about what drives us, rides us
then deprives us

and unite
then hides us
away from normal pursuits
our spirirts turned inward
against each other
and the question survives us
lingers like death
and bindds us, blinds us
to the truth of a spiritual
past, that should remind us,
that freedom is not just being parole
but in the very fiber of our soul
even though the quest has been to divide us
and hangs the essecence of us
from unyeilding convicted trees
that drops leaves from centuries ago
and forms white sheets and hoods
that created the question
