. I like no matter what mood I'm in since it's also a good stress reliever :)

I write .... to release.

There's so many thoughts, ideas, issues ..... words, phrases, sentences, passwords, logins, ID's acronymns, etc. -- so many "THINGS" crammed into my head ... day~to~day ... I sometimes feel the need to drain my brain.

My words are not necessarily prolific or astute -- they're not polished or pristine ... nor are they Shakespherian, Giovanni~esque or Langston Hughes~ish.

They're just random words with a twist of rhyme ... a way to relax and spend some time ... away from the boob~tube (TV)

So yeah, like empro said: It's a hobby ... :9

I didn't even know I could write. I hate being long winded, but I love telling stories. I had a writing assignment when I was 12 to write a descriptive essay of whatever we wanted. I decided to write about my new black Wedding Fantasy Barbie doll who was just the prettiest doll EVER! lol And my teacher, Mr. May thought it was soooooo good, he asked me to read it in front of the class. I was of course too shy, so he read it. And because he was so impressed...I figured words were just so much more than to be used for speech. I can capture moments and thoughts, use my imagination, write in any medium. Poetry became my outlet for a too sensitive/emotional/introverted kid at the time. So to sum that all up...I write to have a voice.

i think i write because nobody has a voice for me, at least i dont feel like it. i write because it's a lost cause and nobody wants to put up wit it anymore. nobody reads, nobody writes, nobody feels. we are all numb and only focus on ourselves.

i write about that and i write about me. i wirte to fill the void for all the lost pages that life have severed. it's a true passion for me. i write because writing is me.

whoever doesnt give a shit, i do.

i'm not even sure if this is receivable or not, but i truly write for the passion of writing. it's me. it's what i want to do. it's what i'm about. it's where i'm from, where i'm at, where i want to be.

Without the pen and pad I'd be lost...

i have found this entire thread descriptive of me, yet mindful got it 4me here. That said when my voice becomes the only voice I think is important (well)...

In my household I wasn't allowed to have opinions. Anyone who has had experiences with a west indian mother can understand how this happens. Add the fact that I had no friends (due in part to the abuse) & writing literally was all I had.

(As a child I would fill my backpack until it wouldn't close with books & be done with them all in a week) My mother believed I had no privacy or personal space so sometimes she read my journal used it to bully me & was unapologetic for it. After it being done enough I just stopped writing until last year (hence the haitus) I could say writing is a my life but it's not. I love words & I love what they can do when used with good intentions. I appreciate how writing has been helpful to me when I needed it & I'm grateful to every book I've ever read for molding me in some way into the person I am now. Before I became a part of freestyle I hadn't considered exploring my writing seriously. Sage spoke to me all the time about finding my voice & I didn't get it because I didn't know what my own voice sounded like. I decided to seek freedom in so I could say what I wanted & inadvertently found my voice. The ability to write has been a valuable tool in my personal life and for that reason I value it & everything I've learned here.

I write because I can't remember all the problems I have. So, I write them down one at a time so they can torture me from a neat, organized place one at a time. One of my problems is OCD, but I haven't written about that one yet. Most likely, because I won't forget that problem. Did I spell everthing correctly?

Let self express in this way is better than physically and not always good to use physical to express........for me I find writing theraputic and a blessing.

I write in an attempt to talk about things that seem unsaid in my surroundings
In the hopes that in drawing maps I might find the shape of the paths
To bring me back to my center when I feel off balance
To collect what has made me who I am from my surroundings
to etch a moment in on tracing papers

I write because I learn from writing
it helps me figure out how I would state my experiences and emotions
in my own words not hindsight generalizations or conclusions
but right here in the now
and I write because theres so much I cant write
so many hums that will never be words that paint walls with visions
I write to let the ancients and natures magic know I'm still calling it
a willing disciple in wild magics untouched unknown unfound
to bring to me, to teach me
it's about learning, it's about being able to see where I was
in a mindscape as I learned
so many tracks and songs and poems and books have put words to things that I found increasingly complex as a youth
So I write to try to do the same for new moments
new complexities that can be oversimplified to suggest their presence

I write because sometimes people get things from it
because I feel like it's my duty to spread the word
that sets my eyes on fire and lights my way at midnight

and I hope that one day people will reflect on these songs I've made
and poems I've written and it will help them find their own willingness to accept and deliberate their inner wars
until the walls fall down and the tears rain clear and frustration is communicated until the pitch of the joy to simply feel rises again to be heard in it's bare energies

I write to explain and feel. Writing allows me to look at myself for who I am. Helps me see things I can change about myself. Most important it helps appreciate who I really am and love it through all faults.

I've never wrote as a lyricist. I wrote journals for days but it seems that these are two totally different forms of writing.I'm a newcomer in claiming this desire in me. I have always been in awe of listening to poetry (some more than others). I so do not want to offend masters of words and lyrics with my mediocre form of writing. So "why do i write?"..... I'm creating myself. I may not "spit" one word that could describe many but fuck it i "spray' full sentences and paragraphs.

As a child I was to be seen and not heard, so I wrote. I wrote to hear my voice, silently reflected back to me on pages. I wrote to dream up alternate realities where I was strong and fearless, where my life was without boundaries. I wrote fantasies of faith in my talent until I actually believed it. I continue to write to be heard, because to be heard is to be TRULY seen.

It’s funny that I came back on here after this link had been posted. I started this piece months ago..it’s much longer..these are the opening lines to a few stanzas…I just can’t seem to finish it though

I write outta need
Not simply to achieve
Notoriety or fame

I write to express feelings that I normally supress or keep to myself...it's a way to creatively put thoughts in the atmosphere for me...when I'm stressed or going through personal issues, writing is very cathartic...

...I believe a common experience can be found, shared and, built upon using words. I also love communicating my ideas in ways that perplex or demand individual interpretation, based upon who the reader is. Writing is a way to express myself and expirement with new ways and/or styles of communication. I enjoy the challenge that communication presents.
