750494, The Watchers (Ishana Night Shyamalan, 2024) Posted by bwood, Thu Jun-06-24 05:55 AM
Saw this shit yesterday morning.
If you're wondering why there are no reviews yet despite it opening tonight, well the embargo breaks 3 hours before the first showtime.
It's an above-average horror thriller that I wasn't fully on board with. Then the last twenty minutes killed all interest I had as I found myself rolling my eyes in the back of my skull.
Just like her father before her, the twist makes or breaks the movie.
Cool to see Dakota Fanning in a lead role in a studio film (even if it's a shaky performance), and cool to see the old-school New Line logo.
But yeah I like to see what Ishana does with a better script.

the third act definitely sucked the life out of it. there some quality atmosphere building but overall, not an enjoyable film.

Final 3 was from a complete other movie that they did nothing to build towards in the first two thirds (which had me kinda engaged).
So M Knight is just putting all his children on huh?
