I felt very much at home in harlem. And the strange thing is I think the people who lived there although it was like a crazy relationship, have a relationship with the place they live, which is unusual. I really loved the character of the place. I'd love to have a writer's group, like a muse trip, where we could take a bunch of OKP types to visit famous places in the world and write about their stories...

I live in Texas now, but I was born in N.Y. -- Harlem -- And raised there til' 15yrs. -- So I can relate to your "reflection"

I was born and grew up in harlem...and i always think when people try to describe the vibe...they miss it entirely...I'm so glad that finally some one wrote it right...this was righteous reading...miss k

as I sit here at 116 and sigh into the track spaces
sitting in the midnight wind with
firetrucks reaching and cabs parked and
santo domingan sandwiches every block
harlem is my room on the second floor with one light lit when I walk in the door
is the drawing space on my wall
is the mouse in my kitchen that runs over my foot at two am
