most mature MCU movie maybe ever

easily the best product since Endgame. Easily Tom Holland's best performance as Peter Parker. Stellar efforts all around really - both Bernthal and Sadie Sink are outstanding.

Pleasantly surprised is an understatement. This is like a mashup of your favorite Marvel flick and Raimi's Spider-Man 2. I'm surprised how good this was.

I just don't know about Peter being on board for the Jean arc - she did kill or seriously injure the construction worker and tried to kill MJ - but she gets talked out of killing Metzger?? And now it's all good?

Some of the folks in the building had to have been killed too - and folks at ground level.

Just pisses me off in the films they let the big baddy go free while little people are disposable. Metzger deserved to be killed - I feel like justice was not done.

And I don't know if I needed 4 - or 5 - versions of the Aunt May/Peter talk.

I did appreciate the silence/quietness that occurred in the Peter living alone scenes.


I'm seeing it again tomorrow to get the free Spiderman pin - and because it's my last month of the AMC prime membership and I feel I need to use it at every possible chance I get.

I think Raimi's part 2 was a better film/tragedy but this one was good too.

Sadie's still my lil' homie Max, so I'm gonna feel weird seeing Logan (please not Hugh) fawning over this Jean, if we ever get to that point. It felt like her bus ride was taking her upstate to be discovered by the Professor. I'm glad we got a huge power display from her, but didn't go full Phoenix (or even a reference) this early.

It was dope and sad to see how effective Dr. Strange's spell was. They're not even like "Oh yeah, I had a few classes with you. Peter something, right?"

WTF is Ned running that app on? I don't wanna speculate for too long, but I wonder if it detected another Peter or a live-action Miles, or maybe even Spider-Verse Miles.

Some of the combat looks like the games. Swinging with the organic webs looked like Miles swinging all loose & reckless in his game.

I've been watching the reactions online, and I've seen people describe it as the best Marvel movie ever, while others say they hated it.

And I lowkey can see how others can arrive at both conclusions.

It's great because I went in at 8pm, which is a death sentence for me when watching movies because I usually fall asleep, but I was there and with it all the way to the end. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jon Berenthal were great too. I didn't know who Sadie Sink was, but she was pretty good too.

It had emotional moments that got me choked up, and that hasn't happened in a Marvel movie for me since Endgame. Spider-Man works where so many Marvel movies don't because, at the end of the day, it's about a kid growing up. It seems to always nail the personal stakes.

My kids loved it.

But I also understand why others don't like it; it's mainly just resistance to change. All these movies now have 10 things going on at once. Movies don't get to breathe (though this breathed more than most). There could have been maybe 3 fewer characters introduced and then disappeared.

Then I am a Marvel Old Head who hates seeing them mess with Cannon. Sarah Grey as a mutant? Spider-Man having first contact with Jean Gray? Not only does the death of Aunt May still bother me, but I still cannot fully accept that Marisa Tomei, my childhood crush, is Aunt May!

These changes can be hard to accept if you are an older die-hard comic book head. But I ultimately know my kids are the target audience, not me..

So, by modern standards, yeah, this is the bee's knees. I am not so sure by non-modern standards. I think I need to go back and watch Spider-Man 2 or X-Men 1 (or was 2 really good?)

So much ripped right from the games, and thats not a knock. Only knock would be you know who being so similar to the MR Negative story line. Besides that loved everything else. Tom IS SPIDEY now. I think this is my fav only second to Spidey 2 with Doc Ock.

Probably haven't seen a Spider Man since the 3rd Tobey Maguire one.

This was good. Lots of fun. Great popcorn flick.
