you gonna be in NYC? if so, give me a shout. i'm supposed to be linking up with a poet/emcee and a female singer too, and i'm sure they'd dig your production. let me know if i should give them a heads-up.

Posted by rgv, Sat Oct-14-06 09:56 AM
i cannot tell y'all what an absolute pleasure
& honor
& experience last nite was

to watch sonia sanchez breakdown &cry as she read a poem abt her father
to hear toi derricote pray
to be hugged and warmly rcv'd by yusef komunyaka
sharing a laugh w/ tim seibles in an elevator
having patricia smith wait for my blkass to figure out which one of her books had that poem i NEEDED and then to have her wait
& sign it for me
& give me her email
& tell me anytime...all the time

or mtg roger bonair agard
& him remebering me
& introducing me to his mama
I'M TRYNA TELL Y'ALL

& the list goes on....
nikky finney {thank u trace for putting me on}
elizabeth alexander...so gracious

but, i will never forgit kwame dawes

i will never forgit that triumph of a man
or crying listening to his words
& crying hearing yusef
& crying cuz sonia was crying

& just thinking
there is no other place in the world
for me but in words

& to the wonderful seraph for sharing in the wonderful space that it was w/ me
for FORCING me to picture w/ the greats
& then stomping around tryna find a dunkin donuts
til we did

& quite honestly
sitting there
w/ all that majick
i thought abt
lei & akhir & my lil soulchild
& shida & quincy

cuz i just wanted to orb y'all there
so, u cld be warm
& know it
& have it as ur memory also
