742513, I'm through the first three episodes and enjoying it Posted by Hitokiri, Mon Nov-01-21 08:05 AM
And as someone who's about the same age as Kaep, I find the show to be so relatable. Not the stuff happening in his home with his parents. That's completely foreign to me, but his interactions with just random white folks... Yep. That's how it was. How it is. And the music and fashion is spot on.

the 'microaggressions' are spot on

Really enjoyed the star's performance. He really does kinda look and sound like a young Kaep.
Also, the parents were written/played perfectly, I thought.

Crazy I was at the first game he started and the GB preseason game which I can't remember if it was the first game he knelt or sat.

742592, finished it last night...really excellent Posted by Damali, Wed Nov-10-21 08:31 PM
it did such a brilliant job at showing the cumulative, soul crushing effects of microagressions on Black children...and the inability of white people to recognize them as such.
i also love Colin's interjections / lessons as the narrator...super in your face stuff...so wonderful to see this shit spoken PLAINLY. not sugar coated.

742610, pleasantly surprised... way better than i thought it would be Posted by thegodcam, Sun Nov-14-21 01:40 PM
although i had completely forgotten it was directed by Ava so that was my mistake....
much respect for Colin being brutally honest about his parents and the problematic issues that come with interracial adoption
